Solapur Chennai Highway: One Highway to Become Heart of Four States
Solapur - Chennai Economic Corridor is an industrial growth engine for Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It is also known as one of the longest economic corridors covering the southern states except Kerala.
This project will enhance the trade and transportation in these states, which are economically prosperous and industrially sound in India. This economic corridor has a total length of 707 km from Solapur (Maharashtra) to Chennai (Tamilnadu). This also passes through Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh, Raichur in Karnataka and Gadwal in Telangana.
The MEIL has bagged two segments of this economic corridor on Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) under Bharatmala Pariyojana. It will execute the two segments of the Green field section of the economic corridor. One of the segments is from Raichur Gadwal road to Julekal village in Telangana. and the other segment starts from Julekal and ends at Kurnool town in Andhra Pradesh.
It is laying the green field express highway with a total length of 100 kms under this project to boost the economy of the states. The specific feature of this project is that, the highway passes through the industrial cities like Chennai , which is hub for Information technology and Automobile industry and solapur is known for its leather industry and other cities known for its own kind of industries such as agro and handloom.
This project will catalyse existing economic activities and promote the upcoming industries for the progress of economy and development of the nation.
