As a native West Virginian from morgantown, I love that our folklore is apart of fallout now. Tho the map still gives me a mini stroke with where they put some of the places on the map.
@mannamoth918 I grew up in Summersville and IRL if the Summersville Dam blew up it wouldn't flood Charleston, there's no way it could with Charleston being 40 miles from Summersville. I currently live in Beckley and Camden Park is not that close to Beckley. It's about 40 or 50 miles from Beckley.
Mothman is the greatest cryptid in fallout 76, hell the event to summon the purple eye moth was one of my favorite thing to do when I first play the game.😺
Some of us didn't get a clean event as we either had 1-2 mates short or a pack of legendries SOMEHOW chased us from across the map and tried to sabotage us! Glad though they patched out the bug where if you squished 3 or more fireflies in one attack, it somehow is canceled.
What if the wendigos are actually a type of ghoul? I always found it suspect that they are non-hostile towards ghouls. It could be a result of eating radiation/possibly FEV infected meat. I think that’s a cool way to tie them into the lore
I could be reaching by connecting Until Dawn to this but in that game one doesn’t just become a Wendigo they must consume human meat/ be a cannibal advancing the the stages of their malfeasance
They're implied to be some sort of ghoul variant. They can be found in ghoul-infested areas, and unlike the Scorched, Wendigos don't attack ghouls on sight. I read someone mentioning that ghouls are probably a result of how contaminated Appalachia was pre-war, and once people ate lead/ultracite/fev/irradiated meat; that could have triggered a different sort of mutation.
They are, basically it's depicted as 'a cannibal that becomes a ghoul has a chance of becoming a wendigo' There is ambiguity about what exactly causes it though, kinda like ghouls vs feral.
@@traptastic4864 It could be cannibals who ate Ghouls as a means of survival. As for normal vs feral ghouls, it could be a matter of how damaged the brain is after the initial radiation exposure.
Too bad you didn't point out the cattle tag on sheepsquatch, because it has "MT" written on it. Would be a heck of a coincidence if Bethesda just happened to accidentally put those letters there.
The wendigo is easily my favorite cryptic all of these creatures I’ve hunted down out of interest never found a sloth though. Spent 3 real life days hunting it in the area it’s supposed to spawn but never got it
Sloths will spawn at the scorchbeast queen event, as well as randomly in wooded areas around the bog. To be completely honest, I've only actually ever seen one outside of an event in over 1500 hours, those and hermit crabs, I've only seen 6 at most in all that time.
Even though 76 was…what it was… at launch, my friends and I loved exploring the map just to find all the cryptids. Randomly stumbling upon some wendigos while we were underleveled was so fun.
Barely started this yesterday. Needed something I could play for a while without getting bored, so needless to say I’m doing all side quests and doubling back for the main ones when I feel like I’m venturing too far from them.
