      I always count the consist and calculate the load. With locos being hauled its not insubstantial.

    Love hearing the sound of the class 20 deisel locos...rembered when i was a kid would rush down to the tracks to see them even when i was having a bath, ran butt naked with my aunt chasing after me....hahaha those were the days

    Brilliant,, Deltic dragging a 66,, Fking Epic.
    The delay between puffs of Clag on the pair of 37s tickled me,,
    Sulzer 47 sounded lovely.

      Thats what happens when 2 locos are coupled in multiple, and worked by the leading cab controls. The delay to the second loco just adds to the splendour.

    That Deltic screaming away pulling the 66 and all it’s wagons, was that some kind of test run ? Bit bizarre for heritage locomotive to be working on freight duties…

    I liked the clip at Gilberdyke - I was resident at Gilberdyke SB and the class 20s on the RHTT was always a highlight!

    Fabulous video and very enjoyable. Those Class 20s sound like the old "Thumpers" which used to frequent the Southampton to Portsmouth line a long long time ago. Just a coincidence maybe? Cheers from me in Australia!

    Brilliant, Kyle! Great thrash, power, variety, locations and video quality and oh, those sounds! By the way, should Freightliner get Colas to service their Class 70s? Far too much clag from a Euro IIIa loco after only eight years.

      I was thinking the same regarding the clag from the TPExpress Class 68's. I've seen on RUclips that they produce a little clay when at idle - an older MTU-powered HST isn't that bad.

    I'm glad I was born at just the right time with the best of everything that's ever been powered by an internal combustion engine. Would've sucked to have to live thru the malaise era when everything was reduced to front wheel drive pieces of ish

      Just scrap them? The US has several thousand locos built in the 60's and 70's still running in Class 1 service, they are just rebuilt and updated to fit modern emissions standards. I'll give you some credit when it comes to GE locos... those do tend to be scrapped rather quickly.

    When two locos are working together , are they linked in some way so the driver at the head controls power of both ?
    Why do we see 2 trains pulling just a few carriages , seems unnecessary ?

      Yes they are connected in terms of controls. There are many reasons to double head a train, redundancy, cost efficiency for moving locos around, or more tractive effort.

      No they retained the original numbers D1000-D1073 right up to their withdrawal in 1977

      Naturally, aspirated diesels have to do that, as they flood at low speeds! 🤭🤭🤭🤭

      Steven Thornton they both have the same horsepower, but the 66 has a considerably higher maximum and continuous tractive effort.
