- 5/7/09: In their first video interview together, Leonard Nimoy and Zachary Quinto break down their 'fascinating' character's iconic ears, famous greeting and infamous fans
Nimoy - no ego, just a kind and generous man with a keen mind and a beautiful soul
the torch is passed. We have a new Spock now who has been approved of by the original. We sure are going to miss you Mr Nimoy. Thank you for being such a memorable part of my childhood
The decency within Leonard Nimoy is what made 'his' Spock believable. Quinto appears to share the same decency and sophistication that Nimoy had, and also a similarly intelligent sense of humor. He should do an honorable job of being the new Spock for years to come. RIP Leonard Nimoy, you were a big part of my childhood and young adulthood.
Thank you Leonard for being Spock and Zachary for taking over the character and in my trekkie world, Spock will always be unique and special.
Zachary Quinto is now Spock. He will be doing this for the rest of his life, and for the rest of mine. I'm so happy I get to see the torches passed to the real next generation as they re-invent Star Trek due to a temporal disturbance. It will live on forever.
An amazing interview.
Chemistry is right between them and I believe Zachary is indeed the only actor worth to take over Leonards mantle. Rest in peace Mr. Nimoy and thank you for all the wonderful hours you gave us with your art of acting (not only as Spock). An insider's tip: Have a look at Mr. Nimoy in "Deathwatch", propably the best and most difficult role he ever played...
Yes, you are right. I have the movie "Deathwatch". I think, besides Spock; his one man show "Vincent" was his best. I can't imagine standing up on stage, alone, every night in front of a live audience and putting on the performance he did. He should have gotten a Tony award for that.
Leonard Nimoy "fleshed out" the character & nature of Spock. Zachary Quinto takes the "basics" of the character, yet adds his own "uniqueness" to it.
Both are......"fascinating."
Like many of you, I have been greatly touched by Leonard Nimoy's portrayal of Spock. I've shed tears while reminiscing in the many clips I've watched this evening. Thanks, Leonard. And thanks Gene Roddenberry for your creation, Star Trek, that will outlive us all.
I like them both. Nimoy more because he just had that calm Vulcan exterior while still being quite sarcastic with witty comments on the show. While Quinto is a bit more emotional, but the Spock character as a whole is just a great character with great actors. I'm glad they are friends.
Always thought what beautiful hands Leonard Nimoy had, R I P Old friend.
I know this about 3 years old {about to be 4} but we know, we all got lucky on a actor that could only be the next Spock. We got real lucky & I'm very thankful to the universe.
Zachary Quinto did a superb Spock. A departure from Leonard's Spock but I must confess, I loved the reinterpretation of such a wonderful character.
i worship leonard nimoy but zachary quinto still makes one awesome Spock
100% agreed. Both are great! And how they're best friends is even more awesome
TheCrafterDragon true
When first seen on the NBC "HEROES' show, the producers saw the similarities, and JJ Abrams saw the potential STrek films (to move him closer to his SWars destiny). Appreciate Quinto- not into JJ ;).
Leonard Nimoy was a great man, he has truly reached the Final Frontier
These guys seem to like each other.
R.I.P. Mr. Nimoy, and Thank you.
RIP Leonard. We will never forget
I used to have a uncle who cleared his throat the same way as leanord and Laughed so hard may Leonard and my uncle Steve rip in heaven
My uncle Steve was a chain smoker like leanord
Very, very good. I loved watching the interaction between them.
Rest in peace Mr. Nimoy.
RIP old spock for all the moments
I never though anyone could replace Spock, I've been a fan of TOS as a young kid in the mid 70's. TOS fans are some of the most critical and I am one of them, I approve of Zachs portrayal of the legend that is Spock.
I miss Leonard Nimoy.
I think all the new actors did a great job filling some VERY big shoes. I could only imagine the pressure each felt knowing their body language, style, speech, everything will be examined and critiqued. I think every one stayed true to the legacy and at the same time, added some of their own characteristics.
Having said that, I’m pleased Chris pine didn’t try to imitate William Shatner broken speech style. Many have tried to copy it, very few have managed to pull it off.
RIP L. Nimoy :(
I think Zachary is a great Spock! And I've loved Spock forever! Don't think I'd follow him home!
This was 15 years DANG!!! But bro they could totally be related grandpa and grandson ❤
like spock i had a conversation with my older self he was fun and charming and he liked whiskey...... then he got mad
Ist makes me always a liitle bit sad smile when both says his "fascinating"😥🙂
Leonard Nimoy the legend of Star Trek and Zach will carry it on the perfect choice
Love Spock. This is funny..
Zachary Quinto~♥
It’s Smudge because I’ve seen him with a guinea pig named Freedom

Real Spock and millennial fake spock. Cute.
Leonard was better in the role of spock.... Had he been young, nobody else was even considered for the role
its not he was better, he created the character, which makes it impossible to follow, Zach is the only one who could pull it of because they are very similar people. you cannot recreate Spock.
@@ericacroft13 i have many actors in mind who would have played this role better than Leonard nimoy
@@Aaaaaaaaapnd fair enough, at least Nimoy was open to the role being passed on, Kirk on the other hand, there is nothing at all to that character anybody could have brought something new to it, yet Shatner is the most arrogant actor, even when the TNG cast took other. at least Nimoy was humble enough as a person to accept that it was time for change. I prefer Deforest Kelly the only one that welcomed the TNG cast.
@@ericacroft13 shatner loved kirk and he played it beautifully. Obviously he was arrogant but i don't condemn him for loving his character and not able to handover it to someone else
This guys such a tryd hard I think its funny they must sell ths to you.
