      Hey Iman. Thanks so much for a lovely message. As we are travelling on a very tight budget (and with no warm weather clothes given the fact it was 1 or 2c most of the time) we had to make our visit fairly swift, although we were a bit behind on the vlogs but are nearly up to date now. We popped to Osaka afterwards before heading back to the warmer temperatures of South East Asia, notably Hanoi in Vietnam. We're currently in Thailand now but Japan leaves a lasting memory - and we still have some peach kit kat's left over somehow! We would like to go back in the future for sure but definitely in summer! Thanks again for watching and your support. John & Becky x

    By the way, the "Mystery Gift" at the at the creepy vending machine corner is really about the weird, disturbing short story on the outside of the package, which is usually in the same style as those signs you looked up. The contents inside are just some cheap snack. Some of them even have envelopes attached with a continuation of the story. But even if you ask a Japanese person to translate the text, they will usually tell you that it barely makes sense.
    Some people think that whole location is really just a strange art installation of some kind.

    • @ParksTravelGuide
      @ParksTravelGuide  Год назад

      @@missplainjane3905 the image many have, including ourselves, is that Japan is a futuristic and high tech country. The reality is that Singapore has better tech to the public eye than Japan such as driverless underground trains and robots in daily use. The most sophisticated train in the world (Shinkansen) has a solitary power plug, yet almost all public buses in the UK have 2 USB ports plus a plug. Little things like that which leave you scratching your head. If you go without that image then you see it in a different light. Don't get us wrong Japan is incredibly beautiful as long as you don't go with the frame of mind that is portrayed from a technological point of view and absorb the cultural angle.

    • @ParksTravelGuide
      @ParksTravelGuide  Год назад

      Japan is very much a first world country. We won't lie about the fact we struggled with the language barrier a lot of the time, but it would be the same if the Japanese came to England so it works both ways. Sometimes it's nice to challenge yourself. Getting around wasn't too difficult as a lot of the signs and some announcements (like on the Shinkansen and airport trains) were in English but we had an offline version of Google translate to help. It's all part of travelling though.
