Yes. Go to the properties of the wifi adapter in windows. Go to configure. Go to advanced. Go to preferred band. Select the 2.4GHZ band. That will make it less likely for you to lose your connection due to something being in between the router and your antenna.
I was stuck with this problem for the past week or so which affected my work .. it's like the universe has sent your video on my feed 😀 Thank you for making this video 🙏
Oh man this video came at a fantastic time, I am definitely going to check these out on my network after work today because I'm not getting the speeds I should be.
Regarding 2.4 vs 5GHz, I recommend using Band Steering rather than separate networks. That way, your devices can negotiate which frequency to use based on signal integrity. You get 1 SSID, and most modern devices will be able to intelligently switch what they use depending on the signal quality where they are at that time.
Hey man, i love watching your contents because they are so detailed, not just reading stuffs from spec list. I was wondering if you could make a video on how to clean laptop which is infested with mites and also how can we keep mites away from our laptop. Thank you. Keep up the good work
On upgrading the WiFi card in the laptop: some laptop manufacturers implement a whitelist of allowed devices, like Lenovo does with some of their laptop series (not sure which models are affected). It's not impossible, but it requires some serious tinkering for countering that particular measure
do you have further information about it ? I use lenovo laptop and i want to find out compatible devices or whitelist parts if possible ? If you have information can you share?
I also got a brand spanking new router just last week to replace an old PoS wifi 4 only router, what a helluva coincidence... I never thought my shit internet get stream 1440p but holy shit a new router works wonders
Jarrod please make a video on performance and longevity of thermal pastes for laptops. Many pastes on laptops suffer from pump-out and not all provide great performance due to differences in heatsinks. But one general guide from a reviewer such as yourself would be great!
Hey Acer nitro 5 R5 5600h or i5 11300h,which one for gaming and working? . Little bit confusing because Amd doesn't feature thunderbolt, killerwifi etc. And don't know a long term review of ryzen laptops?Which would give us consistent performance. Intel or Ryzen?
I'm a network technician with a degree in Networking. Here is a protip for those using wifi: WiFi Channels 1, 6, and 11 are the only non-overlapping wifi channels on the 2.4GHz spectrum. Try to use those channels.
I never have and I work on carpet, but I have a high risk tolerance. I don't think antistatic wrist bands are required, but they can help reduce risk when working.
I found that after I upgraded my WiFi card that I couldn't connect to my previously paired Bluetooth devices or unpair them. I had to put my old card back in, unpair every device, upgrade again and repair my devices to get them to work. I got much better Bluetooth and WiFi speeds after upgrading.
Stable internet is way better than shabby signal. I bought mesh wifi orbs that only let me extend the 2.5ghz network. My wifi router supports 5ghz and my ISP provides 250Mbps, but it's far away from my bedroom. With these orbs, I get a stable speed of about 80-90 Mbps in every room, which is much better than sudden disconnects.
Yes. This is any device you connect with wifi. For something like a desktop computer, you might want to consider whether you can just use ethernet instead.
Most important thing is to get routers with SMQ and other anti-bufferbloat features to reduce stuttering and lag in latency sensitive apps like multiplayer games or voice over ip. Makes a world of difference familly and roomates can stream or torrent while you are gaming without you rubber banding ingame!
Me with Ethernet, hm yes I can feel the speed. But seriously, if anyone who use laptop near a router I would highly suggest to buy a Ethernet cable, it's cheap and super effective. (Cat 5e or cat 6 depends on your network plan speed) u won't regret it, ping drops like hell, no more lags. I bought a 20m cable and drill a hole though my room lol but it was worth it.
Don't buy CAT 5. CAT 5 maxes out at 100Mbps. Buy either CAT 5e or CAT 6. I would go with CAT 6 at the very least nowdays. Try to get CAT 6a though. Trust me, as I have a degree in Networking.
Wow!! I didn't know we could do this. Thanks I bought the dell g5 se after consulting with you on twitter. 3 days after the purchase it showed a battery problem and a hinge problem. Now my question is that should I replace the entire laptop or just the faulty parts. I am aware that Dell may use refurbished parts as mentioned in the policy and I didn't buy a new laptip to get refurbished parts. Also I can't wait for 30 to 40 days for replacement as it will be a loss to me as a freelancer. They will not give any compensation for that. What should I do?
Tip 11: find a (way to switch to a) new ISP. Sometimes the offerings are awful and in some cases it's straight up impossible to reach more reasonable speeds (the case of my friend).
#6 isn't always a good idea. my XT8 had way worse performance with the latest firmwares. had to downgrade to an older more stable version. fuck that shit.
Its all fun and games till you get "Connected, No internet" Im not sure where youblive jarrod but are you able to provide your wifi service provider? Rn I have optimum but omg they suck and force so much extra hidden costs and I want to change. I live in nyc btw.
Recently I experienced several problems connecting to gaming servers (EA, Blizzards ecc.). I First thought that could be a problem of my laptop but now I have begin to ask myself if this could be a problem of the router, since after restarting it the connection improves a lot. If anybody has a suggestion I will appreciate a lot, thank you
Hey man, which would you recommend me to buy a gl65 i7 10750h gtx 1650 or a legion 5P i5 10300h gtx 1650ti ? Prices are expensive in my country that i can even buy some better options in other nations, so please propose the best lap between 2. Thanks a lot.
How well does your new WiFi router work with your Gigabyte Aero 15 XC? Are you seeing any of the wifi issues reported by other users on RUclips and Reddit? I have a 2019 Gigabyte Aero OLED which had the same wifi issues, and I had to change my router to get the wifi to be stable. I'm thinking of upgrading to the Gigabyte Aero 15 XC but don't want to face the same old wifi issues (and faulty CPU fans) again.
I have fiber optic router for the whole house and for no reason both ps5 and ps4 (along with my 11 pro max) work best with 5ghz band I dunno why but its been that way for almost a year after we changed to fiber optic
Just requested a return on my new Asus Zephyrus G15 today because of wifi issues. Was a hardware issue (checked by the Asus technician) Will still be trying this though xD
Yes. I have a 1000/50 NBN plan. The home network is 10 gigabit though, my PC, NAS, and switches are all on 10gbe, which is useful for video editing with large files and copying 2TB of games to every laptop I test.
Do you have any extra Wi-Fi improvement tips?
