The reasons given for not attacking Pak after 26/11 wouldn't have been given so profoundly if India had attacked

Here we go again. None of the objectives have been achieved still this man says not retaliating was fine. State sponsored terrorism cannot be handled this way. It needs a mix of things. Covert action, overt action, diplomacy, exploiting fault lines etc everything should go together. By not retaliating a perception was created that India is a soft state. The reality may be different. But there was a need of overt action. When people got killed in Mumbai, it did not happen in silence. The whole world saw it. We saw the killing of fellow Indians. Had 26/11 happened in silence without loss of any life i would have supported government's decision of not going overt.

Sir great fan of your wisdom, menon sir, but nation has to take some decisions that not necessarily come in to the ambit of good wisdom.
