Estonia,latvia,Lithuania BROTHERS UNITE
+Afghan Australian Yet, you don't know what we all went through..
Juses no one cares you should just merge instead of being 3 small little countries that world doesn't a fuck about
Edgy hater.
Yap :) Gretings from Lithuania :)
+AceTheFireGamer Hello Brotha!
the zip tye is to pack up your garbage in the same bag and tye it so u don't leave unnecesary mess.
+Paul Goodwill It's a nice touch.
U got a reply from kiwi dude legend😏
It's about the same with the Swedish rations... you just seal the bag. I don't know the English word for it though... :/
Yey Lithuania Finally:D
im from there
The white on the chocolate is the separated cocoa butter and is a sign of good quality chocolate
Eyes4Wonderland I will remember that every time I'm putting a bit of dodgy-looking chocolate into my mouth ;-)
More likely it is sugar bloom.
bagelboi66 I'm almost afraid to ask... but what's sugar bloom?
Im amazed how mature Your daughter is for a kid of her age
Keep up the good work
Jean Sébastien Thank you. She's a good kid.
wow he almosed said the word šokoladas right
Nejaugi
You and Gshultz make the best reviews! I need to step up my game lol! As for the heater in mine, was a completely different type I think it was green too. As for the chocolate...Gshultz seems to have the magic of getting the nice ones HAHA! You and the boss are great. Cheers
Hey Kiwi dude! Great video! The zip tie is used to zip up the bag( green packaging) when you're done. You put all the trash in the packaging zip tie it and then hide it in your bag so no trash is left behind, for an enemy to spot or etc.
Your daughter is a star. She really makes the video sparkle.
Stanley Sprow Thanks, she is the talent in this operation - that's for sure! Lol.
The zip tie is for resealing the bag, it says on the little piece of paper :3
Your daughter is such a sweety :) Very nice presentation!
Juras Visockis Thank you.
I can't stop watching your videos they're so great! Keep up the good work man.
+Joseph Zemkosky Cheers. Glad you're enjoying them.
Uz lietuva vyrai
+Pijus Vainilavičius va kur lietuviska maista suncia :DD
Tai mazu sakau ir man kas tu sausu daviniu?
The pork stew is from the town I was born in (Kedainiai). It's nice to see that it contains products from all over the country.
It is always nice to see what other troops eat while in the field. The candies in MRE's tell me how well they were kept temperature wise. Nothing kills an MRE than high temperatures. All of mine are stored at around 65 F year round. And I avoid buying them in the warmer months.
Sorry about the burnt table.
Thanks for the reviews. Keep them up. And it is a pleasure watching the Boss grow up.
So nice seeing other people and big youtubers recognizing our small little almost forgotten country. That is so nice
Pork Stew does not look tasty, but it is 10/10, in a war itl be 50/10..
Damn... Being an soldier is very hard job for belly... D:
Walter White i think i'd sooner eat a different mre than have the pork and veg... but saying that, if i was hungry and hadnt eaten all day and in combat then yea it's food, gives you what you need!
When I first found your channel I was shocked and a bit intrigued that people reviewed MRE's!
Your daughter is precious. I love how she is so open about trying all these foods. Most children would be "I don't like it. What is it. I don't want it...blah blah blah".
betsiecow Thanks. She's pretty adventurous with her food. Great to take out to dinner!
Actually I wonder if there was some meal she didn't like. :) I'm suprised that all those MREs contain so much sweet things. Good for soldiers, good for kids. Except pancerwafles. :P I was warried about the safety of your daughter's teeth when she attacked it (Polish MRE review).
mpingo91 There are a few things she hasn't liked. Instant fish soup, Adobo rice, Cherry cobbler (to name a few). But she'll give anything a try. She does look forward to the sweet things and rations generally don't disappoint in this regard ;-)
Good review. It also gives us a glimpse of other food/cultures.
Also glad that you share your food too. : )
PREPFORIT Cheers, glad you enjoyed it :)
I think we need to get The Boss a custom "The Boss" mug for her reviews. After all, she is the boss.
Again a great video. That pork stew looks yummy! Thanks for sharing! Phil
Phil Steadman Cheers Phil, always good to hear from you. It was a nice ration.
Great vid as always Kiwi Dude, always hilarious to hear the "It's _____ Jim, but not as we know it" reference
Angus Malcolm Cheers!
I am waiting for your vids every day
I don't know why these are so addicting to watch, haha. You earned a sub from me. :)
Jason Volpe Hi Jason, welcome to the channel!
It's amazing how your daughter is so open and willing to try these rather strange foods.
Peter Truong I agree. She's pretty adventurous with the food. Way more than I ever was at that age (4).
Its nice that you liked Lithuanian MRE,i had a lot of them ,so when i saw how you eat for the first time its interesting ,good luck with your channel. P.S. Chocolate problem:storage conditions 0 +18 Celsius ,spoon problem quote often ,so we have extra metal spoon and fork with ourself ,and most lithuanians like black coffee so no cream ,and in others MRE numbers there are black tea or soup.
Thanks for clarifying. I really enjoyed this one.
+Kiwi Dude I have one of these on order. Great video.
best guess about the zip tie? I would put the trash back in the outer bag twist the top then use the zip tie to close it just like a trash bag.
shazzump I missed it at the time, but it's written on the paper that the zip tie is for re-sealing the outer bag, so you're on the money there.
You are right, a zip tie is for trash!
The addition of the stove, although there is no canned food to heat, i a nice touch. All the other MREs seem to think, that hot water just magically appear on the battlefield. lol
Thomas Cohnen Yep, definitely a nice touch!
zippyLTU Thanks heaps for providing more insight into this ration.
Kiwi Dude My plesure, I really enjoy your vids.
Another great video!
Kato Khaelan Thank you
Great review as always Kiwi Dude! I noticed that the orange drink said no sweeteners, did you detect an artificial sweetener taste at all? I was wondering if they meant no sugar when they printed no sweeteners.
David Lang Thank you. It was quite weak, so hard to detect any specific sweetness. I should have tried some of the undissolved crystals (there was a lot!).
I serve in Lithuanian Armed Forces (or as you can say Lithuanian Military (too small to be an army)), so I have eaten allot of these MREs. There is not allot of food cause when we go to exercises we carry 3 MREs for one day. Chocolate really doesn't look like this, as I see, yours been melted cause of heat while sending it. This is not the best MRE, but still does its job :)
Hi there, great to hear from someone from Lithuania. Overall, it was a pretty decent ration. I always get the 'odd' chocolate, so I don't hold that against it ;-)
I know that on some other ration videos people have made, it can be confusing how much water to add because mixing instructions may be for a British crusader mug vs. a German canteen cup or another type of cup and they may not all be alike. One way I have found to tell if there is in fact artificial sweetener in the drink mix is I usually get a funny after taste.
Suchary doesn't mean biscuits in polish (biscuits means "ciastka" in polish) and I think suchary should rather be considered as a substitute to bread than kind of biscuits. Word "suchy" means dry in polish so suchary are just dry things :) made in a way they can last very long. This spice inside giving it unique aroma is cumin. I remember that I ate them as a child but didnt see them in stores for a while here in Poland (maybe you can buy them in small stores).
Kiwi Dude
No problem. I checked at polish "e-bay style" site and there are a lot of offers with suchary of same manufacturer as seen on your videos. Think ill buy some to recall the taste (I remember them being though as hell :)) 6 pieces of suchary for about 0,5$ :) Keep up great job with your videos.
Suchary has caraway seeds, it's traditional spice added to bread products in some parts of Poland, Lithuania and other slavic countries.
It's called 'kminek' not to be confused with 'kmin' which is polish name for cumin.
And yeah, they are the same brand as the ones in polish MRE. Made in Poland.
cheers from Poland
Maciej Sankowski I was wondering about that - caraway seeds are common in rye bread too...
Maciej Sankowski Lithuania is not a slavic country
"Suchar" (Сухарь) is a word for dried bread in Russian and number of related Slav languages, from what I know. It's probably similar to this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zwieback
So the pack Kiwi had literally simply said "special dried bread".
BTW Why I sometimes can't help but LOL when I look at the reviews for Eastern European MREs. No offense, but to me as to a Russian person most of the labeling makes sense since it's all in related Slav languages XD I know that won't be the case with the Westerners, but still...
Love the vids btw
Good little ration, I'd say the zip tie is for field stripping/reuse after you've opened the pouch?
Christmas Crustacean I think you're 100% correct on that one. As I watched through the video again, I read the list of contents, the tie is listed as something to seal the packet or similar.
Hey kiwi dude what is your favorite us mre becaudpse I've never had one but I would like to try one any suggestions
I love the 'Southwest Beef Black Beans' it's top of my list so far.
Hey kiwi dude great vid. What time did upload this its luke 10 here in hawaiiXD.your channel is growing fast. Lastly you always get me cracking up with the magicXD
clouddamoon darin Hi mate, it finished uploading at about 7:30pm over here on Sunday night. Glad you liked it.
You Almost Sed Šokoladas Perfectly
I was skeptical about the taste of the pork stew until I saw your Daughter going back for more. Kids don't lie.
Im always concerned about using frameless heaters in side, you seem to be ok with. You dont think anything could go wrong?
On the US flameless heater i get from the surplus store, they say to keep them away from flames. So there releasing flammable gases(i guess)
IceSamurai Dono Hi there, I believe (but don't quote me) that the FRH's may give off Hydrogen gas, but in such small quantities as to be insignificant in normal use. If you were to cram 50 people into a sealed little room all using FRH's and someone decided to have a smoke... well... who knows? Somebody that's a lot more scientific than me will hopefully comment on this one :-)
Do they grind the pork up so fine to aid in digestion?
Hey kiwi dude, how did you get into reviewing mre,nz orp is my favorite.
nz trooper Just a fascination with military food and the technology and thought that goes into them. I was watching reviews just like yourself and purchased a ration. I thought "May as well film it" not really intending to put it on RUclips. The rest they say - is history :-)
2016...THAT BISCUIT CAN TRAVEL THROUGH TIME!!!
Patrick Takada I wonder if the magic happened once it hit 88mph in the plane to get here ;-)
Haha your daughter went ham on the meat at first lol... Very awesome
Thx kiwi
The light residue on the chocolate is sugar bloom. It is just sugar that has migrated to the surface and crystallized. As you mentioned it does not affect taste. Tempering the chocolate will take care of the bloom. Or you can just eat it!
Ohhhh, there we go :-)
How do you temper chocolate (tilts head in curiosity) ?
Jaybird196 I have thoughts in my head of it running around a small, circular paddock, getting the occasional whip from the trainer ;-)
Kiwi Dude LOL. As for me, I rather imagined leaving it in a forge for a bit, intermittently beating it with a hammer, and finishing up placing the red-hot bar in a bucket of water to cool ;).
Jaybird196 Lol... thanks for the chuckle after a long day :-)
Biscuits have caraway seeds on them, thats why the taste like that :)
over9000 Delicious!
you should try the number 2. my favorite :)
The zip tie threw me off as well. Never seen anything like that before.
Ur daughter should become a food critic she would be perfect for it
Maybe one day! Watch out for her :-)
Great vid. I like how ever since the US started the MRE program in the 80s, many other countries used similar techniques as the US. Although I don't see why the gave you a stove and FRH
Lime Guy117 I can only assume the stove would help boil water to sterilise for drinking, perhaps even melt snow?
I saw on the drink packaging that it says it is without sweeteners, maybe it would be better with some of that sugar the next time you tuck in to one? :O
This stew had seen too much canola oil (I noticed it mentioned among the ingredients on the package).
im from Lithuania just found you :D love it
SKYcry321 Greetings from New Zealand. Welcome to the channel!
the plastic thing is like ziplock, you put the two ends together and you just pull it and lock wathever you want you should try
And you can use it for millions of resons, for using it as a belt to just wanting to combine something
I should be getting my French 24 hour rations in the mail tomorrow thinking about doing a video on it.
dick johnson Go for it, and let me know, I'd be keen to have a look!
The only thing I can imagine the zip-tie being useful for is sealing back up the main entree for special reasons (emergencies where you don't get to finish your meal, or you've decided to only eat half now, half later), and use the stove and fuel to re-heat. That, or possibly the temporary carriage of relatively small amounts of water or waste, human or otherwise (and in the second case, for future disposal).
Jaybird196 I suppose a nice little versatile addition to the pack. On the contents list it mentioned something about the zip tie and packaging. I only saw it after the video had been posted.
Kiwi Dude Well, it certainly makes me feel happy to know that my line of educated-guessing was, to some extent, on the right track, heh ;) .
I really love watching your videos and your daughter is quite the little cutie pie! But for some reason, the sound of anyone lip smacking their food freaks me out hahah. She sure does inhale it pretty quickly! This mre looked sooo darn yummy & I would love to try it! I will most definitely continue to watch your videos! Cheers from Canada.
Jansen Turner Lol.. I try to edit out most of the lip smacking ;-) Glad you're enjoying the vids from the Commonwealth. Cheers.
Kiwi Dude thanks for the reply! Its actually pretty comical how fast she downs it! Makes me giggle every time! The lip smacking is part of everyones childhood LOL. Shes super adorable, so I think I can handle a few moments of it :) heheh. Its 0430 here right now and all ive been watching is MRE videos. Plus, you have an awesome accent! I could listen to it all day long! Wish we had accents hahah
Jansen Turner I wish she downed her dinner with such enthusiasm. Sounds like you've had an MRE marathon there. I bet you raided the fridge.
BTW: The Canadian accent is nice :-)
I think this one is the closest to the US MRE. I found out that you can take the heated entre out of the box, tear the FRH half way down, open the entre and put it and the heater back in the box. It will stay warmer while you eat, and it won't burn your hands. Great job as usual.
Dan Hayami Thanks Dan. That FRH approach makes perfect sense. Pretty versatile heater.
i remember eating this with a pleasure, want one now too xD
I think these rations should be rated in "Yammy" points.
5 for a top notch ration and 1 for a poor one.
I mean, seriously.
The kid narrowed it down for us guys hehe
Gabriel Guarienti Machado Lol.. great idea. I'll see if I can edit in a 'Yam-o-Meter' in the next vid :)
Nice!
I would love to see that!
The oxidized chocolate is something called blooming, it's when the chocolate comes out of its tempered state and the cocoa butter separates from the actual chocolate. And yes typically it's fine after it blooms but it can also be a sign of age.
Kristina Marie Thanks. Blooming chocolate seems to have a way of finding me!
I'm lithuanian, and you pronounced "Šokoladas" right. But you need to say Shokolodas, because Š=Sh. Great video!
You're right, it was an expiration date.
Those little bits in the drybread are caraway seeds
If you look closely to at the crater in the chocolate bar, on the right hand side, you can see the small cave the Millennium Falcon flew into to escape the tie fighters.
Wouldn't the ziptie be for sealing the heating element?
skywalker6119 I guess you could use it any way you wanted, but something I overlooked on the contents card was a sentence stating that it was for resealing the bag. Nice of them to think of it.
what happened to the MRE firing attack drone?
wmr0225 It's coming I promise :) Winter weather has been a bummer.
Vis dar laukiu lietuviško komentaro :D
TheIeva Štai Lietuvos komentarą?
Atleast you tried
TheIeva Lol
TheIeva Kąą tu
Pasidalink facebooke tikrai parasys ;)
how do yu stir counter clockwise
Iron wolfs! hehe .. i like your MRE reviews!
Tequilla070 Cheers.
I love the official 'Rock or something'. Hehehe...
the zip is meant for the dark green main bag. You cut open the main bag and when you eat everything you put the trash inside of it and then zip tie the bag so all the trash is in one place :)
***** Thank you.
Mini stove- good addition...
First MRE entree I would hesitate to eat, even the darn astronaut chicken looked better lol
10:42 nice joke with the ration heater instructions there. "Rock or Something."
6:42 "the mysterious ziptie" is for the green bag, wich is packed MRE you use it as a trashpack or smth.. you put the trash in a bag ans then ziptie it, its for not littering if its not obvious yet..
btw i call those biscuits stonecrackers :D
+Simas Parkour Nice attention to detail including that zip tie.
Kiwi Dude
np, i ate them lots of times and the zip is always helping me leaving the place without dropping any trash :D
Small stove AND a FRH...great idea.Of course the instructions on the FRH were missing one very important step.
" Lean against Roko ar kažkas "
Bill23799 The belt and braces approach to heating, but yeah - no Roko!
haha i wore belt and suspenders once........never felt so secure in my life. Those pants were not going anywhere.
Ok i have a theory. I believe in some parts of the world
" Thumbs Down " means they really like something.
What else would explain the 8 thumbs down for this video?
Don't know about Polish, but in Russian (сухари) and Latvian (сухари), mean Rusks, and more specifically: rusks of twice baked or just dried bread, because both Russian and Latvian names indicate that product has been dried and is dried).
So in Latvian correct name for the contents of pack would still be "sausie cepumi", and "cepumi" apply to biscuits and cookies, so descriptice adjective is added.
But typical "sausiņi" and "Сухари" look like this: www.adugs.lv/sites/default/files/produkta_bilde/37.jpg, allthough they can be made of any flour and with adding raisins, nuts etc. zo.lv/media/img//ef/a4/daugulis-and-partneri-5118e7b97329c.jpg
Ieva Zagante Thank you.
+Ieva Zagante You guess right. In Polish "suchary" is from adjective "suchy" (dry) or verb "suszyć" (to dry) and it mean dryied slices of bread which of course is a form of maintenance the bread for long period of storing.
And fun fact: in modern language "suchar" (singular for suchary) is a name for bad joke (dry and not tasty) ;)
wow, that "stew" looked like it had already been eaten once... glad it tasted better than it looked though lol
***** Lol... Yep, it tasted much better than it looked.
Skonis labai geras!
It's interesting to see what my country uses for our military, but I suppose it isn't every filling, is it?
hahaha i am lithuanian * BROKEN SPOON* XD
dalbajob
sports drink crystals and powdered coffee? -- it's bizarro world
I remember when we were issued these things on basic training..we sat on the shitter all day :DD BTW a civillian can't really get a Lithuanian ration legally in our country :/
Jokūbas Burba Uh oh. I'm fortunate to have escaped that effect. I quite enjoyed this one.
I have one coming in the mail I can't wait to see what menu I get.
+Yukon12gauge Awesome!
+Yukon12gauge How was that?
Still waiting but I cant wait to check it out!
Got it yet lol
have it???
puse komentaro genio :) na man labai idomu butu pasiziuret, kaip rytu vyrai valgo ar maitinasi, noretu jie speju ir to nepilno sokolado, kokio man neteko matyt ir ragaut, tad as jo ir nevalgyciau, o paaukociau, kas jo net neragave ie nemate.
Tried it before when i was in lithuanian army
Have you heard of mountain house freeze dried food they have great meals had one tonight
Plus always love reviews
Stephen Clutter I've heard of them, but they don't have them here in New Zealand. Mountain House, if you're watching.... ;-)
Stephen Clutter Cheers. Glad you're enjoying them.
What a shame they are great
Kiwi Dude If I ever come across spare money (Money is tight in these times) I would love to send one for a review. I'll have to add that to my list of fun but not practical purchases!
That's a fucked up chocolate bar if ever I saw one..
Sofa Anders I always have the worst luck with ration chocolate ;-)
Kiwi Dude in case it hasnt come to your attention before... ithe milky white-brown coating on the chocolate bars (usually the deformed ones) isnt oxidation. Its called bloom and its just the cocoa fat separating out from the solids due to temperature changes ( chocolate is 'tempered' in a specific process of heating and cooling and changing that after its set can result in this) . its perfectly safe, just a little grittier. hope this helps.
rob burlington Thanks. I'll have to remember that term, because it's guaranteed that I'll strike many more like it ;-)
no prob hopefully i can bring you some more terms for spoilage... i know a lot of them lol.
15:22 looks like lithuania trolled you a little with that chocolate
wow......I have never seen an MRE that came with a small stove and compressed fuel tablets.
" It's chocolate Jim, but not as we know it "
hahahahaah
Bill23799 My luck with chocolate in rations has never been the best. I set the bar pretty low nowadays, and if it's edible - it's a win.
You are brave to try that dried out chocolate bar. I pownder if you pulverized it if it might be ok mixed with hot water as Hot coa coa
Bill23799 Not a bad idea at all. I might try that with the next sad looking chocolate bar.
A tribute to your language skills that you knew i meant " I wonder if you pulverized..... " when i typed " I pownder if you pulverized "
( I really need to self edit more )
Just a thought, but to be authentic when you were sampling the orange energy drink you should probably have swapped "Buk Sveikas" for "Cheers" (pronounced "books-vay-cass") Nice review - I must mention it to my pal who used to be in the Lithuanian army
Pete Stean If I try another Lithuanian ration, I'll be sure to remember this comment ;-)
Kiwi Dude or you could say "į sveikatą" (ee-svei-cat-aa) which would be more accurate to translate cheers to Lithuanian :)
TheCoolcy Thanks ;-)
You should try the American Menu #9 Beef Stew its amazing.
Its a MRE by the way.
thespartan95 Awesome, I've got that one in the cupboard (2012 vintage). It'll be surfacing in a vid sooner or later.
Kiwi Dude Cool can't wait to see it, subscribed by the way. Do you know a good place to by MRE's besides Ebay? Its always a bid for them and the ones you don't have to bid for they are sent to you at random.
thespartan95 Welcome to the channel! If you're in the states, I hear Armygear.net could be a good place. Otherwise, searching eBay for 'MRE case' usually summons a few deals. I got my last case of U.S. MREs delivered to N.Z for a steal.
Kiwi Dude Is 2012 really vintage?;-))
I think this is the first time I heard YOU say yummy
Malcolm Nathrien Lol.. It must be rubbing off on me.
The ziptie is to put everything back in the bag so you do not leave trash everywhere
Maybe not cumin, but from that area I might suspect caraway seed which does look a lot like cumin.
Kiwi Dude Polish guy here.
I saw "kminek" on the pack, and it does indeed stand for caraway.
***** Awesome, thanks for clarifying.
Dawid Dubanosow
Piast was the first royal bloodline in Poland by the way, thus Suchary Specjalne "Piastowskie".
nice video greetings from Mèxico
Do you can sell me some MRE of others country's?
(sorry for my bad english, im rusty )
Hi there, and thanks. Unfortunately, all the rations I get end up as review videos on RUclips. I don't have a bulk supply to sell etc... Keep checking out eBay though :-)
That biscuits contains caraway, thats why they have that flavor :P
***** Thanks, it really lifts the taste.
