Actually there is love, Buffy tell Angel that Spike is in her heart so it's understood that Buffy loves Spike. She's not telling only but deep inside her she truly loves Spike. Since hello Spike is always there for Buffy he never leaves her as in, also Buffy can share anything to Spike what she feels and so on, cause Spike is the only one who can understand her, who won't judge Buffy Spike is just der listening to her that. They have a connection from each other so that's why they truly click together that 😍😍❤️❤️💞💞
@@tonyabel9203Actually the script for chosen says “ Buffy tells spike she loves him and means it” “Spike knows she does but says no you don’t to set her free since he is dying” it’s sad because when she finally admits she loves him it’s to late for them to truly be together
they so should have continued their growth and bond going forward, she was already falling in love with him.....Spike's entire character arc was beautifully portrayed by Marsters. 'tell me the truth'....SHE was initiating it, that it meant something to HER..after she sent Angel away and chose to spend her possible last night alive w/ Spike in the basement...wasted chance for epic continued love story
She sent Angel away cause she didn't want him to die and she would of never been with spike yall forget she is human she might want to get married have kids and have a human life
Angels moment of pure happiness was sleeping with Buffy once. Spikes slept with her a bunch of times but his moment of pure happiness was holding her. Says something about him.
Idk...I think the argument has been made before that Angel's moment of true happiness wasn't necessarily sex with Buffy, but the post-sex holding her, being with her, much like Spike here. His soul didn't go away *right* after sex with Buffy, we see it after he's been lying next to her for quite some time (or at least implied quite some time due to the editing of that episode.) I think Angel's loss of soul probably happened in a similar moment together with Buffy as with Spike. It proves both men loved her for her. I'm not saying this as a BuffyxAngel shipper at all. I shipped Buffy with Angel when she was with Angel, and I totally understand Buffy and Spike have a deep love for each other, so ultimately, I ship both couples during their time. Ultimately, I ship Buffy with neither man - which is why I love that the series ended with her alone, but not lonely.
@@raelindenberg But you see, Buffy and Angel stayed together for a long time after he came back from the hell dimension They hugged and kissed and trained ..etc I think they did every romantic thing including sleeping next to each other but he never lost his soul She was next to him, in love with him, touching him.. he even fed on her which should be very pleasurable and sensual but he never lost his soul The only thing he refrained from ever foing to keep his soul intact was the sex So this is a cute theory but I don't think it match the canon of the show
@@enasbassiony7676 I'd say it's a little more than a "cute" theory...it's a solid one based on the canonical editing of that episode. He doesn't lose his soul in the middle or right after sex with Buffy, it's only after being with her afterward for an extended period of time, the post-coital bliss, if you will, that he loses his soul. Ergo, there's the visual text that COULD canonically support this theory. I'm not even saying it's a theory I 100% buy. Sex is inherently messy and complicated in the Buffyverse wherever vampires are involved. Passion of the Nerd discusses this in his videos much better than I can here in a (probably pointless) RUclips comment, but to say it's a "cute theory not supported by the show canon" is not entirely true (not to mention a little condescending depending on your tone.) You don't have to buy that theory (again, I'm not certain I do myself), but the specific editing choice in that scene where he loses his soul SUPPORTS the theory as a plausible one within the canon. Not the ONLY explanation, but merely ONE that the text does allow for via individual interpretation.
Every time I rewatch Buffy, I can't wait for this scene. It completely shows their love in the most intimate way possible, where it's not about sex but it's just about them and what they bring to each other.
One of the best Spike and Buffy scenes. You can feel the passion between the two. You can slowly see it begin to dawn on Buffy that she loves him, just isn’t ready to admit that yet. Not cookies yet. Beautiful performance here between Sarah and James. You can feel the chemistry. “Were you there with me?” “I was.” Gorgeous scene and the music score just fit perfectly! ❤️
This is why I prefer Spuffy over Angel and her. I feel as if their relationship is true and raw and just real. Angel and her was always a fairytale/epic romantic relationship that just wasn't real. That isn't how real life works at least not for the majority. Just my view at least.
@@trentrossdale638 I definitely agree with you! Spuffy is definitely more of a real life relationship. Even Joss said that with Buffy and Angel, you’d get bored soon after them being together after the whole ‘ angst‘ of them just before they got together. And that isn’t the case with Spike and Buffy. To me they are definitely the most entertaining and real couple.
James does yes but for me I prefer the early Buffy era James rather than the latter. I remember reading somewhere but can't remember where to post it unfortunately he developed some eating disorder problems over staying fit for this role.

Out of all the relationships Buffy had, Spike is her soulmate. They understand each other and can relate. They have a chemistry, I can't explain it but their chemistry is so real
The one thing Spike did that no other guy was able to do after Angel, was make her vulnerable again or seeing her vulnerable. Season 5 when she learns about her mom and the Cat Scan, then being the first one to know about how she was in Heaven, it's partially what terrified her is the fact that she opened herself up to Spike in a way she hadn't done since Angel.
well one she did go see angel but we don't know what she said to him and what he said to her cause of the whole dumb angel and buffy show can't do crossovers so we really don't know how much she open up to angel but again angel and buffy where in their own world and 2 angel would of never did those things spike did to buffy cause angel is not that type of person
@@91mercedez Yet, Spike was starting to change before he got his soul. Sure he still did acts that were reprehensible because of no soul, but the change in his character, his William self that we know before he became a vampire was there. Angel didn't change until he had his own soul forced upon him, and when he loses that soul, becomes a complete douche. Spike is the reverse of that, he was starting to change become more of himself with out his soul, but after what he did Buffy, and how hard that hit him, he could no longer be stuck in this middle ground. He went and fought for his soul and unlike Angel, he isn't at risk of losing his and returning to being a complete douche bag like Angel does. It's funny how Angel get's praised for being good when it was forced upon him, while Spike wanted and decided to become a better man of his own choosing.
@@KeithEngel I agree somewhat but also angel went 100 years trying to better himself and he did and yes he can be a dick so can spike but honestly, regardless of any of that we have to ask who was better for buffy we will never know cause both men had good parts and bad parts they both loved buffy out of this world but buffy knew it would never work and like buffy said she wont ever be normal but i do think angel and buffy relationship ,old them into who they are now
@@KeithEngel actually, with or without a soul, Spike won’t change anymore. In the comics, Spike had Willow try to give Dru his soul to help her, and because of her insanity, she couldn’t deal with it, so Spike had Willow re-ensoul him to spare Dru pain. So even without a soul, he won’t change much, he’ll still be the man he’s trying to be here, because he loves Buffy and he has an extended support group in the comics
I love this scene. The tenderness, the openness, and the ability to be vulnerable with each other; shows that they are closer to whole as individuals and that they are healing enough to trust one another.
Agreed. It’s such a shame that Buffy didn’t love Spike as much as he loved her. I mean, he got his soul back for her. If that’s not love, I don’t know what is. Go, team Spike.
@@jordanelza8806 I agree but I think the reason we didn’t see Buffy love him as much as he did was cause Spike loved her first. It took damn near the whole series for Buffy to say the words I love you to him so if the series continued past S7 I believe we would have seen it. Buffy just got to the place where she fell in love with him then boom series done 😢so disrespectful to Spuffy fans lol but I totally get it
Can we just acknowledge the HUGE character development of UN-souled Spike from attempting to force Buffy to admit some feelings/or chance he has with her VS ensouled Spike who has no romantic expectation from Buffy. ❤
@@tek512 first of all, the friendzone is not a thing, if you are only friends with someone because you expect one day to date them, then just don't be their friend because you don'y really care about them. And second, buffy and spike are a canon couple in the comics, i think they even live together.
@@tek512 they dated in the comics. buffy even wanted to run away with him when she realized she was going to have a baby, but she decided she couldn't do it and asked him to support her when she does the abortation. and spike(and angel) is in her sexual fantasy in season 8.
I love the fact that when Buffy says ‘I don’t wanna be the one’ Spike sacrifices himself for her. Also when Spike helps her defeat Angelus in season 2 he says ‘I wanna save the world’ and the fact that he lived up the that as well. Spike will always be my favourite Buffy character
He was supposed to die in S2 when the church or whatever it was all came crashing down. Instead they put him in the wheelchair and kept him alive. Because Joss saw how much people loved him. And then he basically became the show for both Buffy and Angel.
The music in this scene shows alot too. The way it builds up as buffy says yes she was there with him. It keeps building making us anticipate if she going to confess her love, then she asks “does it have to mean something” ,the music falls leaving us with just a still note in backround as they both brush past what they feel for each other. When the music comes back its sad and sentimental, it has that feeling you get when something isn’t finished and you know it never will be. This scene warmed my heart but it broke it too :(
It always get my eyes wet. "Does it have to mean something? It would mean the world to me." I wish this was his answer. And every time I see his vulnerability I get so moved. Wish I had one like him.
@@rossshin184 you might have Spike's vulnerability! I like your words! I too wish he'd said those words! I've been watching series 2 again and even in the early days I see the amazing chemistry between them! Angel and Buffy not much chemistry, it's like a teenage crush on Buffys part! James Marsters a great actor especially when he talks with an English accent! So good at first I thought he was from England!
this has got to be my TOP spuffy moment. it’s a glimpse of love between the two that hadn’t truly been seen for them yet at all, and it was mutual. the night that they had had meant a lot to the both of them, and it was a simplistic night. it’s the little things that count. the fact that this was the best night of spikes life means A LOT. god i love these two in season 7, sure they didn’t have any kisses in this season but they had a lot of loving, cherish-able moments together and by the end of the season buffy can finally admit to herself that apart of her loves spike.
Beautiful comment . I love Spuffy too it’s my favorite ship. But I think her love was full not partial. But it was a LONG complicated journey to get there. It wasn’t immediate like maybe others she’s been with.Season 7 maybe last but the show continues in the comics and they become canon
idk, but it's the scenes where the two characters just hold hands or do that forehead thing that could turn into a kiss but doesn't...AGH. It hits home so much more than them sleeping together. Him holding her says something so much deeper emotionally than being with her physically. Just me?
We already knew he loved her. Having a Soul just strengthened that. This is where we found she loved him. "Were you there with me?. I was." That sentence shows just how she felt, even if she couldn't admit it. He gave her strength. Even when that strength made him weaker.
I wouldn't say having a soul strengthened his love for her, it purified it. Soulless his love took the form of obsession and manifested into abusive tendencies, he needed her to love him back (her happiness was secondary to that) & that's not what real love is. The mini speech he gave before "seeing red" in S6, and the one in S7 before that night perfectly sum up the differences between them. One is a guy looking at love as this animalistic thing that starts & ends with primal attraction fuelled by passion alone, the other guy understands it's FAR more than that. It's achieving an inner peace that doesn't require mutual reciprocation to sustain itself, that underneath the passion it's quiet & restful knowing you're in the presence of someone who gives you renewed hope in the world. That my friend, is pure love.
He is experiencing love for the first time in his life. True love I mean, not that shit he had with Dru, or even that obsession with Cecile( or whatever her name was) when he was a poet. THIS is the true love.
No I'm sorry but Buffy didn't love him. Watch last episode and she leaves him to die on his own. Ran off and didn't even drag him or even try lift him on her shoulder to carry him out. I'm sorry but no she didn't!!!! I think sequel should of happened with spike in hell dimension realising she left him and examining the realisation that she didn't even drag him up the steps 'superhuman' but not even attempt? I still can't watch that scene without getting irritated at her.....for God sake what the hell else could spike do? He blatently loved her....beyond question nor doubt. ........going to that scene now to finish my opinion on that
always found spike as the better of the two between him and angel, angel was forced to have a soul, spike on the other hand had to grow in everyway to get to a point were he made the choice to be a better person, a better vampire. in the end he wanted his soul back because he knew Buffy needed someone with it.
He deserved her love in the end. "No you don't but thanks for saying it" that broke my heart. She did love him and the writers fkd up huge! After she said it, he should have repeated it tearing up...then exploded into light! 🤭
Totally agreed. She did love him and I wish they had made that moment more tender. I have watched that scene endless times thinking she said it because she felt she needed to. Partly because of the way she sounds so unsure of herself when she does. But I think that’s it. She was so unsure of herself and realized it way too late. But the little nod she gives when she says it was what made me see it differently. That she loved him and she meant it. She wasn’t just telling him for the sake of telling him. By then, she had too much respect for him to do that. I also love the 1 second shot of his face when he and Angel are talking to Andrew in Italy in S5 of Angel, and Andrew says, “She loves both of you .” Angel looks at Spike and Spike’s expression was a 1 second clip of, “My God. She does love me.” Those expressions are everything and S7 of Buffy has endless expressions between Buffy and Spike that speak volumes.
No she didn’t. Woman came back from the dead. Part of her stayed dead. She was using Spike to feel alive. Spike got the feels and suddenly she wasn’t interested and he got friendzoned. The latter half is just like real life.
I love how he backed off when he asked what it meant and buffy asked if it needed to mean anything. To just let that moment remain perfect for them was growth for him. He could have pushed her into giving him and answer and it would have pushed her away but he's learnt that isn't how he gets to have her. Kills me that they couldn't be together here but this was the nicest interaction they had after being together and that was perfect.
Unfortunately, true love like this is very rarely seen these days. Love, where someone is willing to be vulnerable, and bare their feelings at the risk of being hurt, to show someone just how much they care. I'm a 64 year old man, a country boy who has seen a lot in this old world, and have loved, when not loved in return, many times. That being said, I can relate to Spike and his situation. This is one of my favorite scenes of the show, and Spike is only second to Buffy in being my favorite character.
I legit have to say. I ship them. More than any other couple. Because they were so very bad for each other and so toxic bad before. but they legit, connected. they both went through some terrible shit. both realized they were shitty and using and toxic. and both... did better. Truly did better.
lol na.... if you know this show, you know Spike was everything buffy hated 1st of all. And i dont even mean as a vampire, i mean as a man. he was childish, completely lacked mystery unlike Angel, just a big kid with a demon inside him. When he got his soul he tried to 180 but at that point she just felt sorry for him.... He was always in the friend zone at best. even when they got physical
@@fgcpeak9591 that’s your opinion. Angel was cursed with a soul issue but Spike legitimately earned his to be one a better person. I like how Buffy hated him in the beginning because duh he started as a pure villain. My fav love stories are the slow burn ones. Not the predictable quick Romeo/Juliet like Angel. You can ship whatever you want but don’t judge Spike unfairly just because you don’t ship him and Buffy. And btw he was freindzonw for a while but then it changed . I guess you missed the very last ep of season 7
This really was spikes season. I have loved this show and watched it when it was airing. But I never cried until this season, when spike asked buffy "can we rest now? Buffy, can we rest??" It was such a powerful and moving moment.
2:40 and onwards, especially 3:48...buffy's expression mirrors the way she looks at spike when she finally tells him she loves him. i think a major element of season 7 was buffy silently proving she loved spike, even without admitting it to herself. i think in this moment she started thinking about what she felt
Man this scene was amazing. It's just boggles after all these years this relationship brings me to tears. Buffy and Spike started out as mortal enemies and to watch their relationship evolved into this is amazing. I love Spike speech about never been close with anyone in a emotional way. This coming from a guy who truly loved Drusilla without a soul for a century and believing he found eternal love only to not be. Its just amazing.
Omg right😢 I cry every time I watch this cause William/Spike only really wanted love above all else and he never received it from anyone up until this point. That is why Spike deserves her heart. He fought harder for it.

Yes Spike has come a long was since season 2. So amazing he started off as pure villain. Back then it looked like there was no hope for him. Buffy saved him. But I know they helped each other throughout time. Slow burn love stories are the best! My fav couple
Spike and Buffy’s love theme is so beautiful and seriously under appreciated. I love instrumentals and sorry I don’t get goosebumps listening to Angel/Buffy’s theme like this melody. And no it’s not cause I’m a Spuffy shipper. Just hits better ❤
I love it when Spike called Buffy Love, since Buffy accept it unlike before Buffy doesn't like Spike calling her that But here Buffy likes it already so that's good 😍😍💞💞
spike loved buffy. entirely. his love was wholesome. holding her as she slept was his magical moment. the love between angel and buffy was like puppy love. that first innocent love. the love that spike and buffy had, was real. it was raw. at the end of this series, when buffy told spike she loved him, it was true. after everything they've been through, i believe she did love him entirely. i wish the writers would have made it so he believed her
I think when he said that he was harking back to the time she said that to him when he said he loved her. When Spike told Buffy he loved her she said no you dont, but it was more like a 'no, dont' cause she couldn't deal with it but they both knew it was true. So when he says it back to her it is also like saying 'no, dont', because she would be alone, but they both know it is true. It is him protecting her again, that she is not alone when he is gone.
@@NB-ig8ziGood to know. But that was a dumb decision in a line of already dumb decisions they made during this romance plot. Especially considering this was their final scene together for the rest of the series.
how can a woman love a man who childishly pursued her as a vampire and then flipped the script when he got the soul. buffy couldnt love spike cuz he was too predictable while being evil. she literally juyst used him for sx. she likely didnt even truly enjoy it, it was driven by anguish not a pursuit for pleasure she tried really hard to like him after but he simped way too hard unlike Angel
@@fgcpeak9591 so ironic you say spike was “too predictable when being evil” lol as if Angelus wasn’t. Of course Buffy sleeping with Spike in season 6 couldn’t be genuine because there were 2 problems. One Buffy was in a dark place and saw him as something convenient to try and get out of it. And two Spike was still souless. But at least she could still sleep with him. I’m gonna counter your lame argument and say Buffy couldnt sleep with Angel successfully EITHER. Because every time Angel reached the peak of happiness. He would become dangerous Angelus.. someone Buffy could never be around. Of course there were times she couldn’t be around souless Spike but even Souless Spike had good moments like watching over Dawn when they thought Buffy died. Buffy wouldnt trust just anyone to do that. However, souless Angel was 100% not trustworthy. Buffy could never be with Angel because she would have to infinitely walk on egg shells with him because sadly his curse is permanent. But at least post soul Spike was cured. Plus Buffy finally said “ I love you” in the end by her own choice.. with no one forcing her. If you think they’re not canon fine but that’s your opinion. Whether you care or not, they end up together in the comics season 8. Spike doesn’t really die. He is resurrected in the Angel show.
@@lessismore8533 That is WAY too much for me to read over a simple point I made, but know this fact: Angel was known for being INVENTIVE with his evil and unpredictable which is why he achieved legend status so idk what youre on about buddy - what he did to Drusilla for instance, was an intricate, complex evil that had a lot of mini bits - he drove her insane deliberately over the span of months. How is that predictable lmfao
@@fgcpeak9591lol sorry buddy but Spike was her best sex…knowing your partner’s likes in the bedroom is actually very important in a relationship and who else was she getting intense sex from? Whether like William or Spike there is one thing that never changes in him, his desire to find his soul mate, the desire to love and be loved and to be able to make that deep connection that can give strength, happiness and meaning to his existence. He was a misunderstood soul from the beginning, an empathetic, kind, shy and loving existence who was ridiculed and mistreated by despicable beings who found pleasure in bullying him. He was such a good and caring human being that even when he lost his soul and was turned into a monster by Angelus' teachings there was still some humanity left in him. He always showed the ability to love and even empathize with others above any vampire seen before, enough even to be able to understand that there was something wrong with him that he had to change for his own good and the good of those he loved. He went on a suicide mission that could destroy him, he decided to do everything to recover his soul even if he died in the attempt. After that he was burned with guilt, torment and depression and suffered to regain his free will. Buffy and Spike are soulmates, they both know the pain and weight of their actions, they were tormented and abused souls who found each other to become the support, courage, love and strength they needed to continue living.
2.19 "it was the best night of my life And knowing spike had lived vampire years!!!! Basically living dead.... It's too much💔💔💔💔💔💔 The music really delicately delivered. Beautiful
I like these scenes you kind of see the Spike facade disappear and William emerge. I kind of feel like that night was were Buffy started to fall in love with Spike.
She has absolutely no idea what to do with the level of love she feels for him. Angel may have been a sweety to her, but Spike is her true love. Hes in a league shes not qualified for.
He was not her true love would true love abuse you force you no and no she did not love spike she cared very deeply about him. love and care are two different things you can care about somebody very deeply and it also can make you do crazy things but is it really love? like she said he is in her hurt and always will be but that don't mean you love somebody like buffy said about angel she will never love anything more than him she would of given up everything just to be with him and lets not forget in the last ep of buffy she told angel she does think that far ahead and he said he is not getting any older meaning somewhere maybe in another lifetime they will be together
@@91mercedez technically, they are in love in the comics and spent a year together, then mutually broke up in season 12, season 12 leaves the door open for them one day
@@91mercedez 1) holy run on sentence, batman. 2) they really did and do love one another and it's evidenced so clearly here and all his actions he made to atone for what he did to her before he left to reclaim his soul. Truth is, they were both insanely toxic for one another for different reasons; she used him as an emotional crutch and a body to fill her with ANY kind of feeling after she was forcibly ripped out of heaven by Willow. She pretty well manipulated his feelings for her all while abusing him for it. Spike's love for Buffy was real, but he was very immature and brash about it, as he was led more by passionate feeling, rather than thought. He did try to force her, yes, but when she stopped him and he saw what he had done, he left her to be brutalized by a demon until he got his desire: to have his soul back to be a better man for her. After that, he let himself be manipulated by The One while living close to the Hellmouth willingly in repentance for his actions. In the end, he allowed himself to be consumed by pure sunlight in a final act of heroism and repentance, but all the while still feeling so much guilt that he couldn't even bring himself to believe Buffy when she finally told him that she loved him back. The first, and only time she ever did (I'm not counting the comics as I never read them). Angel may have been her first real love, but Spike is her true love.
I always loved and hated this seen, it’s when spike said and what does that mean, and she asked him does it have to mean anything. If he had said yes things would have changed. They're both so afraid of it to mean something because they're both afraid to get hurt so they deflect their emotions and think about the fight smh this seen hurts
I know! Once you’ve been so much with a person in bad times, it’s hard to just make a 180 when times finally become good. It’s like PTSD is getting in the way. But thank god they end up together in e comics!
I love Spike. He loves Buffy unconditionally with or without his soul, unlike Angel. I’m so sad that Buffy doesn’t love Spike back, or at least not as much as he loves her. 2:34
2.06 onwards. It's too much. I keep coming back to this video and crying for spike. Every word he says is exactly how I felt. And my person has basically mocked everything 💔💔💔💔💔
Love spike and his development throughout the series. Angel and Buffys relationship was beautiful but it was a teen love relationship whilst I feel like Buffy and Spike had an adult relationship. Both beautiful in their own ways. My personal fave was Buffy with Spike.
Spike was a better person than Angel in life and a better person than Angel in death, Angel was cursed with a soul whereas Spiked cursed himself for his love.
They almost did but spike changed his mind he saw she was happy n didn’t wanna mess it up by her seeing him angel was there to they had a bet to see which one she would be happy to see n I say it was gonna be spike hands down
I hate one thing about this scene: Buffy demands Spike to open himself up, doesn't want mixed signals - but then refuses to say in turn what her feelings mean. Like ARGH! Come ON! Again she does this thing where she gets off the hook but makes Spike be the open one. Otherwise I naturally love this scene, but that ending killed me.
Doesn't stop there. -She made out with Angel later that night. -Refused to refer to him as her boyfriend But said that Spike is "in her heart" (for whatever that's worth-I don't think it' worth anything). -Then she tried to downplay the kiss when Spike called her out on it. Just disgusting Buffy behavior all the way around.
Would love to hear what she was about to say when he cut her off. "I don't know how you feel about last night, BUT I WILL NOT..." A world of possibilities.
I hate that they never really kissed in season 7. It didn't have to be much, but there were so many times when there could have been a small chaste kiss that would have better solidified their relationship for the audience.
That's not the problem. The problem is that she kissed Angel in the 2nd to last episode of the entire show, after the entire message of the show was supposed to be that Buffy and Spike were connecting emotionally.
She was not understanding how he felt for her. Hecwanted from her whstcshe couldn't hive him. He was romantically in love with her she did not seem on the same level he was. It was sad to watch.
Can anyone share who was the composer for the background music??? I even think they should of got some kind of award. Where are the composer's of this piece? Fantastic writing by Jane and Douglas ? Please please share the inspiration behind it!!!!!!!!!
Season 7 has, and will always be a bone of contention among fans, but it had it’s moments. And this was #1 with the fucking bullet. I was always devout in my belief Spike was not the right guy for Buffy, and by the end of Season 6 that was pretty well established. She could never love him, that’s it, end of story. Then in true Joss Whedon fashion he used Seaskn 7 to smash that certainty beyond any hope of repair.
This was a great scene, to be sure, but my number one moment of the season was the scene between Buffy and Spike in the church. I can pret' nigh recipe Spike's whole speech by heart. Apparently Whedon re-wrote that scene in the script himself, and it's just perfect.
@@jychilly That is a great scene as well. I actually missed the season 6 finale when it first aired, so I had no idea what was going on with Spike and then I found out at the same time as Buffy. I got there about ten seconds before she did, and I remember thinking "Hang on a second...is it possible?"
This, and the expression they share when she finally comes for him after The First had him tied up and tortured. Spike finally having confirmation that she would and did come for him. So many beautiful scenes in S7 if you just dig into it. They got so close that season. It was them against the world.
The way she looks at him in this scene. Proves how much she actually loves him. Nobody will ever convince me otherwise
She never loved him.Cared for him maybe. She never loved anybody but Angel.

Angels moment of pure happiness was sleeping with Buffy once. Spikes slept with her a bunch of times but his moment of pure happiness was holding her. Says something about him.
So insightful!
Idk...I think the argument has been made before that Angel's moment of true happiness wasn't necessarily sex with Buffy, but the post-sex holding her, being with her, much like Spike here. His soul didn't go away *right* after sex with Buffy, we see it after he's been lying next to her for quite some time (or at least implied quite some time due to the editing of that episode.)
I think Angel's loss of soul probably happened in a similar moment together with Buffy as with Spike.
@@raelindenberg
But you see, Buffy and Angel stayed together for a long time after he came back from the hell dimension
They hugged and kissed and trained ..etc
I think they did every romantic thing including sleeping next to each other but he never lost his soul
She was next to him, in love with him, touching him.. he even fed on her which should be very pleasurable and sensual but he never lost his soul
The only thing he refrained from ever foing to keep his soul intact was the sex
So this is a cute theory but I don't think it match the canon of the show
@@enasbassiony7676 I'd say it's a little more than a "cute" theory...it's a solid one based on the canonical editing of that episode.
Right? Not to even mention Angel slept with her on her 17th birthday...
Every time I rewatch Buffy, I can't wait for this scene. It completely shows their love in the most intimate way possible, where it's not about sex but it's just about them and what they bring to each other.
Exactly! This is my #1 fav ship

Spot on.
Dear God that head tilt does things to me.
It made me lose my mind.
OMG!!! THIS!!!!!
absolutely winded just watching it
The one thing Spike did that no other guy was able to do after Angel, was make her vulnerable again or seeing her vulnerable.
@@KeithEngel You are The Truth, sir.

Definitely!
Yes there’s a reason he’s the fan favorite! And to think he wasn’t originally meant to be a reoccurring character
He was supposed to die in S2 when the church or whatever it was all came crashing down. Instead they put him in the wheelchair and kept him alive. Because Joss saw how much people loved him. And then he basically became the show for both Buffy and Angel.
Love his scar, love his voice, love his eyes. Love Spike more than anything else.

I'm so in love with him
The music in this scene shows alot too.

Every comment section on every Buffy video has at least one like this... The beauty of Buffy!! I remember growing up on shows like this!!
this has got to be my TOP spuffy moment. it’s a glimpse of love between the two that hadn’t truly been seen for them yet at all, and it was mutual. the night that they had had meant a lot to the both of them, and it was a simplistic night. it’s the little things that count. the fact that this was the best night of spikes life means A LOT. god i love these two in season 7, sure they didn’t have any kisses in this season but they had a lot of loving, cherish-able moments together and by the end of the season buffy can finally admit to herself that apart of her loves spike.
Love your comment 💯
I think they made spike say that because Buffy wouldn't have left him
He didn't believe her
Honestly they both should've said it and either burned together or made it out together I agree they fucked up
No she didn’t. Woman came back from the dead. Part of her stayed dead. She was using Spike to feel alive. Spike got the feels and suddenly she wasn’t interested and he got friendzoned. The latter half is just like real life.
WERE YOU THERE WITH ME!!!!! I WAS!!!!!! those lines mean everything considering all that happened between them in season 6 when she wasn’t herself 🥺🥺🥺
Yes season 7 was a lot easier to watch than season 6 which was an endurance for me
I love how he backed off when he asked what it meant and buffy asked if it needed to mean anything. To just let that moment remain perfect for them was growth for him. He could have pushed her into giving him and answer and it would have pushed her away but he's learnt that isn't how he gets to have her.
Kills me that they couldn't be together here but this was the nicest interaction they had after being together and that was perfect.
Someone holding you while you sleep, means so much ❤️
Spuffy was the reason for the show.
This is one of my favorite scenes of the show, and Spike is only second to Buffy in being my favorite character.

spike loved buffy. entirely. his love was wholesome. holding her as she slept was his magical moment. the love between angel and buffy was like puppy love. that first innocent love. the love that spike and buffy had, was real. it was raw. at the end of this series, when buffy told spike she loved him, it was true. after everything they've been through, i believe she did love him entirely. i wish the writers would have made it so he believed her
I think when he said that he was harking back to the time she said that to him when he said he loved her. When Spike told Buffy he loved her she said no you dont, but it was more like a 'no, dont' cause she couldn't deal with it but they both knew it was true. So when he says it back to her it is also like saying 'no, dont', because she would be alone, but they both know it is true. It is him protecting her again, that she is not alone when he is gone.

how can a woman love a man who childishly pursued her as a vampire and then flipped the script when he got the soul. buffy couldnt love spike cuz he was too predictable while being evil. she literally juyst used him for sx. she likely didnt even truly enjoy it, it was driven by anguish not a pursuit for pleasure she tried really hard to like him after but he simped way too hard unlike Angel
I love their conversations
2.19 "it was the best night of my life
And knowing spike had lived vampire years!!!! Basically living dead....
It's too much💔💔💔💔💔💔
The music really delicately delivered.
@@91mercedez technically, they are in love in the comics and spent a year together, then mutually broke up in season 12, season 12 leaves the door open for them one day
@@deadpooldan9862 I mean thats the comic we are talking about the show
@@91mercedez 1) holy run on sentence, batman.
SO TRUE !
I always loved and hated this seen, it’s when spike said and what does that mean, and she asked him does it have to mean anything. If he had said yes things would have changed. She even said after meaning that she wanted it to mean something and he said no. Breaks my heart even watching it now. Beautiful scene stunning performance by smg and jm 🧡
Sexual intimacy can be nice and all... But I Stan emotional intimacy. Nothing beats it. ❤
Yes emotion is the best!
Emotional intimacy is enduring while sexual intimacy is often fleeting.
I love Spike. He loves Buffy unconditionally with or without his soul, unlike Angel. I’m so sad that Buffy doesn’t love Spike back, or at least not as much as he loves her. 2:34
She does love him
You should read the comics if you’re a Spuffy fan. She picks Spike over Angel.
One of my favorite scenes
2.06 onwards.
It's too much.
I keep coming back to this video and crying for spike.
Every word he says is exactly how I felt.
And my person has basically mocked everything
💔💔💔💔💔
Can I just say I didn’t get the joke about faith and the mixed signals until now 😂 lmao. I can’t believe I missed that
The look on his face 😍
Love spike and his development throughout the series.
Angel and Buffys relationship was beautiful but it was a teen love relationship whilst I feel like Buffy and Spike had an adult relationship. Both beautiful in their own ways. My personal fave was Buffy with Spike.
Were u there with me? I was 😭😭😭
James should of got some kind of award just for this scene alone
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love these two so much!
Me too! Spuffy forever!
Their scenes are the best thing in season seven.
I actually talked to James Marsters I was like DUDE Spuffy was the best ship and they were so sweet and kind
James Marsters didn't get the credit he deserved.
This scene be saving lives....daft as it may seem to some
Spike was a better person than Angel in life and a better person than Angel in death, Angel was cursed with a soul whereas Spiked cursed himself for his love.
I wish they would’ve seen each other in Angel
They almost did but spike changed his mind he saw she was happy n didn’t wanna mess it up by her seeing him angel was there to they had a bet to see which one she would be happy to see n I say it was gonna be spike hands down
this scene makes me cry too much
Oh and now I’m hysterically crying
As a man living in the United Kingdom, I can confirm 'Shirty' is a real word. It's another word for getting upset.
Or shitty. Haha
Spike’s theme hits 2:58
Nothing says David Bowies song of Heroes more than Buffy and Spike season #7.
Would love to hear what she was about to say when he cut her off. "I don't know how you feel about last night, BUT I WILL NOT..." A world of possibilities.
No I’m not crying...
2.30ish onwards n I'm a mess
The music intensifies it.
Fantastic acting by James he really really done well in this scene
LMFAOOO when he left, she started an argument to made him stay. Typical woman. 💀😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
2.34
Annnnnd back here imagining my true love telling me everything spike says and telling me it doesn't matter because hes here 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sexiest vampire EVER!!!!
Growing up with Buffy 100% provided me with great morals.
She was not understanding how he felt for her. Hecwanted from her whstcshe couldn't hive him. He was romantically in love with her she did not seem on the same level he was. It was sad to watch.
Anyone else see the correlation between the whole house breaking thing and “the best night of my life” and twilight 🤣
It was them against the world.
wait, are you a buffy/spike hater or not? didn't get it sorry
For me it's always been season 4, with whole military sub plot and Adam.
I felt it didn't fit with the whole magic and mystic setting.
