Classical Gurukul aims to contribute to the ever growing classical music scene of Bangladesh. Apart from regular online showcase of Class performers of the country, We have also organized our first concert. Posting the first performance of the evening, by Mustakim Abir.
Raga yaman, is perhaps one of the most celebrated ragas among practitioners and listeners of Hindusthani classical music. In most cases, this infamous evening raga is the first raga a classical music student learns. This sampoorna (use of 7 notes) raga might seem relatively easier to learn at first, however the freedom in this raga turns it into one of the most difficult to earn mastery on for the same characteristic. Yaman belongs to the kalyan thaat/group of ragas.
Mustakim Abir had fallen in love with the Bansuri from his early childhood. Tackling many difficulties, Abir had eventually found refuge under the wings of Mortuza Kabir Murad, the eminent bansuri player of Bangladesh. This training had continued for years. Later on, Abir moved on to Nishit Dey, eminent Imdadkhani Sitar player of Bangladesh, for further training which is still constant till date. Besides learning, Abir had stood first place in numerous inter university competitions across Bangladesh and also teaches his art form personally. Abir is also the face of the Bansuri tutorial channel, Bansuri Gurukul GOLN. \
