Rudra Veena is divine. Then comes SurBahar and finally the Sitaar. The sound from the Rudra Veena is a weeping tone- it cuts through the heart. The Gandhar touch first time is very soothing

Thanks for sharing this important sanskrit shlok, as I got mesmerised after hearing dattatray veena by Swami DR Parvatikar.Rudraveena really is a wonderful God's creation.
This is surreal best...Such divine feeling. And the cutest entry was of the cat at the end. Some last janm good karmas brought the cat into such a pure musical environment.
Sounds like the cat is trying to sing along or *meditate to* this music. This is the power of classical music. Even animals feel connected to it. PS. I'm too young and inexperienced to comment that it's beautifully played. But I'm listening to this music on repeat.

It's not a normal Veena. This instrument is called Rudra Veena. According to Puranas, Lord Shiva made this instrument. Playing this instrument is not an easy task. So many myths are associated with it. It is said that you might be cursed if you play it in a wrong way.
You definitely play.... But take action fast... don't waste time. That in remaining Life whatever God give You.. Be Today. Be happy by Your self Soul. ❤
Ragas aren't songs that they should have a limited duration.. U can play them as long as u want.. There are a few rules which u must follow while playing the respective ragas, there's no duration since there are no exact set of notes which imply that every performance will be the same with the same duration of time.. All this is theoretical myth, A Raga is nature's manufacture, emanated during vedic/ pre Vedic period... Based on natural Naada, there is nothing such as duration of a Raaga... Sorry , don't agree with your mythical presumption
Namaskar 🙏 you played rudra Veena so beautifully....it's my dream to learn how to play rudra Veena...can you please guide me that from where I can learn 🙏 Waiting for your kind reply Thanks and regards 🙏
Hi Piyal! I had attended one of your shows. That and this is like a time warp... it's like traveling back in time! Very beautiful. N very beautiful rendition! Is there any rendition of the kachchhapi veena?
pretty sure that was my cat. then when muted. my cat 'lotto' was meowing at me from the steps ididnt see any charming cat in the video. anyways.... them crazy cats
Firstly I have started learning Dagar tradition of Veena playing under the guidance of Pandit Asit Banerjee and Shri Piyal Bhattacharya. For further development I have started learning under Ustad Mohi Bahauddin Dagar. Ustad ji always guide me regarding all my quarries and practices till now. Recently for last three years I am working on ‘Senia’ tradition of Veena playing which is the oldest tradition of Rudra Veena playing technique, belongs to Tan Sen. For this now I am learning under the guidance of Ujjwalendu Chakraborty, he is the only Surbahar player who use to play the instrument by using three fingers (3 Mizrab) like Veena, and he is belongs to Dabir Khan’s (the last lineage of Tan Sen) lineage, his Guru Pt. Santosh Banerjee.
Is this the khandarbani style? Where can i learn to play it in this style? I have vocal training and a bit of sitar training..can i go for learning veena? Please redirect me to the right place
Sure. I have started my journey of learning with Dagar tradition. Firstly I learnt under the guidance of Pandit Asit Banerjee and Piyal Bhattacharya also. Then for further development I have started learning under Ustad Bahauddin Dagar. And till now he guides me, and gives the answer of my all quarries. Always, one quest is running inside my vains that is, the root of the Music and Tradition. So, after a long journey I found that the oldest tradition of Veena playing is Senia tradition. And the last lineage of this tradition was Ustad Dabir Khan. His disciple Pandit Santosh Banerjee. And now I am learning from Ujjalendu Chakraborty , the only disciple of Pt. Santosh Banerjee who use to play the Gharana in Surbahar by the using of 3 fingers of right hand,(3 mizrab). Now I am learning under his guidance.
@@sayakmitra10 That's brilliant 🔥 You're learning in both Dagarbani and Gauharbani, You'll definitely become a good Veena player, Yes I know about Ustad Dabir Khan Sahab, Pandit Santosh Banerjee and Ujjalendu Chatterjee, He is only disciple of Pandit ji who plays Surbahar in pure senia tradition, I've heard him on RUclips earlier. I'm also learning Sitar and my guruji's guruji learnt from Ustad Dabir Khan Sahab and Pandit Ravi Shankar also! Please upload more because pure Senia style been is lost, how can I get in touch with you?
I have played the 'Alap' and the 'Jod' part. Percussion usually come after the 'Jod' in 'Senia' tradition of Veena playing. I will upload also that part later. Thank you Mr. Enrique Martinez for listening me. Also great thanks Nishant ji, Kalyani Ji and Sharath Ji for the replies.
@@anujaa1016 I would like to say optimally beautifully because there is an element of rhythmicity added by the player's strokes. Yes, there is no Pakhavaj, and therefore there is no cyclical rhythm, but Laya is definitely there.

Veena- Sitar ( present day, not the one which came from Afghanistan/persia- with three strings) - Surbahar

Can't understand why percussion is absent.
What is to understand about it ,it is not a concert
It sounds better without percussion. Minimally beautiful
If you notice, he is strumming another set of strings with his little finger. That is considered the rhythmic accompaniment
