You can replace the spring simply by taking off the bottom access panel. No need to remove the entire dishwasher.

Same problem on my side…After a spring broke, I change the 2 cords & the spring…and the door opens past to horizontal…I ordered the same part than on the manual part list and I was surprised to discover that the cord was more longer on the news one than the old one…I didn’t know the reason why. I made a knot on the two cord and I add a little metal angle on each side with 2 screws to create bump stops to keep the door horizontal.

I am now replacing the door spring cord for the second time. Don't go cheap when replacing the cord. It won't last. By the way, MOST of the stuff in this video I did not do. Killed power. I could reach the hinge cable without moving it out from under the counter.

My door opens too far, past horizontal so the drawer falls out. Could the be from a weak spring? What holds the door level to the ground when open?

It’s either the spring or rope attached that needs to be repaired/replaced. I have the same problem.

@@timstoker7979 I just had the same problem and fixed it as follows. While the door is in a roughly horizontal position, I recommend looking at how the door hinge works, and seeing where the metal portion of the door hinge sits roughly vertically when the door is in a horizontal position. Here, I drilled some new screws to the left and right into the cabinets on each side of my dishwasher, such that the metal door hinge RESTS on these screws (as "stoppers") when the door is in my desired horizontal position. That way, the weight of the door is borne by the screws rather than by the cables or springs. That fixed the problem for me. Best wishes to you!

My door sat parallel to the floor until the door spring cord broke and it fell hard. After I replaced the spring cord it still opens further than it did when new. It in no way affects how the dishwasher works so I don't really care that it opens a little too far.
