    Now that I think of it, the AFC North is basically consisted of 3 off-shoots of the same team.
    - The Bengals were created because Paul Brown, the original founder of the Cleveland Browns, was controversially fired by Art Modell and wanted to recreate what he had in Cleveland (hence why the Bengals' uniforms were nearly identical to Cleveland's for the early years of their existence).
    - The Ravens are the original Browns that were controversially moved to Baltimore by, guess who? Art Modell.
    - The current Browns are the expansion franchise that maintained the history of the original Cleveland Browns (now Baltimore Ravens) as part of a lawsuit by the city of Cleveland.
    And because of realignment, the Steelers remain the only team in the division to have absolutely _nothing_ to do with this mess. The odd man out, if you will, and of course, historically, they're the best team in that division by far.

    • @MickeyKraut419
      @MickeyKraut419 4 года назад +10

      Only flaw to your argument is that in the last 15 or 20 years, the quality of character within the Steelers organization has gone downhill. Much as I loathe the Steelers, I used to be able to at least respect them as I was growing up. Now... Villanueva is about the only person in that organization I can respect.

    • @BZ0905
      @BZ0905 4 года назад +5

      Actually, The Steelers are the best in the superbowl era, but if you take into account the pre superbowl era, and the superbowl era up to 1990, the Browns are historically the best. In fact, if you count out every year since 1999, the Browns are the best team historically in the division. As the Browns had an absolute dynasty in the 50s and 60s, probably the most dominant team in history. On top of that, the Browns made the playoffs consistently with 3 AFC championship appearances in the 80s, and the last playoff appearances in 2002. The steelers have won 6 Superbowls, but the Browns made 6 straight NFL Championship appearances in the 50s. They won 4 straight AAFL Championships from 1946 (the year they were founded) to 1949, then won the NFL Championship in 1950 (their first year in the NFL). They won three more NFL Championships, winning their last one in 1964. That's 8 Championships in Team History (The Steelers never won a NFL Championship, or a AAFL Championship since they didnt play in the AAFL) and 10 straight appearances from 1946 to 1956. Consistent playoffs, 3 AFC Championship appearances in the 80s, and one last playoff appearance in 02'. Now they are pushing to be great again, and we have the potential for playoffs. One can only hope. The saddest part is that the Browns you see in this video won a Superbowl just a few years later as the Ravens, meaning those Browns had Superbowl potential, and had they not moved, we would be talking about the best statistic team in History.

    • @SmugTomato
      @SmugTomato 4 года назад +1

      @@BZ0905 The problem with that argument is that you basically have to ignore the last 20 years to make that case for the Browns. They had a better start to their franchise than Pittsburgh did (Pittsburgh was garbage up until the 1970s), but since their dynasty years in the 1970s, the Steelers have almost always been consistently better than the Browns. They have more Super Bowl appearances, AFC Championship appearances, playoff appearances and wins in general than the post-merger Browns, and have only maintained their success in spite of the league growing at a fairly rapid rate over the last 50 years. To argue that the Browns are historically better purely because of their success in the 50s and the fact that they have the potential to be a good team again now is disingenuous, to put it nicely.

    • @humbleheart7821
      @humbleheart7821 4 года назад

      I have question why you say the Ravens are the original Brown its sound interested ?🤔

    • @SmugTomato
      @SmugTomato 4 года назад +4

      @@humbleheart7821 It's a long story but basically in 1995 the original Browns were moved to Baltimore by then owner Art Modell, and changed their name to the Ravens. The current Browns that you're watching today are an expansion franchise that inherited the history of the old Cleveland Browns (now Baltimore Ravens) and joined the league in 1999.
      It's a rare case where a team that moves to a different city doesn't keep the team's former history (Like say, the Houston Oilers when they moved to Tennessee. The Texans did not inherit the history of the Oilers and were treated as a true expansion franchise). The city of Cleveland sued for the naming rights of the team and their history and won, so the Baltimore Ravens were treated as a brand new team, while the expansion Browns were treated as the Browns of old, even though it was the exact opposite for both sides.
      Hopefully that cleared things up a bit. :)

      True, but most of the FO personnel (and ownership, obviously) from Cleveland remained. Not to mention, the pick that was used to draft Ray Lewis in 1996 was acquired by the Browns in 1995. So when Baltimore won the Super Bowl in 2000, there was a lot of eerie familiarity with that team in the eyes of many Browns fans. As Doug Dieken said, most Browns fans would have rather seen the Steelers win another Super Bowl than that Baltimore team

This was the final Browns home game played at Cleveland Municipal Stadium. The pervious month then Browns Owner Art Modell announced following the conclusion of the 1995 season. Seeing the Browns players hugging the fans after the game, if that doesn't show how much the Browns meant to a city, I don't know what will. I even remember reading when the Steelers played the Browns on a Monday Night game that year at Three Rivers Stadium after the announcement was made that Art Modell was moving the team to Baltimore, the Steelers fans wore orange arm bands in support of their rivals. I think if I am correct the only two owners who voted against the move of the were Dan Rooney of the Steelers and Ralph Wilson of the Buffalo Bills.
    Just seeing the end of the players hugging the fans, is enough to make anyone emotional in what was lost when this happened.

    I wanted to see TNF but I couldn’t because my wisdom tooth that I had surgery, same day before the game started, was hurting me. But after seeing this game is very upsetting and disappointing for fans, coaches and historians. To me it’s very sad. But how does it make me sad? It makes me feel almost the same for the team except this is the past and I, myself is at another time that I didn't see.
    Look, TBH, if my team loses, I don’t want to bet. I support a team and a player or coach with heart and respect. I supported Joe Burrow on TNF because he’s a young but smart, talented and focused leader. Like Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Patrick Mahomes, or any player.
    But in the end, I’m giving these browns a chance as well.
    These Cleveland Browns are almost a successor to the original except they carry the name on and should with their recent but similar uniforms from their glory years before.
