I love your video, you come across as so genuine in helping others get their stores running well, I also feel you dont hide or keep stuff from the viewers. You are my favourite etsy youtuber to listen to
@@KaraBuntin Honestly, people are so jealous of others these days - they attack people for no reason. I am SO grateful for your truly HELPFUL advice!!! I’m glad you briefly touched on “Sales”. I would say 90% of Etsy sellers have no clue regarding “items on sale” laws. I see many Etsy shop have their items on “perpetual” sale. If you ever wondered why Etsy limits your sales period to a maximum of 30 days only, this is why. They are covering their behinds. But it’s still up to you to follow local consumer laws. Now granted. I have yet to hear about a shop that has been shut down because of violating a Sales Law. This is probably because Etsy doesn’t feel it’s that big a deal and it doesn’t present a big liability or lawsuit problem for them. If it did they would crack down on it.
Coming from being a top ebay seller, etsy is a minefield. I have one product that is 100% custom, and quote a price for each. The smart move would have been from day one to have the base price as a round figure and quote round figures, then sell in multiples thereof. I didn't, I chose to quote then make custom listings as I do on ebay. So it looks like this product never sold, despite it being our most popular upto Jan this year. Still getting views but I can't help wondering if the '0' sales figure is now an obstacle.
It very well could be, but Etsy isn't eBay as far as customers go. It's interesting, I have people in my groups who sell on both places and they sell a lot of things in one place but nothing of the same thing in the other.
Hello Kara, I know I saw one of your videos about editing changes to your shop. This is what I do: click on listing, go to edit make changes then publish. Is this not good for the algorithm doing out this way? Love your videos and keep up the great work for us 💕
That's fine, unless you want to make a copy so that the original doesn't have any changes. The risk you run when you change an original is that you might make it worse!
I list things as they're ready, doing things every day just means that it will take Etsy longer to start looking at the listing, and people can't buy it if it's not listed!
❤️ the video!! Would you say that there’s an unspoken rule when it comes to new shops or listings that you have to run adds for 30 days like Etsy “recommends” to see growth and consistent sales?
Not at all. Like I said in the video, it's time vs money, so if you want to spend your time to send traffic you can totally start making sales without ever using ads at all.
Love this video, just like your classes, I looked in my stats on Etsy, they have no stats under search for 10 days, do it tweek the listing or leave it alone?
I make copies to make new listings so I don’t have start from scratch. I didn’t think we were allowed to do an exact copy unless it was in a different color but not exactly the same.
@@KaraBuntin So if I had let’s say 100 items in stock could a I just keep duplicating the same listing for example 100 times wit a quantity of one? That way I could show up more in search just based on numbers. It just seems like this is a way to manipulate the search results.
I do this with all of my new listings, i use different titles, tags, categories (that applies) and i use a different first image... Ive had really good success and this helps me quickly to analyze my data :D x
@@LilyandLushDesigns Thank you Leanne. I really appreciate your response. I think this will really help me. I have 4500 sales since 2016 but in May I changed to a different product so I’m starting over and SEO is now so different since 2016.
They're using descriptions for SEO, so it does factor into it. How much, nobody knows. We have to assume that it's used for SEO but if you're writing a good description it should be fine with no extra effort on your part.
What do you say about keywords like Hoodie and Sweatshirt? People who are selling hoodies list have Sweatshirt and vise versa on the title and tags, even in the top results. Should I do this too?
@@KaraBuntin 1 last question. Has etsy outsourced there call center to people in the middle east? I spoke to someone who had a middle eastern accent, it was a very disconnected conversation. I asked for a supervisor. I got a call back from again someone who had a middle eastern accent that was a supervisor. That was weird.
I have had a handful of bestselling listings going dead and almost in all cases, I find copycats on Etsy & Amazon stealing my designs, images & undercut my price. Is there anything I can do without going into a price war?
If they're actually using your photos you can file a copyright strike against them to have it removed. If they're copying your designs there's not as much that you can do unless you want to file a copyright strike against them for that, but that's harder to prove if they decide to counterclaim you on it.
Go to the listing manager and click on the gar icon, then choose copy. It will duplicate the listing and you can use that as a new listing to edit without changing the original one.
Also look because most likely someone has copied your listing this is the case for one of mine of course theirs nothing you can do about it which really stinks some people just can’t come up with their own ideas and have no morals!!

Ha! You said you had listings with just a couple photos and the rest are infographics - Brilliant!
Some things just are not 10 photos worthy!
Well, I mean, how many ways can you photograph a silicone mold?
Good points. I'll be figuring out what I can add to my materials list to help with purchasing.
Etsy loves hiding those descriptions

It's not Etsy that would crack down on it, either, it would be the government, so you don't want to deal with that.
This video is packed with fantastic information! Looks like I'll be diving into your other videos now

Kara, thank you! I love the idea of infographics, too. I will make some to add to my listing photos. xo

Thank you Kara for this video. I learned a lot.
I was wondering about how often should i list? Is it better to list everyday or in bulk?
I list things as they're ready, doing things every day just means that it will take Etsy longer to start looking at the listing, and people can't buy it if it's not listed!

About half of my photos are information that is in the description…I have a template I use so that all the listings have a consistent feel.
Great tip!

If the keywords are accurate, I would try to send some direct traffic to it to see if it will pick up.
I make copies to make new listings so I don’t have start from scratch. I didn’t think we were allowed to do an exact copy unless it was in a different color but not exactly the same.
As long as you can sell both items if people buy both at the same time you can.

My products are not showing up on Etsy which are connected through Printify. I don't know what to do
I would go to Printify and look at their help sections or contact their support.

If it doesn't have a hood, don't use hoodie. But hoodies are usually sweatshirts, I think, so that would be fine.

Too bad Etsy hides some of the listings they are taking money to show to buyers, imo.
They take money to rent you space, but these days there’s no guarantee that anything will be seen.
