I played Maple for the first time when it became free in 2007, I was in 6th grade. Time really flies, I legit played this game everyday until like 2011-2012 and came back for like a month in 2015. Even had my cousins and my little sister playing, really nostalgic. From private servers to the hours I spent grinding on regular MS, i can never forget or replace those memories.
Honestly - just look at the diversity of each class. It's so evident which class you are playing and their obvious advantages/disadvantages. Look at how each class works together to play the game and now it just feels way too over crowded with classes released every 2 months and they all just do some sort of large map-scale attack that does 10 lines per monster. It doesn't feel unique at all anymore.. I still love MS and I agree with moving forward, but I WISH they would've just done what WoW and Runescape did and just released a modern "old version" of the game and a current version for the newer generation. Heck, I'd pay monthly sub if it was necessary - this game brought so much joy to my life and still does aha
I know I might get hate for saying this but the diversity of each class gets A LOT more clearer from midgame to endgame, especially in hard bossing parties. You can see a lot of differences in mobility, HP tanking, iframing, damage bursting, support buffs, and overall survivability. While every class can certainly cover the entire map with all their skills, every class's bossing style is incredibly different. Some low DPM classes have high survivability and visa-versa. Even now, a lot of Hard Bossing Parties are prioritizing low-leveled support classes like Bishop and Kanna, over high-leveled attacker classes like Hero and Demon Slayer. Heck, plenty of Heros and Dark Knights decided to switch to Paladin because they can survive longer in Hard Bosses. To summarize, yes, what class you play, still matters a lot.
@@kaedesenshi2786 I think he's just trying to say the diversity wasn't as drastic as before. Like yeah it matters more toward endgame, but every class feels very similar, whereas before there were more distinctions with each class. Now everything basically feels like a reskin compared to before.
Yep, seems like every class now is just flash jump around spamming your map-wide attacks, filling the screen with columns of 40 digit numbers in ugly fonts and anime cut-ins
I feel you dude. Like, what's the point in the game if everyone is the same, and can get to level 200 like nothing? OG Maplestory was a tough grind sure, but it felt like a life journey. When Soul Driver used to hit 8 monsters 4 times and Sharkwave went all the way across the screen and beyond if you had Sparks buffed on, Cygnus Knights were so flashy it was worth the lvl 120 cap for me! (Took me a whole year to get there anyway...) 😅

the thing is, many skills had different uses for them back then, because it was more about tactics then just do damage. think about it, if you have a very limited amount of damage that you can possibly deal, you need to rely on other stuff rather than just damage alone, which isn't the case anymore. I remember the 3rd job mage skill "seal" was HUGE in my opinion, because in 3rd job you actually start to encounter monsters that deal magic attacks rather than physical attacks, and rendering their magic attacks useless and then going to town on them with stuff like thunderspear or ice strike, depends on their resistances. also, not all classes trained in the same places back then, since some classes had different strengths and weaknesses that allowed them to train in certain places. ice lightning mages had ice strike, so training against monsters that can be freezed was the way to go. dragon knights were super beefy so they could go against monsters that deal a lot of damage. hermits were squishy but dealt tons of damage, so they could kill a lot of monsters but had to train where its safe. now its just the more damage you do the more you can progress in the game.

I have a challenge for you, this does not apply to rogues though, for obvious reasons. It's an equipment limitation. you may only wear the first set of equipment & weapon for your class. which means 10 gear. (I'll make an exception for those lv 11 shoes with the tiny speed boost, and the first class specific shields, rather than wooden fence or pan lid) For equipment that you do not get at lv 10, you can have the first cape you get in orbis from a quest, the one that's a tattered rag, I forgot the name of it. No rings. For the belt, you may wear either the white belt from the dojo if that still exists, or the lowest level belt that can be crafted. The only equipment that goes on your face that is acceptable is the glasses from ludi if they still exists. No face paints, no masks, none of it. For earrings, you may only wear the amethyst earrings. No necklaces. you may only wear medals when they are required for quests (like xerxes, if that still exists) (and even then, only while in the required area. Same restriction for weapons. the lv 10 version, or first available after lv 8, of that weapon type (I don't know if staffs/wands are still staggered at 8/10, and I don't know the levels of variant class specific weapons like dual-blade, and I do not mean beginner weapons you start with, or drop only equips. I mean the first weapon you typically get when you get your first job and grab your starter gear. lowest level sword/mace/axe/spear/pole-axe etc) For the sake of jobs with unique equipment slots, such as mechanic and wild hunter, use the lowest level equipment possible, as long as it is available at lv 10. If it cannot be equipped at lv 10, it cannot be equipped. That's it. That's the requirement. The reason rogues are exempt from the challenge is because assassin builds basically did this already, and everyone ran around in sauna robes. this is like that but NO SAUNA ROBES. I like the look of the low level equipment, especially for archers for some reason. Ideally, you should get somewhere like leafre and everyone will say "wtf, why is there a lv 10 here---oh I see what's going on.... y tho?". That's the point of this challenge. How far can you get like this? I suppose I should also put a restriction on enchantments as well, like maybe nothing with higher stats than 60%'s. makes it harder, but at least cheaper.
I haven't play Maplestory ever since the Big Bang update, and I had no idea that they removed one of the classic skills "Magic Claw" for mage. Maplestory hasn't been the same ever since the Big Bang update, and all the OG players basically all left after that. It's just not the same anymore. Nexon ruined such a great game.
Broooo i‘m so in tears watching this Video 😢😢😢 remember back then where you could only do Ludi pq if you have an autoclicker because there were too many waiting to get in 😂
Lol I'm gonna be honest, I thought Snail Shells still cost snail shells until you said it doesn't. I've been on an off over the years so I never realized they changed that.
I remember restarting so many times my characters because i messed up either with AP or with SP , such a pain int he ass back then xD . I remember that time i managed to reach lv 100 as an hermit, go train at newts, finally, and then see im extremelly weak because i had way too much dex, oh boy restarting that was painful xD
I remember most of these things, but honestly it was everything so slow compared to nowdays xD. It had a lack of movement and speed, sure one thing i miss its the interaction with more ppl, like asking PQ for carnival from 30 to 50, or the ariant PQ for the chair where you had to capture scorpions, etc aaaand that intrroduction at the beggining of the game with the classes abilities and the green apple suit hahahahaha
Mihile third or forth job shot a laser for its mobbing skill back then and it didnt makes any sense to me lol. I just remembered they had a revamp recently so can't wait to finally make one.
Ultimate Adventurer Reincarnate a level 120 cygnus knight into a explorer that starts off at level 50 with the cygnus knight skill related to the class. I chose it for paladin because their mobbing was lacking all the way from Page (lv30) to Paladin (Lv120), relying on slash blast all the way to 4th job. Not many people would grind to become UA because it usually wasn't worth it and getting those peridots was a 0.01% drop chance. Having mihile's soul driver however made mobbing and playing the class a lot more fun and doable, caused a lot of confusion when people saw me mobbing in MP3 when they thought I was Dawn Warrior. It also had a pretty high KS priority so it was pretty nice against KSers whom thought they got the last kill, but then they see the animation of the swords driving into the enemy for the killing blow regardless of hp.
Just wanna point out that you can still cast the little dawn warrior spirit as well as the yellow swords coming down from the sky skill as an ultimate adventurer, I main a ultimate adventurer Dark Knight and those skills are still available. Funny enough, I still cast the little yellow spirit every time I enter a boss
I remember training a thief just to use Avenger but just then Big Bang(i don't remember if it was BB) came and reworked Explorers skills and I became depressed
NW have a "Avenger look alike" that explodes after traveling a little, multi hit and all. . .a little bit slower but still its something good for mobbing (Better than trying to mob as a fking NL)
Back in classic when there was only 3rd job advancement I'd only ever gotten to lvl 58 before making a new character just to experience kpq and lpq again, lol. Meanwhile my brother had 3 characters with 3rd job from hacking. I remember the day my brother got caught hacking at pap by a GM that whispered something like "We see you hacking, Stop now or be punished". That was a very nice GM because the first day I tested the cheats my brother used I got instantly banned LOL, No GM whisper or anything, Straight up hit with the ban hammer.
I can summon a fire elemental with my bishop cuz he's an Ultimate explorer, i can also use another blaze wizard skill that summons these flame cogwheels, pretty crazy XD.
Well maple has several eras and it's basically different game after 2 bigger updates. BBB is in the class of it's own (especially pre pot), then Big bang-unlimited(50m dmg cap upgrade) was close to it but just bit easier on some aspects. unlimited-V was quite much different since everything became so much easier and game started to focus more on it's p2w side. V basically changed everything again and probably next bigger revamp will change it quite a lot. Would be quite nice to have official classic server (BBB) and see how top players atm would struggle in there.
No, the old school dragon knight can max out both weapon's mastery (the polearm and the spear). It was known as the hybrid build. It boosts your training speed in 3rd job by a lot if you do that! You can also do the same if you are a page/swordsman, but there is no point of doing it. The dragon knights should have done that because their skills in 3rd job have hidden multipliers! The dragon fury only hit better damage with a polearm, but the buster only hit good numbers with a spear. In the long run, there isn't much difference, since no one uses dragon fury much after level 80. The oak barrel skill was extremely useful. It's not a skill for goofing around XD. how the old school players defeat the Horntail was to use buccaneers as a seduced target since they had the barrel. So the boss is only focusing on that bucc play but not gonna cast any attack.
Nice video. You didn’t cover the coolest OGs skills though. - The OG blue Night Lord flash jump - The bandit’s savage blow attack with Japanese characters - The bandit shadow that would wink before detonating mesos into an explosion - The Ice/Light lightning bolt they would throw like Zeus

This is a MapleStory love letter :')
*describes nightwalker's poison bomb changing channel strats*
Me, who was a fire/poison main back then: "Hey, I've seen this one!"
I have been a main DK since for ever, I remmber the pain of leveling spear crusher with the animation thingy.
some things are better this way hahaha
Wow... Is it bad I never noticed that magic claw was gone? And I've ALWAYS played as a magician lmao
More of those! i really enjoy those videos. good old maple !
Omg I messed up my first mage too and maxed magic armour instead of guard. It was so hard to try to recover from that.
At least you didn't make a Str Luk mage leaving Int out like I did starting out lol
I remember that time i managed to reach lv 100 as an hermit, go train at newts, finally, and then see im extremelly weak because i had way too much dex, oh boy restarting that was painful xD
twisted jesters clip got me, woww
I really miss playing maple Story what a great time I had.
I liked the parties to lvl up. But god dammit i dont miss the absurd lack os mobility
I still have my Succesor Thunder Breaker which still gets the cygnus Spirit summon and Throwable sharks.
Ultimate Adventurer
Reincarnate a level 120 cygnus knight into a explorer that starts off at level 50 with the cygnus knight skill related to the class.
I remember getting a ultimate adventurer Corsair and throwing sharks with it
Just wanna point out that you can still cast the little dawn warrior spirit as well as the yellow swords coming down from the sky skill as an ultimate adventurer, I main a ultimate adventurer Dark Knight and those skills are still available. Funny enough, I still cast the little yellow spirit every time I enter a boss
mais tu ne peux plus faire de ultimate adventurer
I remember training a thief just to use Avenger but just then Big Bang(i don't remember if it was BB) came and reworked Explorers skills and I became depressed
NW have a "Avenger look alike" that explodes after traveling a little, multi hit and all. . .a little bit slower but still its something good for mobbing (Better than trying to mob as a fking NL)
old dark knight skills were really nice ☺️
coopersan you are the best, your video are so awesome. For me you are the best maple RUclipsr and you deserve way more succes
That Fighter was perfect hp washed and all statted in hp. Oh the good old days.
Forgotten Skills? those skills were still in the game yesterday wasnt it?!
It only feels like yesterday maple was like this.
Seeing that % go up by 0.08% after killing like 5 mobs gives me massive PSTD xD
Endless farming of zombies, mother of god.
5:24 it is still useful if you are making soul weapon for mules.
Back when damage lines made sense. Nowadays, an assaulter skill (1 slash) would have 7 lines or somethin'
I still have legendary spirit on all my old characters. My aran was using the skill more. ☺
I miss the bomb throwing skill from Gunslingers. I was the only one who maxed it, everyone said it was useless.
Omg I forgot about NW's poison bomb 😂 I think I tried bombing+cc once, but doesnt work on popular maps unfortunately 😂
Remember when you had to talk to tru in order to get polearm booster? Otherwise forget that second job
I miss old maple, but im glad i was able to play pre big bang
I remember putting just 1 sp to energy bolt and maxing magic claw and now there’s not even a magic claw :(
the evan bossing skill was called Illusion :)
Magic claw...man mages have changed for sure.
i do believe legendary spirit also increased your success chance with scrolls by 5% or 10% i think... i dont remember exactly.
I just noticed I have legendary spirit in my beginner skills o.o I wondered what it did because I'm not a veteran player lol
i want the Tristan haircut back so bad (the long male hair)... i had it ony first acc in maplestory but i can't seem to find it again. RIP nostalgia
How tough am I : I played a Warrior class up until Hero 😭😭
You deserve a cookie. Here take mine. ☺
@@velfcookie4734 🤣🤣thanks
this was way harder to grind, WB to all mapler from 2018 to 2020
I can’t tell if he’s saying slash bash or blast lol
Also saders were stuck with power strike till 4th job too
Surprised I didn't see Bamboo Hat either, was the meta lol.
Avenger thankfully lives on in Shurrikane
Nice video.
You didn’t cover the coolest OGs skills though.
- The OG blue Night Lord flash jump
- The bandit’s savage blow attack with Japanese characters
- The bandit shadow that would wink before detonating mesos into an explosion
- The Ice/Light lightning bolt they would throw like Zeus
Wow such nostalgic footage
The warrior skill was called Slash Blast, not Slash Bash :P
great video! ty for the nostalgic :)
It hurt watching final attack being used
back down nostalgia lane
Omg they removed magic claw?! I only play on old school servers and these videos sometimes shock me so much 😂😱💕
I still have 2 UA classes that can summon the Cygnus Knight summons.
