Apartheid is not limited to Israel. All muslims countries does Apartheid to minority community. World over. Pakistan. Egypt. Bangladesh. Almost all Arab countries.
The delimma is the wire media has selective approach. Cut the WIRE .
Secondly there no Qualified scholars. Propessor. PhD holders among Muslims. They absoluty don't have logic mind. Perhaps the speaks the point of discussion that suits the Religion.ummat.
      Karan a fantastic morosoph.

First of all thank you karan for bringing the right people on the show. It was really wonderful to have Dr. Dalal Iriquat and hearing her on the show bringing out the clarity of the Palestinian rights- basic human rights for them and the creation of a Palestine state. Unfortunately, the Israelis have forgotten the atrocities which they met through Nazis and they themselves are behaving like Nazis to the Palestininans!!!! We hope that Palestinians may receive the justice for themselves at the earliest. We pray God to deliever the justice to Palestinians.
Thank you Dr.Iriquat, WE ARE WITH YOU & GOD also hears you.

Mark Twain who visited in 1881 among many other writers, travelers etc, have documented that Jerusalem/Israel looks like an expanded forsaken wasteland. After British divided the land, the Israelites made it into a booming economy, now the Arabs want it back! There was no Palestine state ever before…only Arabs living in the area.

Can I as a Hindu with ancestral connections to Bangladesh claim a right of return to that country from India? Or for that matter, a Sikh from the Punjab claim such a right to Pakistan? Why does this special resolution not apply to South Asia and why are Palestinian refugees so special? I am not in support of everything that the state of Israel does, but that country was founded as a "Jewish democracy" under extreme conditions, and it makes sense to me that they would want to preserve the Jewish character of the state.

Palestinians who embraced Israeli citizenship realized that they would be second class citizens in Israel but proceeded regardless. Religious discrimination dates back centuries! Hindus were severely discriminated under Mughal rule; their temples plundered/destroyed/desecrated and Mosques were built with proceeds on the ruins. Indian civilization, ancient knowledge, sculptures, universities and culture were ruthlessly destroyed in Islamic invasions. Christians/Hindus/Buddhists are second class citizens in Islamic nations in the present!. The Native Americans were exterminated by the European settlers and then marginalized for long. In short, this exists everywhere in the world and is not disappearing. There are a reasons why Indian freedom fighters fought hard for independence. A two state solution is desperately needed.

For a professor specialising in diplomacy and the Arab-Israeli conflict, Prof Iriqat has a surprisingly selective memory for historical facts. When she says that in 1994 the Palestinians generously accepted a smaller share of land than in the original UK resolution, she forgets to mention that it was the Arabs that rejected that original resolution, while the Israeli founding fathers accepted it. Instead, when the Palestinians were *for the first time in history* offered to build their own state, they immediately went to war against their proposed neighbour, with the expressed goal of erasing Israel from the map and grab 100% of the land rather than the allotted 45%. It just so happens that they lost that war, but we would be having a very different conversation now than complaining about "2nd class citizens" if they had won it. I do not support the treatment of Iraeli Arabs as 2nd class citizens, but it is not surprising that the state is weary of a minority that tried to destroy that state from within.
Prof Iriqat then goes on to complain that the Palestinians did not get anything for their generous concession. What she forgets to mention is that it was Arafat himself who rejected a concrete proposal that would have given the Palestinians 90% of the West Bank and the entire Gaza strip.
At this point almost nobody in Israel believes that the Palestinian leaders want a state (certainly it is not what Hamas wants; it would lose the support of its most important backer the minute they would stop engaging in violence). The Palestinian people are a different matter, but unfortunately they are completely let down by poor leadership that does not have their well-being at heart (what kind of a monster uses their own civilians as live shields?).
I am also surprised at Mr Thapar. He usually prides himself on asking incisive questions, but either he does not know the history of Israel well himself, or he decided that on this occasion he would prefer propaganda instead of balanced reporting and irrefutable historical facts.

If the world could not deliver on a two state solution to go back to the 1967 borders, the world would never be able to guarantee a one state solution (Jewish?) with equal rights to everyone irrespective of religion.
If Israel had dealt with its current Palestinian population with dignity and honor, there would already be one vibrant state and thriving. As Dr. Dalal described life for Palestinians in Israel as much less than honorable and equal, with even Israeli Supreme Court proving its justice neither to be blind or balanced, she and her kin must be absolutly desperate to even accept a one state solution, essentially handling over all of the Palestine to Israel, with no right of return to Palestinians settled overseas. It is wishful thinking even on the part of Mr. Gideon Levy.
With its behavior, Israel will, as would PA's sterile existence, perpetuate militant organizations like Hamas. And with Israel dealing with its Palestinian neighbors the way it does, Thapar Sahib, you can be rest assured that Hamas enjoys a huge popularity among Palestinians all over, because it appears, unlike Mahmood Abbas's PA, that Hamas is not sterile and toothless. Not a good sign.
In essence unless Israel changes its behavior, nothing else will change. And while at it, Congress Party if India is also heading the way of Labor party of Israel. 😮

I felt deeply saddened hearing from Prof. Dalai Iriqat in what condition Palestinians who live in Gaza and West Bank live under apartheid state of Israel. Contrary to her withnessing of Palestinian suffering the Interview with the ex Israely politician a couple days ago that was rigid, not passionate and utterlly injust and arrogant made me be enough informed about opression of indigenous Palestinians in Gaza and West Bank. Also the interviw with Gurion Levy - Haaretz columnist prooved me that Israel is occupier state since 1967 even decades before that.

Extremely shameful and blatant violation of the basic human rights of Palastinians in their own land by the Israeli junta.
And the Israelis who still cry and try to seek sympathy on the atrocities inflicted on them by the Hitler's Germany.
Absolutely inhumane, shameful and unpardonable - acts of Israel.

Thanks for bringing this very intelligent and articulate professor to your forum. She makes some very strong allegations and assertions. It would only make sense to present a counterview by inviting a Jewish representative who can defend the actions of Israeli State in a dispassionate manner. You cannot have Gideon Levys of the world who are ideologically aligned with Dr. Iriqat. The story of this conflict is quite a bit nuanced. It was Arafat who walked out of the final deal that would have given a two state solution. The fact is that there are extremist positions on both sides. The Right wing Jews want to claim the entire biblical land of Judea and Samara (as per their Bible) as Jewish land with no rights to anyone else. Likewise, the organizations such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad will not have a Jewish State in the middle East, PERIOD. Not on one inch of land. They may live there, but only as Dhimmis. After all, the prophet of Islam has clearly stated that there can be no peace with the Jews. With this kind of ideological divide, how can there be peace. To put all the onus on Israel is not right. Presenting Palestinians as the ONLY victims in this conflict is not right.....

Interesting that Gaza is blockaded only by Israel.
You say that no-one can enter or leave Gaza:
You forgot to mention that those Palestinians, for instance, that want to go overseas can go through the Rafah Egyptian border post.
You forgot to mention that thousands of Gazans enter Israel every day to work and bring back money to their families.
You forgot to mention that hundreds of trucks a week enter Gaza from Israel with produce and medical supplies.
You forgot to mention that thousands of Gazans (and from the West Bank) enter Israel each week to obtain treatment in Israeli hospitals. Israeli volunteers meet them at the border to drive them to hospital and back. One of the hostages kidnapped to Gaza by the genocidal murderous Hamas, was such a volunteer.
