I really appreciate your video. I was going from Arizona to Wisconsin when my check engine light came on and started the countdown to limp mode. I was able to quickly scan the code and do some google searches when this video came up. I watched it and it was the exact issue I had. I coasted into a ram dealership that had some parts. I fixed it right their parking lot on a Saturday for $350. The dealer was out there instantly trying to sell me a new truck. Thanks for the good video
I watched a video from a guy who got the limp code warning; his dealer wanted $3K for pump, injector, labor. He declined, pulled the injector, which was coated with what looked like uric acid crystals, cleaned it and job done for no actual cost.
I appreciate anyone willing to get in front of the camera to explain their issues - so thank you. My Ram just started this two days ago on the way to the airport. I did the mental calculation that I could make my flight and get home. Got home with 15 miles to spare. Now I'm looking for home remedies. Thanks again for the video.
Emission’s has killed so many potentially good vehicles. Most every issue on newer diesels seems to be emission related and not the actual engine components. I hate you had so much trouble and expense, but it’s good to try and help others with what you’ve learned.
@@PetersonFarmsofNashvillePFON I got a p1c54 code from my ram and went to the dealership for them to run the code and there was a man there with a eco diesel 1500 With a catalytic converters stopped up and dealership wanted 4200$ for repair
Love to all.. I just like to share what I did with my ..: keep you money on your pocket::: sounds crazy but check your wind shield fluid… that sensor it is connected somehow with the sensor of the DEF sensor on the tank my did it I was fixing to spend like 1200 on a new DEF pump.. just check on that.::
I think it’s time that the EPA and manufacturers start paying for repairs and down time. How can a system that freezes at -12C be approved for use in NA. My truck has been down 3 times because of the DEF system. One frozen tank that poorly designed heater wouldn’t thaw, one def heater failure and most recently the Def pump. Truck sat for 6 weeks while waiting for the heater. Can’t believe there hasn’t been a recall or permanent warranty slapped on the these poorly designed systems. I would love to have one of the design engineers sit on the side of the road at -36C with the system froze solid.
I agree with ya Government Juice (DEF) is such a scam and I would have had my truck Tuned off of it if I could have found someone to do it ! Thanks for watching and good luck with yours
Hi Phil. Could you please explain the resistor procedure to me, my truck went into limp mode and I would like to verify if I'm on the same boat that you were with this repair. I've never attempted this type of procedure, so I would greatly appreciate the play-by-play. Also, I've read that some people had to resort to using a 3 ohm resistor because the 2.2 wouldn't work, any thoughts? I greatly appreciate any help.
I would think 3 ohm would be fine just to confirm it’s a break in the wire going from pump to injector A simple lite meter would show that as well With the resistor in place you would be able to start vehicle out of limp mode but your def line would freeze up in the winter and you will have a lot of other codes I would buy the injector line 1st and replace Simple and far the least expensive repair Good luck
@@PetersonFarmsofNashvillePFON Thank you for the clarification. Well I live in South Texas, so thankfully I don't have to worry about def freezing. I feel like the resistor method is going to provide me both with the additional troubleshooting that I need and also the ability to get my truck moving in the meantime, while I get everything squared away. I really appreciate your insight.
@@PetersonFarmsofNashvillePFON Sorry, a couple of last questions, could you please send me some links of the items you used to make the resistor bypass? Or at least what they are called so that I can search for them? (Resistor, wiring, the pins you used to insert into the connector, etc). Do I have to solder, or will electrical tape or glue suffice? Thank you in advance
Well if this is a recurring problem, I have it to ya you can fix it , but it's going to happen again, frankly. I should not have to do anything, this should not happen and I should not pay for it dodge, we need to get together and sued dodge... this is bulshit
If someone sees this it is easy to diagnose. Just ohm out the line heater with your VOM meter. If it shows open, replace the wiring harness/ DEF supply fromt he pump to the DEF injector. The heater element went bad.
My truck is actually doing the same thing as yours is right now. I know you used a 100watt resistor but do you know how many ohm’s the resistor is that needs to be used? Thanks
I hate DEF systems so much. I traded in my last truck just past 100k miles because of def system issues and now this newer truck has had def issues 3 or 4 times this year, not even 80k miles. Trash.

Mine also now 😁👍

You said you bought the harness and tube/heater at the dealership. What is it called?
Diesel exhaust fluid supply hose
Goes from pump to def injector

What size resistor? I know 100w. What ohms????
2.2ohms
Your injector is going to clog up too.
