    A landscaper planted a magnolia tree too close to our house 50 years ago. We had it cut down and turned it into a gorgeous 12-foot-long dinner table. We don't have a sawmill, but we understand the joy of lumber from the property. Thumbs up.

    Brock, check your sawmill, it looks like in the video that the operators side far end is not touching and “rocks” when you are at the end of the cut. Love the videos.

    Your right Brock 😊 I had 3 20"x12' alder logs and 10 16" to 20" maple 12' + my daughter cleaning up after shipping 4 log loads of alder to the mill for frames in 🛋 couches used the alder for stickers for the maple, 3 years later got to milling the maple and got to the alder the whole time considering it as firewood 2" of one side was punky decided to throw it on the mill oh my goodness gorgeous stabbed it up at 2" and some 1" shelves strikingly gorgeous the spalting just beautiful ❤ Rockin Roll Brock thanks for sharing

    If you look at around the 8:30 mark you can see as your power head moves down the trailer, the trailer starts flexing... not getting straight boards. Hope that helps.

      I know that makes sense, but it’s not the actual result I got
      The last board off of that can’t was a half an inch at both ends. I got consistent thickness out of all of it.

    • @peterkoster5053
      @peterkoster5053 16 дней назад

      @RockhillfarmYT it may be an inch because it would have done it to every board so every board would have a twist to it if that makes sense?

    Nice looking lumber 😊 Land stewardship is important. Managing your trees makes your woods healthier, improves wildlife, provides lumber and firewood, decreases wildfire and flooding.

    Good morning, the sawmill leg closest to viewing, third from the far end, is moving down every time the mill head passes over it. That will eventually affect your boards?

    Good video! For me, it’s never about production or money. It’s about having something enjoyable to work at and like you mentioned to be a good steward of my resources.

    Hey Brock, I’m not sure what you do with the slabs from your walnut? if you have nice beefy chunks, you could sell those to Wood Turner’s or give those to people that do woodworking. I’m not sure if that’s what you would be interested in doing, but there’s a lot of people that would love to have those. I used to run a sawmill myself and always kept the walnut slabs that were beefy to turn a bowl or something like that out of. just something for you to think about. Great video.!👍🏻

    I cut almost everything to live edge. It sells better, and i use it a lot. And then if i need dimensional i can always resaw it to dimensional on the mill.

    I should probably buy a sawmill. I always thought they where 15-20k for one

    I’d mill that into 8/4 live edge slabs and put them on marketplace. I get calls for that all the time.
    In your Timelapse video your mill is moving a lot. Might want to look at adjusting your legs.
    Have a good one.

    That made some nice pieces. Also, did you relevel the mill it was moving up and down on the hitch side.

    Looking at your mill not being level on the end towards the camera. It flexes about 2 or more inches when your saw gets towards the end. Does that effect your lumber dimensions?? Does it put a twist in the board? Seems like it will mess something up .

    I'd be hard pressed to find a log to saw, we don't have anything but mesquite bushes around here!

    I want a saw mill real bad, but I just don’t think I have the time to use it right now

  • @AaronTurnwald
    @AaronTurnwald 16 дней назад

    Something is wrong with your mill Brock. For example watch the video around the 8:30 mark, and you can see the mill frame bend and twist as you push the saw head back n forth. Maybe it needs to be leveled and a jack slipped off the board pad you had it on.

      Sales pitch? I never even stated the brand that I use. You must’ve been watching a different video.
      I publish videos every other day working outdoors on my property and I just have a conversation while I work.
      This video is about being a good steward of the land
