Thanks for tips!

Outstanding! This is an amazing tutorial and you know how to easily explain things, top notch work! Is there also a way to export an existing skin to work on it instead of going from scratch?
Thanks! Yes the second half of the video explains what you need to do in order to package the livery to work. But it needs to be uploaded server side. So really it’s for organised servers/events. You won’t be able to just turn up in an open lobby and run it. When I ran a server the liveries would be submitted prior to the event, then distributed to participants via a zip file you just drag and drop into content manager. Then everyone can see custom liveries.
Sadly that’s a bit out of my skill set! I know some basics, what are you trying to do? You can always message me on discord (or join my ac community discord.me/charged) if you want to ask me directly!
This does not work for me I followed the tutorial step by step making a pink abflug skin for an R34 and it just comes up as blue with nothing on it, anyone got any tips?
Doesn't line up properly when I export it into the game :/ SOLUTION: because I was using GIMP instead of photoshop some of the layers were expanded and when exported as adds they were changing the canvas size. Simply click image in the top menu and select flatten image and it should work(make sure your mesh is invisible)
Best video and so easy to follow! My only downfall is when I add the paint color I want in photoshop all is good from that point until I open it up in AC. From there every part of the body is that color. Like vents and even windshield wipers are colored Lol. How do I get only the body parts colored?
Very well explained, man! Only problem is when I export body files, including kunos cars, the png file gets trimmed and the wire ones don't. No idea why or how but I just can't make it work :c Downloaded PS just for this and been trying for over 1h30 and just can't get it right. Also, I tried using the DDS files from the game files for the kunos cars as you said at the very start of the video, theyr're not transparte so I can't customize them, the cars just keep the original paintjob. Pls help
Your Video is awesome! Great Tutorial! But I have a question! Is it possible to create liveries without owning Assetto Corsa? Where would you find all the cars to download? Cheers
In a roundabout way maybe. But you would need to acquire car models (google) and then import to for example blender, then uv unwrap them yourself and texture. But AC ultimate edition is well worth it for many reasons.

@jamesrowland2002 Thank you James for excellent tutorial. I am hitting a snag with one modded skin. The TCL Jaguar Mk 2. The output from Calculate AO is just a black image. Any suggestions? how to make black livery ?Backround is black on export file from assetto. If I put black picture in Gimp to multply on car then I cant see the body and if I want to add stickers ,cant see where to put them.
method 1 - make the black layer white and use the 'colour overlay' option in PS, work on it as white, then colour overlay as black when ready to export. method 2 - Ctrl I (invert) the AO layer so it becomes white rather than black so you can see the outline when you work. invert back to black when ready to export.

Im not owning Photoshop, and I hope this can be solved without such (paid) software? Appreciate your feedback! Thanks and regards, Dave
Photoshop can be acquired for free easily. You can also use gimp or paint.net which are free. To me this sounds like you can just replace the windshield textures with blank ones. Make a 1x1 pixel canvas, completely blank, not even background and render it as dds using method in video. Good luck.
ctrl a! learning shortcuts and commands make the process a lot easier when you've done it a bunch of times, you can also go to the 'select' tab and just click all there! helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/default-keyboard-shortcuts.html happy skin making!
Great video, thanks a lot. Is there a way to use the same method for driver suits and helmet designs? I tried to find the corresponding dds-files with content manager so I can render the ao maps just the same way, but no luck. The .ini file for the car I'd like to change says "HELMET=\helmet_base_yellow\3 and I find that one in the AC textures folder, but how to open it with Content Manager to render the AO map?
You can Google them, same for race suit and gloves, or in CM showroom enable the driver model, then double click on the helmet and you can generate AO that way, still having trouble you can reach out on discord and I’ll just send you the files 💙
