We have been on the road for a year, and the two most dangerous countries in terms of traffic were Turkey and Iran. Türkiye is a paradise for cyclists. Just be careful in traffic. Hey you too! Where are you now? We think the behavior of drivers highly depends on the route. Other cyclists that took the black sea coast told us that traffic was terrifying indeed. We cycled right through the middle and did not have major problems. We are actually already in Shiraz and would say the same about Iran. Highly depends on the route / regions. We try to avoid major lorry routes and have been quite happy with the driver behavior. Glad you liked the video, many more to come. Just need a lot of time for the editing 😅

Nice to watch your video and dream if I would one day have time to make a longer bike trip too. We are actually now on a 9 days trip in Turku archipelago Finland and making a video. Highly recommend this Saariston rengastie ie. archipelago ring road, if you one day come cycling to northern part of the Europe.

I bet you have asked yourself many times "What I'm doing here?" on some tough days. Heading to the direction of home hopefully will give me some motivation during the hard time. Secondly, my bike will be on fresh good condition during the Kyrgyzstan/Tajikistan part. Which are quite remote, and don't expect to find a bike shop there. When the bike parts start to wear out and have reliability problems, I should be somewhere in Europe.

Great that you enjoy our videos. While it would be awesome if someone would edit our videos for us, trust us when we say, you do not want to edit our videos! An average 25 minute episode is made of about 5 to 10+ hours of raw footage. Our editing process therefore is extremely painful at best and one video takes us many days if not weeks to complete. At the same time our ad rev sits at an average of 15€ per episode, so in no universe could we dream of paying an editor. Sorry mate.

Hallo, ja leider gibt es derzeit viele Probleme auf unserer Strecke. Als wir unseren Entschluss fassten sah das noch ganz anders aus. Hauptprobleme für uns, Aserbaidschan (weil Arev Armenierin ist unmöglich), Turkmenistan (da derzeit keine Transitvisa), Afghanistan und Myanmar. Schweren Herzens haben wir uns daher dazu entschlossen von Abu Dhabi nach Samarkand zu fliegen und nach Zentralasien nochmals von Almaty nach Bangkok. Wir hoffen, dass wir in Vietnam ein Visa für China bekommen können, aber das ist noch in weiter Ferne. Theoretisch wäre über Russland möglich, aber das ist für uns derzeit keine Option.
@@AmazingWorldBikeTour Genau das gleiche hab ich für meine geplante Tour auch festgestellt. Aserbaidschan hat übrigens immer noch alle Landgrenzen dicht. Da würdest du allein auch nicht reinkommen (mit dem Fahrrad).

Everyone has their own experiences but Turkey is not safe for cyclists. Especially Turkey should be a no-go for single cyclists. The road conditions are not good and dangerous. I think the route shown here is unique and should not be treated as the medium. Please ensure that you check all maps (and applications) that you are planning to visit.
Of course the individual experiences differ wildly, depending on where exactly you go and who you are. We’ve met many cyclists from all over the world in Turkey and none considered Turkey dangerous. Traffic situation is much more challenging if one takes the main road on the coastlines, especially at the Black Sea or huge cities like Istanbul. On our route through the middle drivers where very respectful 99% of the time, no matter which type of road we used. We always make sure that we are highly visible when on the road, which helps drivers to recognise us early enough to overtake us safely. On our route from Germany to (by now) Iran we would only consider Georgia 🇬🇪 as dangerous regarding traffic. We would not recommend cycling Turkey to single women, especially in the far east, but all single men we met had made good experiences.
Well I guess that is try for the majority of big cities in the world. Even in Berlin many cyclists get killed every year unfortunately. As we spend most of our time riding between cities, this is what is important to us.
@@AmazingWorldBikeTour, Indeed, I personally hit by a bus in Warsaw some years back. But in Turkey the culture is not there and not only in the cities but between the cities. My experience especially towards to eastern provinces were very bad. I would either suggest people to stick south routes or skip Turkey.

Hello Martin, yes, there were quite a few dogs in Turkey, and some encounters with Kangals were a little tense. The apps we use changed a lot during our trip. Komoot uses a lot of battery, why we now only use it for general route planning on our computer, but not for navigation. We've tried several OSM based apps. By now we still sometimes use Komoot for planning, but Mapy.cz or sometimes even Google Maps for actual navigation if needed.
