why? CGIs were awesome back in the early 90's already, only the animators and directors became less talented in general, plus the studios more greedy, movies are made on conveyor belt nowdays
2000's was when CGI went through a major growth period. Especially mid 2000's, right around 2005 specifically. Add to that King Kong (of that same year), and numerous other titles that came out around that time... You look back and realize those days were the defining moment of when CGI started to get really good. And some of it even looks better than today's stuff purely because the animators worked extra hard to get it as good as it was - today there is a greater reliance on the tech itself and it almost seems like there can be less time spent adding attention to detail.

The Doom movie was actually decent. The only issue I had was that they removed the idea of having demons entirely and replaced them with super mutants of the unregulated Science! variety.
They removed any demon and hell reference because doom was a controversial game in that time and they needed to modify the story for a "more appropiate audience".
I never knew anything about doom until I saw this movie. Back then when I was a kid this scene was the most badass thing I saw and loved it. And still do, I'm just glad I never really had any bad opinion about the movie.
The only thing I found bad about this film is that the things which are hunting the re-enforcements are not demons like in the game. Instead, they are simply infected and mutated people.

It always surprises me just how raw and visceral that fight with Pinky is. Its shot so well, considering its an unbroken perspective, and watching it multiple times, you notice more and more of the small details.
And some details were wrong, like when he cuts the left dorsal part of the pinky, and the cut appears on the right instead. Its a great fight, you have to watch to carefully to notice, but this isnt something you can pick on a first time watch, so it doesnt really affect the overall quality.
@@BerserkDoomerI see what you’re saying, but I just watched it with that in mind and he did actually cut him on both the left and right side. And some details were wrong, like when he cuts the left dorsal part of the pinky, and the cut appears on the right instead.
