Brutal 55, Love it! I absolutely love 5-5 Chevys. I had one back in the late 60's. 3rd motor was a 500+hp 331ci Corvette SB, Pontiac Muncie 4 speed and street 4.11 posi rear (4.88 strip). Best quarter mile time 11.96 at 114+mph. Sold the 55 in '70, BIG mistake !
This the kinda 55 I want to build,I just need an inexpensive one ☝️,to start my dream , and do and go places to run it and daily drive it too, thanks BigAl California.
Years ago about 1996 I was playing with a car on the dragstrip and I thought it ran pretty good now a days its slow ran in the foot brake class in mid NC no electronics , I entered in a high doller race at Piedmont Dragstrip they had two races a $10,000 dollar race and a $4,000 dollar race open to all cars now I have won some money with this car so thought I would try the $4,000 race made 1 pass at about 11am did not get to race until about 3pm talked to the past track champion and he was in his mid 60s at that time and he told me most likely you will have to race a rall put a number on it that you can run and kill the tree (a great reaction time) because you can't see the rall well my car ran the same time at 3pm as it did at 11pm the rall had a better reaction time than I did but not by much, I was in the right lane when I got in 3rd gear I quit looking at the track because the car drove so good and straight so I started looking for the rall and I seen it when it passed me at the finish line at 130 mph now this was 1/8 mile and not 1/4
In about 1998, I was at Roxboro to race footbrake class with my truck that ran 7.30's at the time. Rained, not many showed up. Track owner had a meeting and told us he wanted to hold a race if we wanted to run one, but we'd all have to race together, not enough for 2 classes. Drivers agreed. Buybacks 3 rounds instead of 2. Kept the footbrakes together until they were out. I raced one car twice along the way. Had to race a rail running 5.16 (don't ask me why I remember that time) the 5th round or so. I ran dead on my dial in and won. Went to the last 3 cars. Me, a Camaro box car running high 5's, and that same rail. Rail got the bye. Camaro's trans brake died at the line, he had to foot brake it, so I should have won easily. I gave them extra time to sort it out and everything. Little did I know, my transmission had broken during the burnout and I had no 2nd gear. Didn't know until I launched and hit 2nd and it didn't shift. Went on to 3rd and it had that gear, but slowed me to a 7.70 and I lost. But I went to the final 3 against box cars, so I was happy about that. Good times.

I love that the 55 still has the fenders stock! I usually love a radiused ‘55 but there is something “sleeper” about a stock bodied ‘55
That fully framed battle ship kept up with that rail like nobody else's business, badass
That Chevy has been saying to itself - what the fucking hell am I doin!!!
My '57 Ford would eat that Chevturd for a snack.

Good luck friend
That inexpensive 55...has a 30,000 dolla drive train...
"I thought he had a good chance" said no one
There is no backing down in that '55, Definitely a mean machine, Whatever is sitting across from it that '55 will take it on.
Why did they change a perfectly good 1/4 mile track into a chinzy 1/8 miler?!?
That was fricken awesome
One badass ‘55
What's the name of the 55 the Rust Bucket LOL
Looks like another mismatch to me. The 55 is setting lower on the left side.
That Chevy put up a fight

Beautiful.
Idiots didn't show the E.T. so I don't know who won.
Its obvious who won just look at which light came on first
Idiot didn't pay attention to the lights that told the winner
that 55 surprised me....,
😊
Dumbest race I've ever seen, but ide take the 55chevy all day long
How fast was that?
6.0s
@@nathanalcorta Holy Crap!
If he would keep front wheels down that would have been a hell of a lot closer, one bad car
The title insinuates the '55 is not dragster. They are BOTH dragsters.
The 55 is street driven which makes it a street car
