    This Sam Mclure bloke is so embarrassing. Why does he still have a job. He is still back-pedalling off his “breaking Harley Reid story”, that turned out was just his personal opinion. How utterly ridiculous that they are comparing West Coast to North. West coast have had 2 top 10 picks in the last 14 years and they are in the last 2 drafts. Both look good, whilst one looks like the best draft pick of all time. Seriously going to compare that to North who have had 6 picks in the top 4 of the last 4 drafts alone. That is crazy. North have received 5 priority picks, then also get pick 3 for loosing a mediocre player. For crying out loud your comparing apples and orange buses!

    3:33 Hilarious this comparison given this show scolded the Roos 6-8 weeks ago for not having a Harley Reid to bring them up, now a temporary reversal of form between both sides and all of a sudden North has an exciting, stacked young team instead of a Reid-shaped hole.

    3:30 It’s so obnoxious of the media to play revisionist history and act like they knew all along something that we didn’t because back when West Coast won back-to-back games, everyone was killing North Melbourne for their drafting strategy and not tanking the last game to get access to the number 1 pick. Now, all of a sudden, they are using North Melbourne’s draft history as an example to show where West Coast has gone wrong. Wtf guys

    Simpson and the board are to blame they didn't see the signs during the 2021 season when the club was in decline, we had enough fit players but lost 7 of it's last 9 names after the Richmond win where Kennedy snapped a late winner. Had they started the rebuild proper then, we wouldn't be as far behind now as we are. Players like Gaff, Darling should have been moved on at that point for some decent picks. Going back further the Kelly trade was a killer and it robbed us of more picks in the previous seasons.

      one of those picks was for losing ben mckay via trade, west coast previously stated they never wanted priority picks. you won a flag in 2018 and the list has been poorly managed since then, darling, gaff etc needed to be moved on to trade for picks. why lose draft picks to pick up kelly? poor list management.

      Yeah nice one McClure, compare one first pick, 9 and 14 with about 10 top ten and five top 5 picks. North Melbourne has absolutely no excuses for being as crap as they are. Them and Gold Coast have access to an insane level of top end talent. The Roos will be the first team ever to entire a midfield entirely of top 10 picks. Not a bad handout.

    • @jsequine927
      @jsequine927 16 дней назад

      @@jasondykstra5257yeah we know, it bumped hawthorn’s picks back one, and then another one for Gold Coast’s academy priority pick. We got pick 19 for Franklin, not 3. You wouldn’t trade 3 McKay’s for Franklin. People say Hawthorn got high picks when we won those flags, we had about 4 top 10 picks in 15 years in that run and recruited a lot of rookies, trades and higher draft picks. North will be the first team ever to field an entire 18 of top 15 picks. An embarrassing level of failure and handouts. I wouldn’t be proud about admitting that your club is fine with hand outs when others aren’t. Saying that the Eagles list has been poorly managed when you let go of key veterans early, which crippled the club, and recruited the likes of Shiels, Logue, Tucker, Howe, Stephens, Greenwood, and lost Higgins, Tarrant, JHF and McKay. Wouldn’t exactly say North has ‘managed’ its list well if you take away the top 5 draft picks which blind Freddy couldn’t f*** up.

      Pick 2: position at end of the year
      Pick 3: compensation for McKay via FA
      Pick 15: Ports first rounder part of jhf trade
      Pick 17: part of the GC trade in picks
      Pick 18: part of the trade with Carlton (or Sydney, picks were shuffling quite a bit)
      Point is. NONE. Not a single one of those picks was a priority Pick. Now those picks were before academy and father-son bids too mind you yet those picks were accumulated by North in an aggressive attempt to utilise and maximise their resources on top of what the AFL gave North. that was also under a cloud of "to be re-assessed" and fundamentally wasn't used as the sole piece that helped bring in what North drafted last year.
      North were aggressive in their recruitment. And despite Harley Reid, who NO ONE can doubt, he is but a single player in contrast to the many that North have sought after.
      That's what's been brought into question. WC's lack and inability to aggressively pursue players via the draft. And although the odd trade has brought in a player or 2, WC is in trouble for alot more pain.
      Hate to see Simmo under so much doubt as a former North man. But it's emergency bells for WC as a whole, cause if they don't get the club in order, they'll be down the bottom ALOT longer than North has been. Tassie isn't that far away.

      @@jasondykstra5257 I suggest dont listen to Melb Media, they told WC dont pick Reid and split the pick, also North should have tanked to get him lol. WC did not ask for priority pick because they got told by AFL it wouldnt be a good look after 2018 Premiership. Btw, North finished 9th in 2018 with 12 win but got 2 Priority picks 4 years later in 2022, The AFL gave them 2 extra 1st Rounds in 2023, and they dropped it to the media on Friday before the Prelim final, and just before the brownlow, so it would get buried by the media. AFL Laura Kane dropped it and guess who she worked for before AFL, North Melb. So WC with the record they have the last 3 years with a percentage of 49 last year, get no priority picks and North get 5 extra the last 2 years. And then FC compare the 2 clubs. Its a Joke !

    West Coast’s player development, management and coaching has been a dog’s breakfast for many years; so it is just impossible to make any kind of accurate talent evaluation on these players. Suffering through a 10-60 record has also been traumatic for them. I think it is only when a competent coach steps in and starts cleaning up the mess that any kind of assessment can be made on the state of the team.

    Young players are getting games. Regardless its not a bad thing to be at WAFL and learning your craft and developing confidence. Do the club want to play H Edwards on the opposition's best forward when you have Barrass and McGovern. Guys like L Edwards Chesser Maric have been gifted games. Hutchinson picked in second week after midseason draft. J Williams was average last years and early this year. But through careful management betwen WAFL and AFL he is starting to come on. B Williams just turned 24 is being given a go as a key forward making the forward line top heavy as part of development. Do fans or the AFL media be happy to tolerate a young side full of players that will end up being delisted in two years getting thrashed every week. What do the better youngsters learn anyway from that. There is just a lack of talent. They will probably offload more guys in their early 20s this year because they're not good enough. But what can they do? Is it better to have a side of mediocre teens and early 20s or experienced guys that have skills and leadership credentials.

    You need to give the supporters something to cheer for. The 2nd's blokes have to earn selection. You just don't gift it to duds.

    It’s very easy sitting in your studio bagging others that are doing their best, alright it might not be good enough but they are having a go all while you so called experts think you can do better well put your name in the hat for the job when it comes have a go and see just how hard it is instead of knocking everyone that doesn’t come up to your standards.

      Oversaturation is choking the game. They need to let the game breathe and give their takes a rest for a second. Didn't take a rocket scientist to realise North needed time.

    Ok let's put things in perspective, after Adam Simpson finished his 7th season as coach there were 2 Grand Finals and a Premiership, with West Coast reaching the finals 25 times in 34 seasons and to vomit negative feedback regarding failure of development and draft picks over a 60 game period is Just foul journalism. Yes times at the club are going poorly, it's 5-6 years until the Eagles are in the mix for another Premiership and it seems right for a change in head coach leadership. However I say to this panel... Back off and show some respect for a wonderful football club and focus on the teams doing well, rather than going hooray we've waited 4 decades and can finally trash talk West Coast's on field performances.

    Footy media continuing to flip flop opinions week to week based on a single result. After a couple wins it was all looking up for them until a few losses. This type of afl media is an absolute joke in terms of quality and lack of consistency. They have absolutely no care for how they negatively affect coaches and players. Its a shame how bad footy media for the most part is atm

    • @vigour6786
      @vigour6786 16 дней назад

      No one in media has said that the club has done a 180 after any of their 3 wins and changing their opinions week to week. The result is still the same, they'll get less than 5 wins in a season, the coach will say they need time to improve, the year will repeat and we're in the same position as the last year. Reporting on and commenting on the fact that West Coast have done nothing for the last 5 years while Hawthorn, Suns, Saints, have all built their list to the point where competing with the rest of the competition isn't done in hopes of negatively affecting the coach or the players, its a hard truth and if west coast dont want to admit it or listen to criticism then they will stay where they are for the next 5 years.

    I still think Simmo should stay, sacking the coach is not going to do anything. Maybe having a succession plan with Cox or Hansen might be the answer. I am perplexed why Darling is rucking when Jack Williams should be given a go, thats who was backing up Bailey williams when we beat Melbourne last time, and he got the tap when Harley kicked that goal from the middle. He also kicked 4 goals week before in the WAFL. I heard Darling has to play every game to get to 300 games. Cant be loyal when your head is in the chopping block.

      You say you don't want a change of coach then go on to say you're confused with his coaching. Who do you think sends Darling to the ruck? Who do you think decides who goes to the seconds and who plays in the 22?

    True, Edwards and Williams are not even good WAFL players! Hough is a waste of space in defence and Jamie Cripps is as selfish as any player has ever been. Flynn has been talked as if he was Simon Madden and has been a disaster in the craft of Ruck.

  • @ruzzy8883

    Sack Simmo now, get Matty knights to coach for the remainder of the season and if they like what they see sign him on. If he’s no good sign another coach in the off season. If west coast are going to stick with Simmo until the end of his contract come out and tell it to the fans and public so Simmo doesn’t have to answer these questions every press conference.
