In beginning of 1940 - after Nazis had defeated Poland - there was NO real fear in France/Britain, that Germany could attack them, as
    1. France was the most powerful land power (at least in Europe), most modern equipped and had the Maginot-line
    2. Britain was the most powerful sea power and had a good airforce. And they had hundreds of thousand of soldiers in France to protect F, B, NL.
Because they had no such fear, they did not well prepare for such possibility ! And they were overrun !

But I am glad for it and I have strong sympathy for Brits, until today they have a fighting spirit that finds no comparison in all Europe. That is why Russians in fact are mainly afraid of Brits.

Remember that Russia has 190 00 soldiers for the invasion of Ukraine if Russia plans to overrun Ukraine they were supposed to deploy at least a million soldiers. Russia wanted a peace settlement, unlike when Germany attacked Poland. The campaign of Russia invading the whole of eastern Europe is a scam. Putin has said from day one that he doesn't want Nato on Russian borders, but enemies of Russia are trying deceitful to recycling Russia using a false pretext. That Russia is targeting all former Soviet countries, a lie which has been propagated in New York and London. Putin has always been open for dialog. Comparing Nazi and Russia is scam

Russia is very badly equipped and badly trained. They have an archaic command structure. Their morale is rock bottom. The soldiers are badly treated by their commanders. Russian equipment is old fashioned, obsolete and in an atrocious state of repair. We should stop talking about them as if they were a World power. Russia is a 3rd world country not a super power.

I believe their air force would be gone probably within 48 hrs as would most of their surface navy. Their army probably does not get past eastern Poland. If Japan & S.Korea join in then their Siberian forces are wiped out. Even if you think like a Russian, I cannot see the upside to attacking NATO.

If NATO overreacted and got immediately involved, it would have been to everyone’s detriment except Russia, because Russia is the provocateur.
The optics have clearly fallen into NATO’s lap, rather than when the War On Terror began, and ppl had to keep it to themselves unless their misgivings were flushed out. Russia has the worst optics imaginable, and cannot hope to ingratiate or obtusely bully the west into thinking otherwise.

It would be disastrous if Russia and NATO got into a war now - NATO is definitely NOT ready yet because it is not truly cohesive what with Hungary and Türkiye doing their Moscow thing, several NATO members not contributing enough to their own defense (let alone the coalition's defense), far right political elements sympathizing with Russia at every opportunity thanks to Russia's well-oiled propaganda machine, etc. However, if Russia did attack it would solve the aforementioned problems quite quickly and create a unified and focused NATO - (though NATO would pay a high price thanks to its initial confusion and usual disorganization and finger pointing, like the USA)!

  • @PowhiroMus
    @PowhiroMus Месяц назад

The harsh reality is that no country is really prepared for war, especially against aggression. The aggressor usually prepares to attack where they perceive their opponent is weak, unprepared, can be surprised.
Against Russia, yes they can do some early damage in a surprise attack but it is very, very hard to launch a credible surprise attack while satellites and EW resources watch 24/7. It is more likely that there would be increased tensions, positioning of forces and countering forces.
Every NATO commander would say that they need more but every NATO commander would know that awesome, overwhelming might is coming to back them up and to take the fight to destroy the enemy. Against Russia, it is not a fair fight, NATO is far too superior, the outcome is never in doubt.
The West isn't orientated to war and aggression but if it encounters war, it has enormous industrial might and economic wealth to change things very quickly. Like against Russia it would be a 50 to 1 advantage in quantity, much more in technology.
The West is a loose coalition of 70 mostly highly developed, prosperous democratic countries, individually capable but if fully unified in common purpose, they can dominate the entire globe.

The good general here never saw a war that he did not like( like John Bolton and Lindsay Graham, to name a few), but he never explained that NATO cannot defeat Russia not because NATO has not open 5 or 7 thousand new military factories, but because Russia HAS MORE NATURAL RESOURCES.

No one is ever ready for a war, and the General brings up good point about being mentally prepared. However, in any conventional war between Russia and NATO, the war isn't going to be effectively over in weeks or months.
    1. Russia no longer has the manpower or weapons to hope to face even Poland.
    2. Russia would immediately be fighting on a massive front with air attacks from Finland to Turkey, plus all the oceans. Single ships could do in hours what all of Ukraine took months to do -- even in a limited response, everything hundreds of miles back from the front in Russia is going to be hit. Cruise missiles, stealth aircraft, massive conventional bombing with precision weapons, etc.
    3. NATO still has all it's advanced weapons which it will be firing on day one in massive numbers.
    4. The economic blockade would be instant and utter. All ships, all oil, all gas, all exports, etc. would end. Even India and China would be putting their heads down.
    5. I would expect senior leadership to be targeted, cyber attacks, etc.
    6. Russia can't win any attack on even Poland.
After Ukraine, the question isn't whether NATO is ready to defend against Russia, but whether Russia would be destroyed so badly within the first weeks that it would have to resort to nukes.
