K364 was a masterpiece of creation by Mozart and these two execute this very well indeed, Tim and Alexander work so well together, it's a conversation! they talk they harmonise they agree and joust they make love.they cry, the share pathos just incredible, the orchestra has equally important role not just providing background accompaniment but bringing an extra dynamic dimension of musicality only Mozart could do. Love Tim's facial expression His love for this is quite clear. Bravo!!
Totally spectacular!!! Love watching all of the players respond to one another. Ridout + Sitkovestksy need to work together more often - they bring out the best in eachother!!
This is a very dynamic, energetic and fun-loving performance. They did a beautiful job of unifying the orchestra. Some original timing they took in the calendar, just a valid as some other well-known soloists. I particularly liked the approach to phrasing during the second movement, very musical and touching!
Finally, a recording where the viola predominates. The violinist plays a little bit sharp, which is typical of violinists today. They use it as a form of projection; but it's quite annoying if you have really good ears. I'm very pleasantly surprised by the violist.
Are strongly influenced by the composer's visit to the court of Mannheim. Under the influence of the composer-conductor Christian Cannabich of the mighty Manchai Orchestra - the key of the work is E flat major - the original score for the viola is written in D major, which is a semitone lower. Since the viola is tuned a semitone higher (Accorda un mezzo tono più alto), this makes it possible to use “open strings” more frequently. It is this process that allowed Mozart at the time to give the viola a brighter sound, closer to that of the violin (and also facilitated, at the same time, the execution of the viola part) , in order to obtain a clearer, tighter, more vigorous sound. Nowadays, violists mostly play in E flat major, which gives the instrument a darker, sadder, more romantic sound. The complex orchestral dynamics of the composition reflect the growing technical proficiency of the European orchestra of that period and were strongly influenced by the cavalier de Saint-George whom he had met in Paris and whose Violin Concerto No. 5 Mozart quotes in the final movement.
I love this version. I don’t want to be that person; especially that, I am no pro musician, but I can't help but feel that something is off...just past 29:56 for the viola. Idk still one of my favourite versions
@@joy950453 how Not happening. I'm a violist of high stature and I play 16 inches, and this violist is short and it's clear that he has a small viola.))
Sorry to disagree with most of the commenters here. This sounds to me like the performers would be put in jail if they make a mistake. Thrown into a dungeon, and deprived of all human rights forever. It's a frightened performance. No humour or lightness, no sense of the boy genius having fun. Absolutely ghastly, why do you like this Beethoven approach? Forgive me for saying so, but Alexander Sitkovetksy appears to be trivialising Mozart, like it was beneath him. No phrasing, no nuances, nothing new to learn. A robotic performance, in my opinion. Apologies, I do not mean to offend, but as a lifetime student of the great master, I'm compelled to speak. The section 15:4517:04 is like the screech of a chalk on a blackboard. Where is the understanding, the love?
What a wonderful performance. I’ve been listening to this piece for 45 years and this may be my favorite rendition yet. Bravi!
It´s like hearing a brand new Mozart...so fresh and exquisit played by all, both the english musicians and the two solo´ists!!
Wonderful the call and response is perfectly timed between the violist and violinist!
The best performance I've ever heard of one of my favorite pieces! Both dynamic and nuanced. Amazing artistry by all the musicians!
And also the best performance I've ever SEEN!
the viola entrance at 14:21 is just sublime
Soloist super !!!!!!!!! Fantastic Orchester . Magic Mozart
thank you so much!
Another wonderful performance with Alexander and a very fine orchestra. When the viola echoes the violin I melt. BRAVO maestros.

Stunning performance. Top notch ensemble. And the dialogues between A. Sitkovetksy and T. Ridout are unworldly subtle and endlessly profound.
Yesterday I believed I have heard the best version of this piece, but this one is even better. In fact, the best I have heard, ever.

13:07 Andante

Nothing short of exhilarating. Hank you.
Comfort and gracefulness of Mozart‘s music they play with skilful are off the charts

Timothy Ridout💞💞💞💞💞💞💞🙏🏻
It was breath-taking. Very charismatic and absolutely fantastic! I was taken away.
absolutely fantastic!
Wonderful performance -both orchestra and soloists
That viola tone ❤❤❤
How amazing
Fantastic and amazing recording!
Many congratulations from Germany!
Very excellent performance by this young orchestra. Quite enjoyable.
A wonderful performance of a wonderful piece. They deserve the rapturous applause that's sadly missing from this Covid recording.

I recently noticed I've lost my CD of the Heifetz/Primrose RCA recording. I hadn't heard this piece in a while, so this performance was great for me.
I don't know how I missed this recording but I'm so glad to have found it! Tabea Zimmerman had a great video too but I think it got taken down
Meravigliosi. Ottimo Ensemble!
Molto con fuoco! 🥰
Deserves many many more likes than it has gotten in 10 months! Superb! Exhilarating! Mozart would be delighted I have no doubt! G Ire

Wonderful
Great Performance!
Mozart the godlike musician.....the andante is just profoundly
Unbelievable =O
Brilliant
Nice interpretation. Timothy has the upper hand technically and musically, but still great music making!

Thanks, but I like the first two more 😂
Both are terrific but Ridout is especially superb.

He played one flat note in the high scale, but the recording stays pretty much the best I’ve heard regardless.
@@brickfather2222 ikr. I don't usually notice these things but the good playing really maintained my focus.
Bravi
Mozart is very content! So am I.
Total opera end to end - as it should be.
Very nice! But I prefer big viola with sound close to cello
actually this is a pretty big viola! Its sound is, in my view, the perfect combination of alto and baritone on different strings
His viola is around 17inches…. Which is BIG! 😂

I’m a cellist and even I can see that’s a big viola! 😂
