Love this video!!! Reminds me of my family & friends. Every year we all get together at my house. Crush the grapes, drink our wine, eat & laugh. Then a week later press the grapes, drink our wine, eat & laugh !!! Love that time of the year..
Brings back memories of when I was a young lad in Pullman on S. Forestville Ave. In the late 1950s. My Nono used to make wine for the neighborhood. I remember the produce truck delivering cases and cases of grapes to my Grandparents' back yard. I watched and helped him crush the grapes in his cellar. We kids would make scooters out of the empty wooden crates and disassembled roller skates. What a magical time in my life! Thanks!
Reminds me of my childhood when my grandfather and uncles use to make wine. I wish my grandfather was still here they all stopped making wine after he passed, maybe it's cause he took all the secrets with him, lol. After watching this video I think I'm gonna get my grandfather's wine press from my uncles house and see if I can inspire him to make a batch with me. Take care and don't ever stop your tradition your kids and grandkids will appreciate those times even more after you guys are all gone.
Chicago native here- Been making wine together with my old man and my buddies for 4 years now... this was the video that inspired it all. Hope that these guys are keeping the tradition alive!
Bravo, it's good to see there are a few of us paisani that continue a great tradition.. In la citta di Cincinnati we do the same..close to 20+ amici e famiglii gather and perform, create and make, a great, number of barrels.. The best part afterwards, mangiando e bevando!!Salute di paisani di Chicago. Siate buon!

I don't know if this answers your question but you need about a 100 pounds of grapes to make 6 gallons of wine or maybe 5 and a 1/2 but that would be on the stems
Buona Mattina a Tutti!! How youse doiun'?! Furgheddaboudit!! I hope everyone is enjoying a great day!! Is la famiglia still making the wine? If so, how much are you making? What grapes are you using? Just curious.. We have been doing it for 42 years straight, getting grapes from Lodi California.. Siate buon, ciao giacomo
