Great video! Still confused about how your 100AH battery is connected to the Yak-Power system and how you incorporated a separate battery for the fish finder. I currently have the same Yak-Power switch with battery box(18AH total) and have the finder run off the M port on the switch. I just added a trolling motor on the bow with a 100AH battery and wanting to do the same thing you did. I will most likely just do the one 50amp breaker for the motor but would like it to be integrated into the Yak-Power system.
I only have the one 100AH battery. Let me know if I can explain more, can chat live if you like. I will be having another video out soon about the rigging of the Knarr is just got this year.
Just curious if I can leave my 18AH battery box connected to the red power plug (Power In) on the RP5R switch to power the other electronics and lights while also running the Trolling motor directly through the 50amp breaker(also connected to the B port on the switch) to the 100AH battery. I didn't see how you have the switch powered in the vid. Just don't want to fry anything. Also...wondering if you have experienced any interference/disruption on your finder using the the single battery to power everything. I am rigging an Outlaw 11.5 BTW.
Also, in case you do not know already, there is a setting on your fish finder that will allow it to automatically power on when you press the button on the switch so you don't also have to also press the power button on the finder...just FYI.
@@JamesRichardson-wr1me Will reply here shortly. Stuck in traffic, I’m sure there is a way to do it. As for the auto power on, I have that set on my new setup! Thanks!
@JamesRichardson-wr1me James, finally got around to read the entire question. Are you looking to use both batteries as one big battery, or are you looking to have two independent batteries?
This is exactly what I needed. Thank you for posting. Great set up.
Glad it was helpful!
This was suuuper helpful Sir ! I owe ya a beer 🍺
Thank you so much! Let’s get some beer and fish! 😊
thanks for the video, picking up one of these on sale as they are discontinued and want to built it out over the season a little at a time.
It really works great! Enjoy!

Nice setup! What gauge wire did you use for the trolling motor?
Great question! I used 8AWG marine grade cables. That’s all that is needed.
Those connectors are only splash resistant for vehicle application.
To which connectors are you referring?
@@captainrookhook SAE type
@@fishntools check out yak power, and I don’t plan on submerging my kayak, at least I hope not 😂 they are il68
@@captainrookhook Oddly enough is doesn't state that in the J928_202208 specification?
@@fishntools interesting not sure why they sell it then for Marine type environments
How do you have the battery mounted inside the kayak?
The battery was actually in the bottom part of a battery box that was placed in the bow hatch of the kayak.
@@captainrookhook did you have any weight distribution issues with having the battery in the bow along with the trolling motor?
@@MrDJamison24 I did not, primarily because of the power pole and cooler/tackle in the stern.
