I have a Big Rig FD, I am thinking about upgrading the flex drive to this new one. Worth the switch?

Sorry for the late response, but absolutely. The new drive is way smoother, especially if you are talking about the latest drive they offer. The initial two were not chain driven, the latest is. Makes a big difference, and the new chain version is maintenance free.

I would love to have a kayak that wide and stable and comfortable, but I have been spoiled. My first kayak was 29 inches wide and 14 feet long. My current kayak is 28 inches wide and 15 feet long. The kayak I am going to buy next is 24 inches wide and 17.5 feet long. I am addicted to the speed, and it is hard for me to paddle (I am a paddler not a peddler) at 5 mph or less. That being said I am really not comfortable, especially after 4 to 5 hours. On a full day trip, I need to plan several rests. Those rests are a real challenge in the ocean. To rest in the ocean, I need to get out and swim. That can be scary as hell when the water is rough..... I daydream of a 40 to 42 inch wide cruiser that has a comfy seat and room for tons of stuff.
I have been looking at the Jackson Bite angler. It intrigues me and looks sooo comfy.

Totally understand! It’s definitely a big trade off, comfort vs speed, I think that can be said for any vehicle. I can fish for 8-10 hours with no issues, but if the wind kicks up, even with a motor, it’s frustrating.
