Thanks for this video man. It helped a lot. Here’s my little tip I learned while doing this job, YOU DONT HAVE TO REMOVE THE FAN. There’s actually a little tab at the bottom of the fan shroud that you can press to swing the bottom half forward. That way the shroud can come straight up. Hope this helps some of you guys save time!
Thank you very much for the tip....gotta change out the radiator on my 2007 expedition. You're tip will save me some time and probably some scraped knuckles as well!
Just to add on, there’s two little push pins on each side of the bottom of the shroud(if they still have them, lots of people don’t put them back) then it’ll swing up.
Yea. Looked everywhere for a step by step video without finding one. Now that I’ve taken my radiator out and installed I found this video. Very good one by the way. Mine was a 2007 but very similar. Shroud was the most aggravating part.
I just finished replacing my 2008 ford expedition radiator 05/23/2021 and figured why the headlights need to come out . so turns out the radiator clips are easy to access from the headlight holes and behind the left headlight is a couple hoses that are so easy to take off too. The horn needs to be removed to gain access to those hoses easily. Good video dude.
We did this job in July 2022 on our Lincoln Navigator which is pretty much identical to the Expedition in this video. Like others have commented we didn't need to remove the cooling fan since the fan shroud is designed to swing up so it can clear the fan to be removed. It took us 8 hours to do, but we got it done.
You are a natural teacher. Thanks for the video .The way you explain and show the steps is great. my only suggestion is say what size the tool is to do the job.....10 mm , 1/2" etc.
Easist way i find without removing fan and shroud (just have to push up and back towards motor) was to remove headlights then take out the 6 bolts for core support . Then you're about to just pull core support forward about 5 inches. I didn't remove the grill either.
Thanks big bro. I used your methods, not step by step tho. I have to say you did make it a fast job and could have been faster, however, I found it easier to remove the passenger headlight to reach the drain, then other reason to remove the light emerged. Also, removing the grill helped a lot too. Thank you very much. We see you in Philadelphia big bro
Great video. Started changing out my radiator on 1-7-22. Got everything disconnected but ran out of daylight to remove and install new one. The hardest issues was the fan shroud getting it over the fan. Read a comment about there being a latch to swing it open to bypass the fan. That was clutch for me. Now hoping 1-8-22 I can finish the job and get my car back on the road. Again. Appreciate 🙏🏽 the video .
Gotta add my thanks as well for this video; the thing I like about your video the most is the lessons learned aspect of it.....meaning... some of the shortcuts you mentioned.
Hey thanks a lot for doing this! The others videos about this weren't good. I think one thing that would have helped a lot is if you did a short freeze frame showing what the bolts looked like that you took out of each spot.
thanks man extremely helpful, i'm going to be swapping mine out so that I can get the rad that's supposed to come with HD tow package. idk what differences it makes but I need to start towing a bigger trailer here next year so I'm going to add all the tow package stuff that I can.
You didn’t need to take off the fan clutch to pull the shroud off. The bottom of the shroud swings up into itself from the bottom so you can just pull it straight up
Great job. Just drain that radiator first nextime please. All in all you are the man.😊😊😊 You know the mechanic is good when he smoking a cigarette explaining stuff🤣🤣🤣
Which hose connection is the transmission to radiator one? I had the radiator replaced a few months ago and now I'm seeing tranny fluid coming from the driver's side, upper radiator area. Cant see exactly which connection it's coming from. Great video BTW!
Same thing happened to me when i changed the radiator in my 2008 vic. Its weird because i didnt see and tras line go to my radiator. But the trans fluid gets low and leaks from the same spot your talking about..
3 hours hell no that job would take me sun up to sun down x 3 days lol. Nothing easy for me uggghhh. Nice job my friend. BTW what did you charge for that job.
I’m having an issue after changing my radiator, right were the Retainer clip goes on the elbow part of the holes it leaks: so my question is Should I have the truck running as I put the fluid in? I’m not sure why the fluid is coming right back out after just a lil of the fluid is poured in I don’t wanna take the radiator back out to try and figure this out.
how many times have you overheated the truck, the radiator might have been bad. but what happened after that? did u blow a head gasket due to the over heating? fill the car up with water.. TOTAL FILL,, THEN GO START THE TRUCK,, did water push out of the raiator? if so u may have blown a head gasket,, get it check out from a mechanic that know how to check for that.. the test a gave u is Caveman style but it works.. let us know
great video quick question on the bottom radiator hose after you took the clip out you just pull on it cuz I pull on mine and it's really hard or do you have to twist it a certain way thank you any help would be appreciated

Good stuff, I’m watching him work on my car, thank you so much for doing my radiator, next week is oil leak

Thanks for all your help great video,
wanted to mention one thing the fan shrout folds in half no need to remove the fan..

I got them off without removing the headlights

That’s the important thing. Good job 👍🏽

Out of curiosity, did you find that swing part they were talking about in the comments.. fan shroud

Thanks for taking the time to make the video, so helpful for the DIY'ers. Great job!
You are so welcome!
Thanks so much, you're a great mecanic sir. Hadn't seen a video without taking ac line off

Great point!
Thanks for the video, I left the fan on and just pulled the shroud out since my lower section of the shroud was movable.

No problem 👍
I watch from beginning to end
This video was amazing🤗 step by step don't look sooo bad.

really? i missed that
Thank you for the video took me a while but i was not in a hurry .
Good content bruh,...thanx for education ...its all a learning process 🔧🔩🔧💱

LOL
Another way to take the fan cover is to just push the inner clamp up and it swings on the bottom up
Thanks for taking the time to post this helpful video. Good stuff!
Thank god I’m missing all these clips, less labor🤓
Yo ya lo quité fue todo un tiro pero salió y la verdad se requiere mucha paciencia.
yes. absolutely good job!!
great job my man
Bro i used all your method except i found that way to take the fan cover without removing the fan clutch
How did you manage that?
@@bloomMajor hooks underneath the car you can see them facing fan
@@maurotafoya8415 thanks alot man
Thank you sharing, great job!!
Thanks for watching!
That fan troll opens up at bottom. Don’t have to remove fan
Good info.. thank u ☺️

My car is making a squealing sound now, I think it's the water pump. It wasn't doing this before so is it perhaps not sucking up water properly?
could be the bearing in the pump or any of your pulleys or your serpentine belt

Do you guys know what core support will work with my 06expy? It's discontinued part?
great video quick question on the bottom radiator hose after you took the clip out you just pull on it cuz I pull on mine and it's really hard or do you have to twist it a certain way thank you any help would be appreciated
Just twist and pull. It will come off may be the harness thats holding it,, put the time of the video and ill look at it
I didn't have to take the fan or fan shroud off...
What diameter is bottom hose inlet on radiator ?
Any particular reason you're running green coolant in your Expedition?
i like the color, i dont discriminate.. lol green is what it had in it.. so i stayed with green
@@HayesMobileAutoRepair was curious cause Ford spec is orange or yellow.
Green is supposed to be not good for this year/engine combo.
@@drkythri never had any problems with antifreeze...you can not mix some so on that note be careful.
what is the price for a job like that
I believe it’s a three hour job
I got an estimate of $950 with parts
It’s a European mechanic the Audi and other things
Easiest way is to call you.
Lol 😂. 👍🏽
So much unnecessary removals
Really dude? SMH 🤦♂️ Please enlighten us
Thank you thank you! Good job
