  • One of my more expensive guitars that I love. I also talk about the inevitable #GibsonNeckBreak.

One suggestion… one way to avoid happening is to loosen the strings when traveling with these. You can easily tune back up when you arrive.

I have exact same guitar with exact same break that also occurred in the case while being shipped. Really loved hearing yours and your playing. Thanks.

I have this same fear. Im trying to get in the neighborhood of all the classics but the 335 is just too much of a guitar for me to handle. At 5'6, a 335 just looks silly and im a died in the wool parlor lover. Does it check the tones of its bigger brother? I love the sounds of 335's but its just ergonomics at a certain point. Great playing... i fell in love with the blue, these types of blues after getting in a Pinto from hell in Mt in 1990 and ending up in Jersey. I would check records out of the library and did I get educated. Lovely Man!

I would say it is slightly thinner in a good way. It still has balls but doesn't have an absolute distinct sound like Epiphone Sheraton II. Nothing sounds like those Sheraton/335s.

@@ScottLindsey -Thanks….it just feels like I’m missing this brush. I’ve always heard that a 335 is the most versatile guitar, a weapon for any kind of music. I had tried a hollow Les Paul(can’t remember what they call them) but it wasn’t much of anything so the 339 was my only other candidate. For whatever reason, I dont feel funny about casinos/330’s and I can’t tell you why. Maybe because they are so so light. Strange.
Loved your playing. I was schooled on Hound Dog Taylor and the House Rockers. Different from the Mississippi sound but brothers from another mother. Appreciate your advice-cheers from the continental divide.

Why isn't Gibson held accountable for this design failure? They should pay for a complete replacement. I hear of this same braking point over and over again. Why buy from them if there is a chance that my $3k guitar will break.

Man, any guitar will break if it falls to the floor by the neck with no protection.

@@alrangelal not if the neck is made using a scarf joint. the reason Gibson's break at the headstock so much is because their necks are made from one piece of wood at a 16° or 17° angle.

@@alrangelal Not at all. Add a good volute, scarf joint the neck or reduce the headstock angle and you have a much stronger neck with far less chance of a breakage.
