His signature serpents ride is literally my favorite big bell loud ride. My favorite ride of all time for anything is the polyphonic ride but the serpents ride is def the go to when I want a pingy cutting bell and the stick definition is crazy but still has some crashability and has some wash to it unlike other metal big bell rides which are heavier and feels like your hitting a brick wall when you try to lay into it.
I just ordered one yesterday! Can't wait for it to get here. Got the pedals already, now I just need them hats lol

Jamie St Merat is stupid good, and plays very like... texture based drumming. Which is unique for any genre outside of some niche low fi black metal.
But I have to disagree with Roddy being a Top metal drummer. I’ve never heard Roddy play anything that I myself, couldn’t play or think up. Roddy is very mediocre relative to the top metal drummers.
I mean, just compare him to say... Gene Hoglan. There is no competition. Or gartska. Or Martin Lopez. Or even Chris Adler. Or Alex Rudinger. Or Kolias.

Really dig the heavy clean cymbals in his setup. Not that I don't love the dry, thin, trashy stuff (I own a ton of them). But this tone is great in many situations as well.

I totally understand that he's using his signature Trick pedals, but it's so funny to me that there's all of the DW Drums and hardware and the one Yamaha cymbal stand mixed in, lol.

Generic... Hes such an awesome drummer. Don't understand why he doesn't just pick an awesome band and stick with them. He spreads himself so thin, there's nothing he does that's just amazing... and that's a shame.

Drummer is awesome...but that suuckk music style is horrivel... we are in 2018, why keep playng that kind of metal....play shits like...tool....rush....between the buried and me....Periphery...animals as leaders... this is a good stuff to play
The scene is over-saturated with progressive bands. It’s nice to hear some meat and potatoes metal now and then. Plus, Roddy is a cut above the rest.

Ironic that you mention Rush, a band from the 70’s (yes they were ahead of their time and are legends in their own right.) I like the bands you’ve mentioned but everyone of them already have hundreds of imitators already. The progressive scene has become really stale beyond a lot of the bigger bands imo
For an artist, you wouldnt think that this music style sucks and horrible. If youre an artist you would do any play style that you want and it doesnt care for him if he still sticks with that kind of playstyle or still do what might sound suck for other people.
