The crank was not repaired where a conrod would have been. There was a clear shot showing that damage to the crank. Did you bin it or send it to a specialist to repair where the conrod would have been next to the break?

I often find I’m uncertain what exactly the repair method is to be until substantially into it. I’m watching closely, trying to assess what will be done next. Really interesting stuff, creatively using salvaged metal.
One major question. How does the thread cutting function work? I understand threads. I just don’t understand how the tool, cutting a defined thread as it’s advanced through the work, is somehow indexed to the work, so that four passes always cut deeper into the same thread. It seems to me that the speed of rotation of the chuck and the speed of movement of the thread cutting tool must be hard linked. So one revolution is associated with say a 2mm lateral movement of the tool.
