Ive been in to knives and blades in general my whole life. I've never owned a Spydeco until about three months ago. The first day I had it(pm2) I broke the tip, my fault. I reground it and believe it to be the best carry and all around knife I've ever carried.
I LOVE my bugout! As a Spyderco nut, I had never purchased a Benchmade knife before because I've heard people rant about their QC and prices etc. I'd heard all of the rage about this baby, and even WHILE I was purchasing it I was seriously thinking..."this might be a mistake...$112 bucks for plastic handle...it's a little stiff out of the box....and it doesn't really look all that cool...meh...if I don't like it I can bring it back". LOL..yeah RIGHT!!! Damn it...once you get the experience of that thing fitting so well in your pocket...deep carry... almost disappears....and the amazing blade on it...holds an edge well...flips and fidgets amazingly with the axis lock...BAH....I TOTALLY get it now. You learn to feel like it's a part of you...like it takes on a co existing personality with you and you grow into it....or something. Kinda like your favorite pair of jeans or hat etc. Its that thing we talk about with stuff we REALLY love..and I don't know how to exactly quantify it...but this thing HAS IT! I feel the same way about my Olight S1R baton II that I keep on my keychain. DAMN IT I LOVE THAT THING!! This is the kind of gear that nuts like me get off on. Next Step...Mini Crooked river, 940 Carbon fiber.
Same. Not a fan of serrations either. Have any suggestions on a similar shape/size knife to the bugout? I've bought about 6 knives since the bugout trying to find something that I like as much and haven't had any luck.
Loved carrying my large Honey Badger.good work knife.great little budget knife.trying to like the looks of the spyderco knives have a cara cara and trying to like it.Happy New Year y'all
Jerry Davis • How do you like that size knife? I have a Meadowlark and a Robin, dragonfly, and a Ganzo that is very similar to the Meadowlark. I carry the Dragonfly the most out of all my knives (of all brands), but the recent addition Ganzo surprised me by having the best action out of the box compared to Spyderco (even after disassembly and oiling the Spydercos). Also have a Tangram Vector, CRKT Ripple and Tigh Tac Two, another Ganzo I don’t like (thick and the Axis lock is too stiff).
@@evshrug i like the large honey badger.fits well in my hands.alway prefer bigger knives to work with.although the medium fits ok to.do have the ganzo t rex spyderco cline which i think is about the size of the endura 4.i like it i just prefer flipper style knives or autos.
Me to bird lol my wife got me the green in august and I carried it everyday until she got me the blue for Christmas and I'm loving the satin but even when I carried something bigger I still had the bugout.
My most carried knife has always been my 940 but last June on my way to ca driving down I-40 there were billboards for at least 100 miles in Arizona advertising a place called knife city so yea we stopped and man what a shop it is! Anyway the salesman showed me the buyout in green with the gold standoffs no serrations long story short it is probably in my pocket 27 days out of the month. I still love the 940 but the buyout is just so light!
Most carried 2018 is the Spyderco Delica and the Tenacious. Delicas in the summer when wearing light clothing and Tenacious when wearing jeans. I've got many others but just seem to gravitate to these knives.
Most carried for me are my Manix LW and my modded Delica (it was a Zome Green model, I rit dyed it dark blue and hand-sanded the blade and clip, it's such a good looking knife now)
My most carried of 2018 is a Spyderco Delica. I carry 2-3 blades every day...why...because I CAN! I always rotate blades, but the Delica is my exception; it never leaves me.
My newest favorite has been the enzo necker inside my pocket with either my dragon fly or mini griptilan sidenote ive also been really suprised by the ontario rat 1 thats been a close 2nd to enzo as primary blade cool selections bird and frankie
My most carried of 2018 is a tie between a para 3 (s110v) or the spydiechef. I've carried them together a lot. Now the Native 5 Salt is on me at all times (including right now).
I’m a spyderco guy.Im currently collecting delicas in all colors “I know ridiculous “ however the damned benchmade bugout was probably my most carried blade as well.A close second was the spyderco para 3 all serrated as a trial I ended up loving it plus you can find them for 88 bucks or so on amazon
I always carry a minimum of 2 knives. One Spyderco (if not both) & one BM, Kershaw, CRKT or other brands that are decent. No Gonzo or Mall Ninja knives. One is for food prep & the others for utility cutting. Plus I usually have a neck knife on too.
Dano DeMano • My Ganzo that looks like a Delica (there are some small differences, but...) has surprisingly good fit and finish. Out of the box, the action was smoother than all of my Spyderco and Byrd knives so far, which I did not expect. I would have bought a Delica for $30, but with both knives being from China, almost equal steel, and the Ganzo being a shade of green I prefer and only costing $12 vs ... what, $70 or $80 for the Spyderco? It’s super hard not to be swayed by that price, and I was surprised that the Ganzo was easier to open and close with one hand. I have another Ganzo with an axis lock, but it’s so chunky, heavy, and stiff on the axis lock (literally gives me blisters if I push the lock for over a minute), that even though it doesn’t look like a Benchmade I would rather have a real Benchmade: I think the Ganzo “Delica” is literally their best knife. I was surprised how stiff the detent was on my Kiser Tangram Vector... for the first week or so, I literally had to use two hands to open it, and it’s still hard to open with the thumbstuds. Have you ever tried anything from Real Steel?
Are you talking about the benchmade proper? Maybe a stupid question but i'm new into knives. If you do so it's a cool classic knive, just hard to find it in my country (austria)
Actually I own 6 spydercos, for the type of work I do ( Tree Removal ) they don’t hold up. I have broken my PM2, Para3 and Manix 2. I have had my CS AK-47 for 6yrs and never once had any Chipping, Tip Break and or Rusting. That knife has been dropped from 80ft in the air, exposed to rain, snow, sand, mud and 100degree weather.
Do people actually hate them? I mean yeah they aren't completely fault free like some people would try to make it seem but they are a solid company. If you need a knife that's not going to let you down Spyderco is a solid choice. But I also don't understand Benchmade haters even after taking home a display model that was in desperate need of loctite and I actually returned because at the time I didn't have tools (My first knife above $100 was a Mini barrage though).
I was just thinking about this and my most carried were Enzo PK70, Taylor’s Eye Witness Barlow, Proper, ADV Impi, Quiet Carry The West, SAK Pioneer X, Puma IP Perdiz, Manly Wasp and SOG Terminus. I’ve 2 examples of some, so their each carried every week or two. When I’ve got a bag with me, there will always be a PK70 and a SAK init and one of the others in my pocket. At home my pocket knife is usually a 940 or a Mnandi. Both are not legal to carry out of the house in the UK, which is a shame because the 940 is the best EDC knife ever and the Mnandi is one of the classiest.
Sorry but the best EDC knife ever cannot be an Axis lock. I previously owned a 940-1 for 2 years. No doubt it's a great knife, but to me you can eat with an EDC, the blade is too short for me to eat with it, even the handle is a bit too short if you have big hands. The blade to handle ratio is awesome tough and i respect that a lot.
For eating I’d take my Robert David L’Epicurion. It has similar specs to the 940, on paper, but in reality it’s much slimmer and more dinner knife shaped or else a french Laguiole.
For my first Benchmade, I'm debating between the Bugout in Ben Blue and or the Mini grip S30V with the spyderco circle. Decisions, decisions. I have not touched the bug out yet, will obviously have to do that before the final decision. I have medium size hands. Not large but not Shabazz hands either.
I don’t hate spyderco I just don’t like how they look And my most carried knife of 2018 also my only pocket knife is a schrade sch102 the best cheap pocket knife ever 12 bucks I’ve had it for three years and it hasn’t failed much
Ok, so it will be my 18th Bday in the near months and my parents wanted to get me something special so I suggested a custom Benchmade Crooked River (normal or mini) with some text and a picture, however I don't know what steel to do. I was going to do S30V, but everyone says it is chippy, 20CV gains out a tad in edge retention but it is a lot less tough than the S30V (which would seem to make it even more chippy), and D2 is worse than the both of them. This is more than likely going to be a sentimental knife so it will probably see a lot of carry, just not a ton of use, but in the occasional time it gets used I don't want it to chip up.
I also carried the crap out of my Delica and Endura , but mine are ZDP-189 , I never liked VG10 , so for the extra $25 - $35 it was well worth it to me . I wish Spyderco would come out with a new and better "value line" in D2 or 14c28n or something decent , I'm just soo tired of the 8cr13 Tenacious line and Bird line of knives .
I was going to subscribe to your channel this evening but when I saw your most carried knife had serrations, well, ya know. Like you vids and will subscribe after the disappointment wears off.
Hiker Marapese • LOL, If you watch their bugout vid they would’ve gotten it with a plain edge too, but it came serrated like that as a gift or something and Bird was surprised how much he found he liked it. They have almost no serrated knives.
M4 PM2, REX45 PM2, ZT 0462blk, ZT0452wbw and most recently the amalgam. I honestly have a hard time getting myself to carry anything other than a PM2....I literally pick something else up then change my mind before I make it out of the door.

Bugout in "Ben blue"
Same here Bugout in Green with Black blade. This is due to the weight and deep carry clip.
Naw delica 4 in Ben blue
