Rogue Fitness is known to have, for most people, the best power bar in the world. The Rogue Ohio Power Bar. But, there are some crazy lifters who feel like the knurl could be even, wait for it, SHARPER.
That's where the Rogue AGGRO Bar comes in. It is, according to them, the sharpest they could make a bar.
So, today, I unbox it and give you my first impressions along with some deadlift action to see just how sharp it is.
Pray for my hands.

Couldn’t imagine dragging that bar across my shins pulling sumo, it’d be like a cheese grater.

That bar is great for people who have some serious callousness built up on their hands & want the bar that will give them maximum grip. Definitely not for the average lifter but great for the dedicated powerlifters.
Imagine pulling sumo with that 💀
Nah, dude. A bar this sharp would peel off years worth of callouses in seconds
@@Zakisbackontrack who cares about callouses
@@jamiekelly8354 people who want maximum grip on the bar
i know powerlifters are known for pain and suffering but there are borders to that and they start at the point where it becomes almost impossible to hold on a barbell without ripping their hands open so they loose grip. After all we still prefer weight over pain
Great, now there is going to be a “sharp off” between these barbell companies.
I can see that being a real possibility. I personally do not need a bar that sharp.- Mike, GGR Community Manger
It would be a great new event for CrossFit Games.

I definitely want to feel what this feels like and you, being the All Mighty Coop, should pitch to Rogue a knurling sample pack. Id buy a 3x agro knurled bottle opener and/or can opener for sure. Maybe even a just a 4” chunk of barbell from a messed up bar…but I’d prefer some use out of it, so definitely a bottle opener or can opener.
I’d like to add a agro potato peeler to the list of potential agro knurled sampling products.
A Knurl sampler would be such a fantastic idea

2:05, fair point, but no one really buys a new barbell every six months. Unless youre Coop, in which case, rogue better give Coop some special packaging
I agree. I just got a curl bar and men’s pink once a year bar from rogue today; and fuck opening bars. Those nails are so god damn hard to open. It says you can peel tube, but it doesn’t peel. Barbell opening from Rogue is terrible.
@@brandonhoover2120 i had to use a screwdriver and bend the nails. Ive had two bars took a hour in total
@@KronicNitron same as I did. I was a little faster because I’ve done like 7 rogue bars by now. But it sucks opening rogue barbells.
No one really buys a new phone every six months either.
For 525$ in a barbell??? It should be the least they could do
We just got these at our high school. My weight lifting coach calls us pussies when we complain about them when we deadlift 350-400lbs+
I actually sent Rogue a suggestion about that endcap in their suggestion box.
They really need to change that to complete the theme of this bar, it’s lame how they just gave it a default endcap
Sorry Coop, but that didn't tell us much. All we got was you saying "it's sharp" but without being able to touch it, we've no frame of reference. It would have been good to have macro shots of the knurling on both that bar vs some other bars of varying knurl depths (e.g. mild vs aggressive vs AGGRO), just so we can visualise the difference and get an idea of how it compares to other bars. That way, even though we can't touch the bar ourselves, we can imagine the difference. Some other visual representation may have been useful too. You talk about the abrasiveness on the cardboard, so why not rub some cardboard on different bar knurling to show how much it eats away at it?
You go on reddit often?
Seems like Coops reviews are getting more half assed in my opinion. Just seems like he doesn't go super in depth anymore. I get more detailed information from other channels sometimes. Coop is Sylvester Stallone from Rocky 3 right now. He thinks he's the shit.

Begun, the barbell wars have! I love how there are so many amazing barbell options to choose from. Bought a Rep Deep Knurl at the beginning of the pandemic, and love it, but now I have to find room on my barbell rack for this baby.

I’d also be happy to help sort it out if you needed help understanding all of the different categories. Love talking about this stuff.
I have the same bar, and it took me a couple of weeks to determine to keep it, because it was seriously annoying to the point of painful to use. Almost 2 years later, I don't even notice it. In fact, it taught me the importance of both gripping the bar as hard as you can, and not letting the bar shift even a millimeter on your back during squats, otherwise you're in a for a bloody surprise.
Did you buy it? How do they compare
I used a cordless circular saw to get my rogue barbell out of the packaging. A bit unnerving, but it worked like a charm
It looks like it's expanded where it's knurled because it is lol. Knurling doesn't cut groves, you are pushing a die into the metal which creates high spots.
Coop, develop a product like fat grips but it goes on bars that have a more passive knurling and the add on has a sharper knurling. It would be a fun challenge for some of us masochistic types to see how much we can deadlift with the grips on. My wife’s Bella bar is so darn passive! (Thank goodness we have a Pyrros bar and Kabuki Trap bar with such phenomenal knurling).
Also +1 for the end cap, it should at least have a different colour , it's a fair criticism
Completely agree. It’s such a bummer considering other bars at this price point give more shits about that detail
I could see it being really helpful with straps or grips.
I was literally just thinking about this barbell , glad to see the review
Your review of the 2.0 bar helped my decision years ago
We need a review on the 2x aggro bar!!! Also I think the 2x is the bar most people would actually buy as the 3x is just a novelty in my opinion.
I've the 2x and a SS opb. The 2x is just perfect in my opinion. But I've not touch a 3x as of yet. Was scared too order it lol

Just wanna thank you for the bloopers with your kids. A+ display of patience and humanity while still making a great review
As a Shipping and Receiving guy, it’s one thing to say it needs a better package… but coming up with a good/cost effective options is another task altogether.
Were I a product leader, I would simply add $500 to the overall cost of the bar and have Pelican Cases develop a barbell case.
If you are already pot committed, why not. Would keep it safe from elements too.
@@bgajdek I mean I was joking, but I'm sure there'd be people out there that would want this option.
That sharp center knurl would be GREAT for squats. I imagine it would catch your shirt and stay put like no other bar. I wouldn't deadlift with it, but I might bench with it if I had lifting gloves. That knurl would catch the gloves and almost guarantee a no-slip lift.
Just get the squat bar with full knurling lol
there's a shirt from A7 fitness, the upper back is covered with this rubbery grippy texture. turns a no-center-knurl weightlifting bar to a squat bar, and good for benching too
Got the 3X, love it, much sharper than my weightlifting bars (Rogue Pyyros, Eleiko Power Lock), but not at all uncomfortable for me. Can recommend it if you're a seasoned lifter with years of calluses, very grippy. No chalk needed.
i think the rogue boneyard endcap looks better than the regular endcap but come on rogue doe some embossing or double plating or something cool!
You know my boy actually works out when his hands look like he was a working peasant for the Queen of England. Huge fan!
Really looking to hear some feedback on the 2X AGGRO, which will probably be the best sellar. Specifically, where does it slot in when compared to the OHP in bare or stainless, the OH deadlift bar, and the Texas Deadlift bar, all with no finish or stainless.
First time experiencing a sharp barbell (Titan) the other day when I decided to get back into shape lol. My sister has one in the garage, and I'm not used to it. Feels weird, also been using it for two weeks
I've been waiting for this review!!!
2x AGGRO review coming soon??
I have been waiting for this
Coop isn't kidding around about that knurling. I got to play around with the 3x AGGRO bar at the Rogue facility and no way I'd want to squat or deadlift with it. That said, the 2x AGGRO bar's knurling was on point. I purchased the 2x bar asap 👌🏽.
Thanks! Your little comment was far more informative than the actual video. I'm considering the 2x as I like the volcano knurling....but wouldn't mine one that had some extra bite in comparison to the OPB.
my school got new ones. And we were doing hang cleans during summer football weights. It was like a cheese grater on my hands. So many callises were cut open and it was a bad time.
It's not a weightlifting bar, it's a power bar. Use a weightlifting bar for cleans.
Coop, I agree with you on the opening of the barbell package. However, I found that taking a reciprocating saw to the very end of the tube (within an inch) allows to open it up in about 20 seconds. Just ensure that the barbell is shifted all the way to the other side, so you don't nick the sleeve. It works like a charm every time. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
When I saw the announcement for this Coop was the first thing I thought of. LOL
Same, I knew he was going to have this one pretty quick when it was announced.-Mike, GGR Community Manager
I used a hand saw and cut the end off right behind the metal plate
After maybe a week or two of being released, Rogue already hiked the price another $15 lol
Looks like they've increased every bar's price as well. Bought an Echo bar in March 2020 for $205 and now that's $265 lmao.

@@richardwernke715 steel is relatively cheap to the metals that I work with on a daily basis (gold/platinum)
I worked Inbound Cargo in the military for 7 years. Flat head screwdriver and beat it with a hammer. Works every time.
honestly I think they ship barbells like that cause it's cheap and secure. I work at fedex, and it's so annoying when I'm trying to load a truck at 360 packages an hour and i pick up a long, thin package and the barbell encased in it slips out cause the package isn't secure enough to handle the 45 pounds of pressure put on either side.
Thanks for great review! Really looking forward to it.

Cheers! Been waiting for this review. Got to try low bar squats = add option to get standard knurl in centre...
I have a similarly aggressively knurled bar from Rep (Powerbar EX Deep Knurl) and it took me about 3-4 months to get used to it for low-bar position squats. I had a rash that sometimes bled where I normally placed the bar for that entire time. But it also trained me to not let the bar move even a millimeter while on your back and squatting, and ~18 months later I've not had a problem with it. No rashes or even marks on my back when I squat now.
What's the benefit of having a super sharp bar?
“You can tell it’s a birch tree, because of the way that it is”
Neat
"I'm hook gripping right now... That was a bad decision" 🤣🤣
Idk why im watching this. I like smooth bars😂
Daaaaamn that mustache looking sharper
i’m in a quest to make my calluses bleed during a workout. might have to try this out
It’s pretty unfortunate that everyone is missing the main purpose of the barbell knurling in the comments. Ur suppose to bring an apple with you to your lifts and skin it on the knurling to get a clean and healthy preworkout before lifts.
I need this in my life!
I just recently bought the Rogue bare steel deadlift bar and I thought that was very aggressive. Not too aggressive but just right. I couldn’t imagine going even more aggressive. Thanks for the review.
What do you think of the Ohio power bar?
I really like that bare steel deadlift bar a lot and I agree think the knurling is perfect. -Mike, GGR Community Manager
Elitefts power bar still best man just my opinion!!
I think it sounds good. Give you those Manuel labour palms. Leathery to the touch
I need this bar 😍
My hands are completely scarred due to my skin condition making it so damn dry that it cracks and skin constantly falls off. I wouldn’t want this bar because of that. If my hands weren’t like that I’d love this bar
It's probably sharp for when using gloves for added friction
Coop, my daily driver is a Rep Powerbar EX Deep Knurl, which is very aggressive. Literally took me 2 weeks to decide not to buy another bar, because it was actually a bit painful. Do you have thoughts on how much more aggressive the AGGRO bar is?
Good question. The REP bar is also mountain peaks and all stainless steel including the sleeves
I just replaced my powerbar EX with the 3x aggro. The Rep bar does not even come CLOSE to how sharp the 3x is. Not even the same ballpark. I'd say get a 2x if you don't enjoy pain like some of us weirdos
coop do more cheap equipment review btw love your content
Use discount equipment, get discount results. Instead of buying a bunch of cheap shit, use your energy to get a better, higher paying job so you can buy better equipment. And $500 for a barbell is NOTHING! I spend more than that on a pair of shoes. Got a pair of $600+ Jordans being delivered today, actually. Point being....you get what you pay for
My HS has rogue pull up bars with awful knurling and every time you end up with the marks and my calluses get huge
i believe youre suppose to peel back the angled cardboard and once you start it, itll diagnolly unwind and just come right off..
I need this, my grip is too weak to grab the mega slick bar at the gym to do deadlifts. My actual muscles aren't even engaged because I can't grip the slick ass bar
