Governments have introduced all kinds of policies and initiatives to beat loneliness- from "chatty benches" to Ministers of Loneliness. But few initiatives have worked. Globally, 33% of adults are lonely, according to a study. So, how can we curb the loneliness epidemic? Palki Sharma tells you.

The reason we can’t fix loneliness is because there aren’t enough safe, good, people to fix the problem with.
Yeah almost all my relatives want me to act like their slave. They always demotivate me.
So I don't prefer to talk with them.
I have some good friends but they stay far away from me, so social media is only way for conversation.
But my many friends getting away from group after they get married one by one.
Now only two of us are remaining in that group who are unmarried.
I don't want to marry cuz getting caring partner is very rare these days.
Already two of my college mate have divorced. And office colleague wife ran away with someone else.
I spend most of my time in my imagination.

What you are describing is kind of introvert personality... It is a natural personality style... you enjoy your company... because you feel your self worthy... you feel comfortable being like this...
But lonliness is completely different... They can not tolerate their company... they are infested with worthlessness, shame and self loathing.. they cant tolerate their own company... It is not a natural state... So, he continuously suffers, doesn't matter if he is alone or among thousands of people... It is definitely a karmic reaction...

@@UnbornWarrior123hierarchy, it is an invisible social ranking, we do self ranking, we rank others and so are they. We humans do not mingle or open to people with the rank that we perceived lower than us. Loneliness is just the product of social hierarchy.😅
I love being alone 🤗 I can do everything from the whole day work, I can relax do the cooking, cleaning & everything, go out on the nature, playing w/my cats!.

for real no company is better than a bad company. we live in an age where we have so many things that we can do alone, lack of hobbies also contributes to loneliness, alongside self-insecurity and lack of self-love.

There is difference between loneliness and to be alone . When we are missing something or person etc we feel lonely but when we don’t want any thing or person etc we are alone, wants and not getting it makes us lonely 😌😌

Returning to Islam, immersing myself in the Quran, learning about the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), attending mosque, and contemplating the Day of Judgment helped me overcome my loneliness. I began to think beyond myself, considering the well-being of humanity and societies. The hope of an afterlife where Allah would ensure justice for the world's suffering brought me closer to a sense of purpose. Wanted to share my experience if it helps anyone. No offense, please.

Being a sexual minority, I've dealt with loneliness my entire life. Not that easy to fix loneliness for sexual minorities when you have to worry about physical safety, arrest or worse.

@@SaiSS961 yes, the one that ironically always brags about freedom despite, not really having any. Might not be an islamic country, but pretty close to it. No government protection or laws against discrimination so you could be fired, denied health care, denied housing, denied bank loan, banned from giving or receiving blood or plasma. Socially, you could flirt with same gender if you don't mind the risk of assault or murder that comes with it.

I think the biggest problem is lack of 3rd person spaces, there aren't enough places where u can just hang out and get to know people like town halls etc, besides now people have diverse tastes and hobbies because of internet and globalization, so finding people with similar interests is difficult

When you are single since birth and suddenly you got good partner in 20s and suddenly for some reason you got cheated by partner, then that is the real loneliness, you can never fix even if you get good partner in future.

Option is to get spiritual somthat u r with the atma or part of GOD which wont make you negative. so fill or meditate on promises or positivity quotes from gita or bible. I was very lonely neagative too but after i went deep into philosophy n spirituality reading gita bible and attending sat sangs and praying or speaking to GOD frequently i was able to getrid of all negativity and face persecution or discrimination or hypocrisy, jealousy, greed, of humans around us using the wisdom that comes from god.

Na, it is society, for example when i was a young man in my 20s i had a lot of guy friends and girl -friends. We hung out a lot like at least 3 times a week and always on weekends. Now men and women are fighting each other, now most men don't even say hello to other men? they don't even make eye contact lol i live in canada by the way.

There's something called "cold approach" that men in their 20s, 30s and 40s have started doing where they go up to strangers, give them a compliment and start a conversation. Unfortunately a lot of establishments (like malls and bars) in India are misinterpreting this as "harassment" and then harassing people doing this and/or kicking them out.
Ideally women should start doing this as well but right now only men are doing it. Maybe 20 to 30 years from now even women will start.
