Wow the legitimate look of confusion on your lady's face was very telling - Its not like this in other countries but common place in some American cities. Disturbing yet very well portrayed Peter - As always great video and stories told. Started at 14:44
Hey Peter, I love your videos. My daughter lived in SF for a number of years and I loved visiting that city. The last time I was there spent the entire day walking around and to see parts of the city change in only one year was overwhelming....homeless, open drug use, empty buildings. Thanks for the information on the POPO's. I didn't know they existed. When I go back next year, I'll try and find a few to see the beauty for myself.
Hi Peter, It feels so real to roam the streets of San Francisco. When I see Natalia's reactions and speed up the video, I can feel the emotions changing giving a real feeling. And you winked when you entered the homeless neighborhood. Ha ha. It is interesting to see how each neighborhood kind of curves into its own world. It is a kind of subtle cultural curvature that one one observe. Not physical, but a field of thoughts, emotions curving in, forming its own field. And one can see how it affects an individual's emotions, thought patterns, especially an alien or a foreigner going through these cultural curvature a in a short time. One hell of an experience. Makes me nostalgic. Left US in 2014 after 6 years and back to India. Thanks Bro! For the experience 👏👍!
Great observations Rohit. Yes Natalia's face shows the story. You're right, many different worlds near each other and the frequencies much different from one another.
Peter, I was tickled pink when you shown the USPS mailbag at 11:19. I'm sure it was out of the 1950's. I work for them and there is equipment that predates me like chairs, safes, signs, that I work with that is older than my 42 years being alive. But I enjoy what I do as a clerk at USPS and it's given me a upper middle class living where I'm from in Nebraska. It allows me to travel the world like yourself.
I knew a carrier who used one and he had to fight in order to keep using it as the USPS wanted all their carriers to begin carrying bags on their shoulders. He said, it's like like in the 50s where you had a small amount of mail to deliver, now it's 40lbs of mail which hurts the shoulders if carried for hours. The great thing about today is the decrease in physical mail because of electronic communications, but then that's offset by the amount of junk being sent.
Interesting how everything has changed 3 years later. High paid Tech workers have fled, abandoning the office buildings, high end condos, restaurants and shopping and most importantly Ukrainian has been invaded!
Lovely to see SF and NYC videos from your tour with your beautiful wife. I spent some time in both and its great to renew the acquaintance via video whilst in lockdown. The homelessness problem in SF is sad, but I believe the city's success as the technology hub of the world and resultant soaring rents is a big factor.
Definitely a more diverse San Francisco here than what I’ve seen in the past. The homelessness in California is absolutely heartbreaking. Really hope the government and other charitable organizations can further support the people in need. God bless America 🙌💯🇺🇸
Its a Democrat owned place. Even if Trump gives them money, it wont go to the organizations that are in need. In a Democrat state/cities, corruption is the problem, and keeping propaganda where the money is spent. Pelosi is a Democrat and been in US Senate for over 30 years, but she blames everything on Trump who only in office for 4. Then they have ads telling locals to help their community, but how far can a locals go? On top of being a taxpayers, these Democrats are telling them to help the homeless, hence again its going to come from the taxpayers, never from state leaders.

I think it must be hard to present your own town, your own country, it´s always easier to apreciate "another country" (it´s always easier to take pictures far from home than pictures from your home). @ilyas abdolcader I mean you have to balance an honest I guess tour with safety. Some areas 30 years ago were not safe to be in, and thankfully that has changed a lot. Hunter's point isn't a great place by any means, but it's much better than it was.
It's a beautiful city, I love large cities with a lot of different moods and places to explore. But your comments and seeing all those homeless people reminded me that Europe, for all its flaws, does a great job when it comes to welfare and quality of life in general. Seeing so many people living in the street, in such a rich country, while even animals have better living conditions is quite disturbing.
After she started talking about the diversity in the Bay area... I started wondering how she would react (and contrast) NYC. NYC is incredibly diverse, but is more of a 'melting pot'
My Mother and her family are from NYC and still have family there in Manhattan, Bronx and Brooklyn. I live on S.F and visit family in N.Y every year. I grew up on E.77 and York AV until I was 5. S.F has different latino culture influence Mexican and Central American. N.Y has more Puerto Rican and Dominican culture very carribean vibe. S.F has oldest china town in america. Many Filipinos and Pacific Islanders and other asian communities. N.Y has big Italian and middle eastern influence. Both cities are great the people, culture and the food. Im lucky to have experienced both cities unique culture.
@@yorkmob9993 Yes, that is one big difference. New York is on the Atlantic coast, where Europeans always land first, before heading west. So it has a Strong European (and Caribean) influence. San Francisco, of course, is on the Pacific Ocean, so it is where Asians land first, before heading East (if they ever do.) Also, while New York is near Canada, San Francisco is not far from the Mexican border, which is why we have so many Mexican and Central American people here. The other difference of course is that New York is so much bigger. Like LA, every ethnic group can have their own hood, just like In San Francisco. But in those cities, the hoods spread out and are larger and take longer to get to. San Francisco is unusual in having so much diversity in a small city, which is why you can so easily walk from one hood to another. It's not as diverse as it used to be, due to gentrification, but it's still pretty diverse.
@@Sovereign_Citizen_LEO That's only because NYC is far more diverse than the Bay Area. NYC and its metropolitan area are bigger centers of Asian cultures. It's not even close. The Asian neighborhoods you see in New York City (and even northern New Jersey) dwarf whatever you see in SF. And that's still with NYC being the juggernauts of other, non-asian cultures. NYC asian culture expands beyond East and SE asian cultures too, unlike Bay Area.
Bank at 24:54. There at one time banks like this all across America. In my city we used to have eight of them, before condo development tore down seven. Those were the days when you'd have thirty tellers per branch. No ATMs in site.

When I stepped out from the Delta terminal at LAX I had this strange feeling of finally arriving home. Since a kid I've always wanted to live in San Francisco. Looked so beautiful seeing it from that show Charmed. There house was so beautiful and sooo many hills on them wide streets, Beautiful city.. Need to visit some time.
Agreed, but I'd do the reverse, and apply subtitles for everyone, even for Peter. Helpful for everyone, especially for non-English speakers, and for the cases where background noise can interfere.
This is a great video ... I shared it with my friend in Italy ... I personally haven't seen san fran since '95 ; one of the most memorable times of my life when i was ' couch-serfing ' with people i met ... oh for about 6 months ... back when they had A.I.D.S protest tents set up by the business district near the Tenderloin .... Clearly , Homelessness is much worse now then it was then ... Thanks for sharing !
Detroit used to have a ton of art deco buildings, most fell into disrepair or have been demolished but thankfully many that are remaining are being restored to their original glory.
I really enjoyed these videos. I love the slower place and your conversations about the city and your observations. You wife is super adorable and you both seem to really enjoy life and its adventures. Keep up the great work!
This one brought tears, I lived from 1981 to 2019 in Marin County, Sausalito, Mill Valley, San Rafael, I was lucky that I got to know San Francisco when it was really nice, no much crime, no tents a great city, now back in southern Europe retired and honestly I don´t want to go visit since I know how bad it has got, I rather keep the beautiful memories and save myself the sadness of what has been done
I expect that auntie at the veg stall could understand every word you said but was shy about the camera. It is likely that she has worked her ass off at that veg stall for the last 30 plus years so that her kids could go to college and become Doctors or Lawyers.
Hi Peter, I really enjoy this episode about San Francisco's POPO and the places where you never go if you're a tourist. Thanks for sharing. Perhaps I see you one day, Christa.
I'd love to know what "Europe" your talking about because I don't get no three hour lunch break , I hate it when people generalise "Europe" like its a single country. And its not about lifestyle here its about having a life, not working 3 jobs to still be broke and homeless the minute you get slightly sick.
Those guys playing cards at 5:15, they were speaking Cantonese, or some dialect closer to Cantonese than Mandarin? Can anyone confirm? Another great video, and some meeeaaan rap!
Yeah, I think there are a lot of Cantonese speakers there but I don't know the difference of the languages. Thanks! Glad you liked my old-school rapping ;)
@@PeterSantenello Yeah, but surely nowhere near as much as that Wells Fargo rapper did! ;-) You made his day bro, nice. But I guess in one way you could say that he made his day, by being a human being, a nice person, he could have simply told you guys to come back tomorrow at the assigned hours, but chose to go up and unlock for you because he's simply a decent guy, so from thereon, every positive interaction he and you had, stemmed from his decision to be accommodating. Such is interacting with the universe in a positive way.
The funny thing is, a few years ago, 2017, after arriving in SF (for a conference) from the airport in the late afternoon, I went straight to my hotel unknowingly through Tenderloin. Did exactly what you said. After a first shocking experience, the rest was much smoother. Very beautiful places and amazing landscapes.

Thank You! I lived in the Bay Area all my life and always been afraid to go to San Fransisco because stories of crime and homelessness. This video has showed me that only a small part of the city has problems and a major majority of the city is safe and beautiful....
Thank you for showing tent city as part of your tour. It's insane and criminal what state and city policies have done. Every city has a not so great area, but it is extreme in SF. Like David from your Vermont video said, individuals and government employees/representatives must follow the law and respect law. Otherwise society falls apart. Laws should only be there to protect the safety/rights of the public at large and create basic order. What a wonderful gentleman at the end! Such a sweetheart!!
Thank you Peter! You showed me my home country Eritrea ❤ and now I am living in San Francisco for 12years ❤. '& you showed me the best views in city. Your girlfriend is beautiful 💕And the security guard is nice 🥰! You are phenomenal!
Bay Area born and raised, has not been back since 1969 after serving in VN. SF is trashed and you showed me places that I went as a young man. Now you have to dodge the Sh**T on the sidewalks. I will die and not go back there again, only in your videos Peter! Thank You!

When you winked at the cam, I knew Tenderloin was next up!!! some stuff there cant be unseen.
Another great video Peter. Mad Rapping Skills! Awesome!!!
San Francisco is very beautiful city but it’s very expensive to live there
not if you have a tent!
I'm loving your vlogs you are so calming and a pleasure to watch ;)
Since a kid I've always wanted to live in San Francisco. Looked so beautiful seeing it from that show Charmed. There house was so beautiful and sooo many hills on them wide streets, Beautiful city.. Need to visit some time.
27:00 cool guy man
Roberto, we dont need subtitles for your partner, we understand her perfectly well
Agreed
Agreed, but I'd do the reverse, and apply subtitles for everyone, even for Peter. Helpful for everyone, especially for non-English speakers, and for the cases where background noise can interfere.
This is a great video ... I shared it with my friend in Italy ...
I personally haven't seen san fran since '95 ; one of the most memorable times of my life
when i was ' couch-serfing ' with people i met ...
oh for about 6 months ...
back when they had A.I.D.S protest tents set up by the business district near the Tenderloin ....
Clearly , Homelessness is much worse now then it was then ...
Thanks for sharing !
That was an amazing video. Ive never heard of a popo. Ill be trying to seek them out from now on
Natalia's expression before Tenderloin :)
Natalia's expression after Tenderloin :(
Detroit used to have a ton of art deco buildings, most fell into disrepair or have been demolished but thankfully many that are remaining are being restored to their original glory.
Talking about the antiquated postal service as a UPS truck rolls by in the background. 😏
I really enjoyed these videos. I love the slower place and your conversations about the city and your observations. You wife is super adorable and you both seem to really enjoy life and its adventures. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Jennifer!
Wow... another good one... You walk along and see the streets change. Amazing!
And... soo many home less?! Is the richest State from the richest country?!
And.. the POPO`s thing...!!! Wow!!!
Been watching your shows quite often and its nice to see my Bay Area native gaining popularity and showing Norcal to the world. Salam Brother
The look on your wife's face changed so much once you got in the Tenderloin! So happy and joyful to concern and disgust.
I have never heard of the "popo". If i was homeless there, that's where my tent would be.
Good places, great beats bro!
Thanks Peter.
Hey, Peter! It's so positive in the end of video! Cool! And it was realy big contrast from the beach to the downtown through homeless areas.
I'd love to know what "Europe" your talking about because I don't get no three hour lunch break , I hate it when people generalise "Europe" like its a single country. And its not about lifestyle here its about having a life, not working 3 jobs to still be broke and homeless the minute you get slightly sick.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 wow your butt hurt people generalise political entities lol like its not different.
I can tell you have never been here lol
Great video Peter! I had not seen these before so I’m purge watching 🤣
23:47 that look 🤣
The rapping at the end 🤣 made my day!
4:23 love the architecture 😍
They are speaking Cantonese because most of the Chinese immigrants in this area come from Guangzhou surroundings and Hong Kong
@@mrRnf11 I thought so, thanks.
Hou la means good, okay, in Cantonese. Hou=hao, in mandarin.
Best American travel vlog I’ve ever seen! Really makes me want to go California.
Overall happy vibe by your wife.
Waiting for your videos(which are natural & amazing), when you visit countries in Africa(hopefully, my country Nigeria is first), in the future.
These experiences are always eye opening, educative, and entertaining, especially for people like me who have never travelled(poor finances etc) but will love to(hopefully, I get my finances in shape before I get old.
Nice job Peter.
Thank you! I'm very much interested in Nigeria. Keep the faith and make it a goal. My mother didn't travel abroad until she was 60, and now she's seen a lot.
Thank you @@PeterSantenello
that,s really amazing video brother i like this very much
Thank You! I lived in the Bay Area all my life and always been afraid to go to San Fransisco because stories of crime and homelessness. This video has showed me that only a small part of the city has problems and a major majority of the city is safe and beautiful....
San Fran has stunning Tartarian architecture, so beautiful, and a legacy worth protecting.
Thanks for the private tour!
Great content my friend! 😎👍👍👍🙏👋👋
Never knew about the Popo's! Next trip for sure. Thanks for the videos Peter!
Love the way you vibe with people!!
Such a sweetheart!!
i love you from saudi arabia 🇸🇦 🇺🇸❤️✨
Another great one! You're outdoing yourself man.
Thanks David!
Thank you Peter! You showed me my home country Eritrea ❤ and now I am living in San Francisco for 12years ❤. '& you showed me the best views in city. Your girlfriend is beautiful 💕And the security guard is nice 🥰! You are phenomenal!
Hey at 8:33 minutes you were standing in front of the very first bank of America! At first it was called Bank of Italy.. fun snaple fact for you
Hi Peter you have a great channel, I enjoy all of your videos keep it up brother. 💯👌
Great video as usual Peter :) , The Rap at the end was awesome.
Thanks Chris!
Thumbs up for the rapping🎉
Bay Area born and raised, has not been back since 1969 after serving in VN. SF is trashed and you showed me places that I went as a young man. Now you have to dodge the Sh**T on the sidewalks. I will die and not go back there again, only in your videos Peter! Thank You!
Thank you ❤
extremely good Peter..you catch the essence...
I love the POPOS! Very cool, never knew about this. How do you locate the POPOS or how did you find the list that was on your phone?
Love it Peter! Great job bro
That dude at the building was super cool.
