Absolutely the best guide on how to practice doing this. For anyone reading this comment, this is not an exaggeration - honestly, it’s really helpful especially for controller players! Commit an hour or two to just getting that movement portion down and the rest will come. Thank you so much for this video!
@walmartian422 The problem is as FG players we are so used to push buttons in sequential order when the (P)EWGF demands same frame button pushing, it throws you off. Try to input it as clean and relaxed as possible, one tip that helped me a lot on pad was to hold it with the right hand a bit tighter so your left thumb won't tense up when executing. Once you can do that on the regular, try to speed up the gap between the F and neutral, so you can get used to push DF + 2 together after that. After you get electrics often, skip the D input, you'll know if you got a Perfect from simply looking at your command history like in the video. Lemme know if it helps.
@@Nightmaroid IDK i don't use pad and I can barely do it on a stick. I haven't practiced it enough to even do it in a real match either the execution demand is so high probably the hardest thing to do in the game. My command history is a little different though I feel like the omen style input is very inconsistent with a stick so usually I'm just going for forward, down, down forward with no neutral input and the history in game has to say forward(4-5), down(1), and down forward(whatever). That's how I've been getting it and the new command history in T8 is so helpful because now it's finally showing frames.
Wow I've been practicing this the whole time going through the trouble of pressing the down input not knowing I could skip to just the down forward. Thanks for the possibly unintended help!
For the record you can absolutely go into Down and then down forward (it's mentioned briefly in this video) The reason people prefer the neutral method is because of exactly that; its a neutral input straight into down forward. For the alternative method you CUT out the neutral input and immediately go into down, down forward with ZERO gap in between movements. Requires lightning fast execution so to be honest it's not the preferred input for many, but it's still something to keep in mind and practice since PEWGF demands practice anyways. Learning to transition from forward into down, down forward with no neutral stop is a skill you can transfer over and use when doing 3,1 DF (hold) cancels, which are imperative for combo extension and wall carry🤝 Great vid overall
A tip for the timing that i found is that you can wait to input pewgf as soon as the hit sparks from df2 disappear. To test it, you can manually time df4 at that specific timing and the dummy won't float mid air
This has been the single most helpful tip I have gotten for doing this. You helped me not only start doing it in practice albeit 30-40% completion rate (was like 5-10% lol) to also landing it in matches in the neutral and at the wall! THANKS SO MUCH seriously helpful
Bro if I hit this after watching your vid I’m LITERALLY gonna send you the clip. You explained it so well and there was definitely some great advice in the comments.

Also cool tip that helped me alot in tekken 7: If you bind 2+3 to Left trigger/L2 and input ewgf that way it became way more easier to time for me that way.
omg you are heaven sent i stg i wasn't even able to pull off 1 ewgf let alone 2 wgf in a row and i put my L1 on 2+3 and i just hit 3 ewgf in a row omg you THE GOAT

I Was Experimenting to do EWGF perfectly. Then i accidentaly pressed F, DF2, i thought that was EWGF. My Friend that use EWGF shock when i always do Electric better then him. Now i know the technique called PEWGF. Thanks a lot for the video
For the record, the alternative method for PEWGF is transitioning from forward immediately into down, down forward and skipping the neutral gap. (Its mentioned very briefly in the video) To be fair I think many (including myself), just prefer reliably going straight into neutral and then down forward, but I still think the alternative method is worth learning since it is a skill you can transfer over and use when doing 3,1 DF (hold) cancels, which are imperative for combo extension and wall carry🤝 Great vid overall brother
Why does this feel so much easier than the regular ewgf on pad? I’m not perfect yet but 5 minutes practicing it and I’m hitting it way more often now. Thank you I never ever ever hit these before watching your videos 😂
It's just two inputs instead of three that make it a little easier especially on pad as you just tap forward then straight to downforward! Glad they helped!
I'm in the same boat lol. Learning this on pad, and having to teach myself again in how to execute, as for all the time I put into Tekken. I never really played the Mishima's, but Reina immediately had me ready to change that fact. Past couple days have just sat in practice mode throwing them out, and it does get better with time.
so i just discovered this just now on my stream. however. I still can't get the timing right when ever i want. but i really felt it when i did it 3 times in a row. it was like bring king for a day and then going back to being a peasant.
Another tip to help get this off: Go to practice mode -> Display Settings -> Opponent Frame Info -> "Simple Display" You want to execute the PEWGF motion just as the opponent turns "white", which is the same moment their knee touches the ground. I've hit PEWGF twice now within an hour and a half following this method. In terms of frame data, I executed the PEWGF motion ~35-36 frames after landing DF+2. So, 35-36 frames pass before the opponent's knee hits the ground. Once you get the timing down, I'd recommend turning the "Simple Display" off to better recognize the moment of execution.
Interesting thought, at 4:48 the game's input history shows that your PEWGF took 16f to pull off, 4 frames pressing forward, 1 in neutral +11 frames move itself, yet you managed to land it in the 13 frame window supposedly. What is at hand is the fact that there is a 3f window (I think), to buffer the forward input while you are in recovery/block animation.
I was holding forward for 4 frames but Kazuya was still recovering from the df+2 animation and then when he was recovered the game registered the last forward input of the PEWGF so it was done in 13 frames :)
@@Dianatrodaexactly my point, but then you realize that 4 frames is ~1/15 of a second, this stuff right here requires some intense and constant practice. I'm new to michimas, and I really struggle with playing Reina now, since a lot of her stuff can come out from CD, punishing even -17 moves with EWGF becomes nerve racking, but I still love the depth of these characters, there is so much to learn and master.
Newish to advance Tekken - isn't the counter next to your inputs the frames? Doesn't @1:06 show it took 6 frames (f, n) before the activating the 11 frames needed for EWGF totaling 17 frames? I've been stuck practicing PEWGF (jin) and can't get faster than punishing -15
is it, that you hold the fwd after the df2 connects, then release the fwd just after recovery that it has one frame of fwd for the input time? i find that fwd to neutral as fast as possible on stick is 3f at minimum( with a 2mm actuator and 4lb spring)?
somehow I spent hours of trying to EWGF and coudn't do it consistently, and realized it only came out when I just did the down forward input, and now I realize the existence of an PEWGF, I literally can't do the normal one, just the perfect version
I wouldn't be able to tell if it's easier but I did just use keyboard for the first time last week and I was able to do PEWGF relatively consistently so maybe would be the answer but I would need to use it a lot more
3:20 I tried doing it this way but I keep getting just df2 input. When I do the conventional way, I can get the WGF everytime but not the electric version.
Are you making sure to go back to neutral for the method at 3:20? You need to try hit the 2 a bit faster to get the electric version, try hitting it a little earlier than you usually would
@@Dianatrodait still doesn’t work. most of the time I just get fiendish claw (df2). And I still can’t get it to come out after a WS2 - trying it with Jin

is it possible to do the PEWGF using a playstation controller?? I grew up playing tekken games using the pad. but until now, i still find it difficult to execute the PEWGF on Kazuya
Seeing as Reina is the first mishima I'm picking up with the idea of maining, is there much point using EWGF when PEWGF is a frame faster? I'm nowhere near mastering either but im definitely curious if there's any situations where a regular EWGF is better than the perfect variant.
It would be good to be able to PEWGF with Reina but if you ever decide you want to try jin or devil jin then you'd have to learn the normal input for EWGF but if you don't ever plan on playing them I would say work away with PEWGF only for now!
Ohhh okay, yeah honestly I've been playing since T5 but never really messed with Mishima's before, and even now Devil Jin is cool but I'm not really interested in playing him but that's good to know thank you.
@Sheryuuuken ideally you need to hit df+2 in 1 frame but on the command history it might not say that as you could hold the buttons for a couple of frames after which is normal but the game would have taken the input on the first frame of df+2 if you get me?
ive been able to perform an PEGWF or so i believe since i hit a counter fd+2 and done a egwf right after with 5 frame on f, 1 frame on d, 9 frames on fd+2 and still got a high launcher
do you have tips for the timing ? Like looking at the right knee of the opponent while he is falling after df2 or looking at the cam ecc.. i can pewgf but its hard to do it after df2
Yeah I mentioned looking at the right knee near the end of the video. I just go solely based of timing from muscle memory from practice....its just extremely hard to do consistently!
I honestly don’t know if it’s my dpad that sucks right now but I can’t consistently get the wind step motion right. I keep pressing down forward but it keeps inputting it at forward only. So I’m getting frustrated with this Update:I mastered it
Sadly, both Jin and Devil Jin don't have a 13 frame electric, but Devil Jin can launch with counter hit while rising 3, which is +14, and also requires perfect input
Great vid. Just a question about the input with the PEWGF after the counter df2. i seem to be getting it correctly, however the actual launching aftter the PEWGF doesnt seem to go as 'high' so to speak? Just wondering if there is something that i am missing with the input as the lauching only seems to go 'halfway'.
@ruclips.net/user/edreth7424 After counter hit df+2 you have exactly 13 frames to input PEWGF so you have to start the input the minute kazuya has recovered from the df+2 animation along with that you have to input PEWGF perfectly which is also difficult! After counter hit df+2 your neutral should only be 1 frame, take a look at the command history in the video and see how my neutral is only 1 frame and take a look at your own when you do it in practice mode
does this only work for newer versions of the game? i do df+2 then pewgf in 13 frames but I get no launcher. Im using the version when the game came out
As far as I'm aware, mist step is fluff carried over from tekken 2 which enabled kaz to sidestep in a 'random' direction. Side step wasn't universal until tekken 3. The way i see it, mist step is just a "stance" that enables you to do crouch dash moves out it. In other words, it's just a 'shortcut' for your cd; this is why mist step allows you to do PEWGF. overall, the sidestep coming from the mist step doesn't really matter. But it would be interesting to see Dia do a video on debunking some myths about it. For example, the crouch cancel utility of mist step to allow you to do cd immediately moves out of crouch. And i've personally wondered if there is any evasion from mist-step.
@@Vivek-Goel_Superfan Is that so? I'm new to tekken but i haven't found mist step helpful in any way at all personally. i assumed it was useful for getting a sidestep into a crouch dash move but it doesn't really occur except when i'm just trying to step forward lol
@Countdownsmiles yes mist step was just fluff carried over from T2 as Vivek mentioned but its only use that it allows one to do EWGF one frame faster. But outside of it has no other uses really
is there ever a reason to use regular EWGF over perfect if you're playing Kazuya/Reina or should I just learn perfect? I've been learning regular EWGF this whole time not knowing about perfect.
If you are solely going to play kaz/reina then I'd learn PEWGF and be able to do it as fast as you can so you can get it in 13 frames! But the if you wanna play devil jin/jin you'll have to be able to electric the normal way to
I play leverless, having a hard time hitting this on P2 side can only get the standard ewgf coming out, P1 I am chaining it like nobody’s business though. Can’t seem to hit down forward with my ring and middle finger, gotta work on my finger dexterity.
@@Dianatroda I never grew up playing in arcades but I’ve been a lifelong PC gamer so it was fairly easy to pick up. Since leaving the comment I’ve already cleaned up my P2 side PEWGF. Hi! Just finished watching a bunch of your guides, great content btw! I noticed your Etokki stick and wanted to ask, what Korean lever and buttons do you use? Keep up the good work!
So devil jins electric wind god fist isnt perfect? Cause i just tested the ➡️*↘️ technique and it made it SO much easier hit the electric, so i assumed when you get electric that was the pewgf
from neutral yeah, 1 frame for forward, 1 frame for neutral and 1 frame for df+2. The one I done showing the input were for demonstration purposes only. PEWGFs were done at the end of the video with ch df+2 launch. At 4:48 you can see I land PEWGF at ch df+2 and I hold the forward for 3 frames but only the last one registers for the PEWGF as Kaz hasnt recovered from the animation yet, then the neutral held for one as it should be and the the df+2 registers at the correct frame for one but I hold it for an additional 7 frames after the input which is why it reads 8.
I find Reina's HW1 to PEWGF extremely difficult than Kazuya's d/f+2 PEWGF., due to how her HW1 will transition to sentai once you tap f making it an indicator that your timing is off.
Everybody has a PEWGF now. ... Well, except Jin. He can get rekt. Also you can do a PEWGF by doing a perfect Dragon Punch (f,d,d/f) motion. Both are valid.
So i need some advice. As someone learning Kazuyaand Reina after only playing King in T8 and Marduk and AK in 7. How should I pratice and time electrics and eventually Perfects eventually because i have only been just the regular non electrics. I know my timing is off but some tips I would appreciate. Thank you
If you're just hitting wgf now, try doing regular electrics first. Your main priority is getting used to the df+2 justframe. Your hand works differently from mine, so just focus on hitting the just frame in a way that is consistent for you. Get comfortable doing ewgf 80-90% accuracy before moving on. You wouldn't be executing anything absolutely new for pewgf--just learning new timing. Check @2:30 minutes into the video. The command history on the left side of the screen show the frames that pass before the next input. Try your best to emulate that timing with the mechanics that work best for you. Not the original poster of the video, but I hope this can present you with some reasonable measures of progression.
@@Vivek-Goel_Superfan Thank you but yes I wanna get consistent with electrics first. PEWGF is later down the line. I just wanna get the basics and important stuff. I have most of it practiced well. Wavu wavu has not been difficult for me since I played AK.
Any additional tips for someone who is comfortable with EWGF but can’t seem to get the timing I either get DF2 or just a EWGF feel like I can’t take my kaz to the next level without it
@Shaungotjokes the only visual que is the one I mentioned in the video is immediately when the opponents knee hits the floor you input the PEWGF, it's very hard to do so it will take a good bit of practice!
Pewgf is 1 frame forward, 1 frame neutral, one frame downforward+2. Doing it any slower no matter what input method you use is not perfect because its not within 13 frames. Pewgf is 3 just inputs (frame perfect) in a row with no delay. If you can electric after df2 counter hit is is perfect. If not its too slow.
So is PEWGF different from EWGF? Does EWGF have more of a distance advantage then PEWGF? Or are they both the same no matter what? Cause PEWGF is easier for me then using the down movement.
The vest way in my opinion is using ch df+2 just make sure to have command history and you are getting the correct input and doing it as fast as you can! Need to make sure you are getting it in 13 frames!
I swear hitting PEWGF is the equivalent of hitting a black flash multiple times in JJK

The inputs are just like Hei’s omen thunder god fist right? F, N, DF+1. Cause I got pretty consistent with doing that but I’m struggling with PEWGF
Yep the input is the exact same input has Hei's OTGF! Are you struggling with getting the electric part of it?
So is it down forward 2x ??? I can do the normal one easy but manually I can’t
is it possible to do the PEWGF using a playstation controller?? I grew up playing tekken games using the pad. but until now, i still find it difficult to execute the PEWGF on Kazuya
A "How to DORYAH" guide???!?!?!?!
Devil Jin ch ws3 also gives enough frames for an electric, but it adds scaling despite giving a full electric launch
Yep not as strong but still cool to have something similar!
you got a sub buddy
For the combo df2,fdf2 need to put in in 1 fram after f ??
The neutral after the forward needs to be 1 frame yes!
@@Dianatroda ok not the down forwad after the neutral ??
Realy good video by the way
@Sheryuuuken ideally you need to hit df+2 in 1 frame but on the command history it might not say that as you could hold the buttons for a couple of frames after which is normal but the game would have taken the input on the first frame of df+2 if you get me?
@@Dianatroda ooooow wtf 😂😂 i’ll master it
Thx for all :D
ive been able to perform an PEGWF or so i believe since i hit a counter fd+2 and done a egwf right after with 5 frame on f, 1 frame on d, 9 frames on fd+2 and still got a high launcher
do you have tips for the timing ? Like looking at the right knee of the opponent while he is falling after df2 or looking at the cam ecc.. i can pewgf but its hard to do it after df2
Yeah I mentioned looking at the right knee near the end of the video. I just go solely based of timing from muscle memory from practice....its just extremely hard to do consistently!
On pad, I found it very easy to perform if I bound 2+3 to LB. Inputting it all with one hand made it much easier and consistent for me.
Good to hear!
It doesn’t work anymore on pad sadly :( you’ll always get a throw
@@VanceWeebin No that isn't true at all. 2+3 still works, or just bind it to 2...
@@thepunisherxxx6804 idk man I do 2+3 and a throw always comes out. And I wouldn’t bind my 2 as that would be uncomfortable in normal play
@@thepunisherxxx6804 nah it’s definitely true I just tested I could take video and picture proof. That only worked in t7
I honestly don’t know if it’s my dpad that sucks right now but I can’t consistently get the wind step motion right. I keep pressing down forward but it keeps inputting it at forward only. So I’m getting frustrated with this
Update:I mastered it
Does it work for Devil Jin?
I assume this concept works for Jins wind hook?
No cuz jin does not have 13 frame electric.
Sadly, both Jin and Devil Jin don't have a 13 frame electric, but Devil Jin can launch with counter hit while rising 3, which is +14, and also requires perfect input
Nope it doesn't work for jin or dvj
Sooo it only works on counter hit?
How did you get you etokki to work on ps5? Mine cuts off.
You can practice it by punishing Kaz f3(-13) to make sure you’re doing the pewgf
@@hsy2030 yep good example!
How come whenever i play reina a normal df2 comes up
does this only work for newer versions of the game? i do df+2 then pewgf in 13 frames but I get no launcher. Im using the version when the game came out
How do you do those demon god fist without crouching ? You do it so quick
You got this out quick lol i'm curious why mist step is necessary for the tech when kazuya seems to perform the pewgf before sidestepping
@@Dianatroda Wack lol. Well thanks for the explanation
tekken 8 is my first real tekken game and this motion is killer lol
i can do the god step pretty easily but the next execution is killing me
Keep practicing and you'll eventually get it
Try different timings for hitting the 2 and df together
Is it possible to do it too fast , not get it to come out? 2frames forward, 1 neutral , 6 down forward +2 and I’m actual doing his abolishing fist .
This is awesome
Hello, i wanna ask if it is better to use Arrow Keys on ps 5 pad than analog stick?
is there ever a reason to use regular EWGF over perfect if you're playing Kazuya/Reina or should I just learn perfect? I've been learning regular EWGF this whole time not knowing about perfect.
If you are solely going to play kaz/reina then I'd learn PEWGF and be able to do it as fast as you can so you can get it in 13 frames!
But the if you wanna play devil jin/jin you'll have to be able to electric the normal way to
You want to know how to do both because regular electric is prolly easier to do from movement and dashes
I play leverless, having a hard time hitting this on P2 side can only get the standard ewgf coming out, P1 I am chaining it like nobody’s business though. Can’t seem to hit down forward with my ring and middle finger, gotta work on my finger dexterity.
Very interested to try leverless but just turned off by the learning curve 😅
@@Dianatroda I never grew up playing in arcades but I’ve been a lifelong PC gamer so it was fairly easy to pick up. Since leaving the comment I’ve already cleaned up my P2 side PEWGF. Using it to punish in a match is another story. If you’re interested check out Haute42, really high quality controllers at super affordable pricing.
Hi! Just finished watching a bunch of your guides, great content btw! I noticed your Etokki stick and wanted to ask, what Korean lever and buttons do you use? Keep up the good work!
@Thanks for watching! I use everything that came with the omni so it's a myoungshin Fanta stick and sanwa buttons
Thanks for the guides. What type of tension grommet do you use? I’m assuming that’s the default Korean lever that comes in the etokki.
Yes it's the myoungshin Fanta and it was the one that came with the etokki omni
Did any pro player punish -13 move with PEWGF in tournament?
how do you skip the neutral?no matter what i do it still register as down forward
don't skip the neutral. input f, n, df2
So devil jins electric wind god fist isnt perfect? Cause i just tested the ➡️*↘️ technique and it made it SO much easier hit the electric, so i assumed when you get electric that was the pewgf
A perfect one just means u do an electric as fast as possible, dvj only now after the heihachi update can do it
@@balladin9200 good to know 👍
Is this the same concept for Jin's PEWHF?
Do the numbers in the command list have to be 1,1,1 next to the inputs for it to be a 13frame
from neutral yeah, 1 frame for forward, 1 frame for neutral and 1 frame for df+2.
Thank you 🙏 ❤❤
Looks hard, Ty
Wait, so I've been doing PEWGF with Reina all this time? That explains why it didn't work out with Devil Jin lol
I find Reina's HW1 to PEWGF extremely difficult than Kazuya's d/f+2 PEWGF., due to how her HW1 will transition to sentai once you tap f making it an indicator that your timing is off.
I also found it very hard but I am used to kazuyas timing off ch df+2 a lot more than reinas HW1
Forget this I’m going back to king
😂
Everybody has a PEWGF now.
...
Well, except Jin. He can get rekt.
Also you can do a PEWGF by doing a perfect Dragon Punch (f,d,d/f) motion. Both are valid.
Since i switched to hitbox, wavedashing and perfects seem much more difficult. I dunno what im missing
Wavu wavu has not been difficult for me since I played AK.
so u can just press down forward together instead of down in to down forward??
Yes with kaz and reina
@@Dianatroda sick! Thx
I've practicing it for a month
But it didn't work out
Plz tell me how to do pewgf after counter df2
It took me a long time to get it but I will make another video on tips to practice it soon!
Any additional tips for someone who is comfortable with EWGF but can’t seem to get the timing I either get DF2 or just a EWGF feel like I can’t take my kaz to the next level without it
@ruclips.net/user/ShaungotjokesAre you referring to just the PEWGF itself or getting PEWGF after counter hit df+2?
The Pewgf outta df2 like is there any visual que that you use to hit it or is it strictly down to timing ?
PEWGF is 1 frame faster than EWGF if you do a perfect input! And you only hit f,n,df+2 for PEWGF and EWGF is f,n,d,df+2
➡️⭐️⬇️↘️👊🏼, “DORYA!”
Is there a way where i could train or see how close i was to hit the pewgf after df2. Just cant get the Timing down
The vest way in my opinion is using ch df+2 just make sure to have command history and you are getting the correct input and doing it as fast as you can! Need to make sure you are getting it in 13 frames!
