I had the privilege to spend a couple of hours in Ted's company in late 1991.
At the end of a 4 month trip across the states, I stopped at Venice beach for a couple of days. One morning walking the boardwalk I heard a voice, I immediately knew who it was as I was already a big fan, and had a couple of his albums back home in England.
I spent the next 2 hours sitting next to him and chatting between songs.
He was a genial guy with an amazing voice.
Sam Cook became Ted?
Ted Hawkins has the most EXTRAORDINARY voice I ever heard, and this album is a beauty !!!!!!
I used to have my son who is now 33 on my shoulder s singing way up north when he was a kid great days thanks to Ted Hawkins a legend
Who in god’s name gave this a thumbs down!!
Loved this album from first time I heard it.
Nuff said.
Somebody that's got no idea of raw talent
Who cares? I'm not listening for them.
One of his stretches in jail was for “child molestation”? I saw him live in Glasgow in mid eighties He told me he was not a fan of Prince.
@@martingemmell1401 I am SHOCKED that anyone could dislike Prince. Also perturbed that he could be the other thing you said.
@@martingemmell1401 not a fan of Prince either
Lotta Soul emanating from this Man. Reminds me a bit of Sam Cooke
Keep comin' back to this. Beautiful. Thanks for posting
Came back today after 15-20 years. Really good music lodges and wants to resurface eventually
This beautiful album of his is currently not on Spotify. It's such a special sound and I prefer several of these versions. There Stands a Glass and Ladder of Success... Blow me away!!!
Met Ted on London Bridge station many moons ago.....What a Luvly Guy.
Beautiful! First saw him late 80s supporting Billy Bragg, then many times in his own right after that. He had the most incredible voice and listening to him now takes me back to that time. Thank you for uploading - can never tire of listening to Ted!

@@johngallacher4520 Thank you for admiring my daddy👍
@@love2all837 Ted Hawkins was brilliant and a legend to me. You must have been so happy and proud to have Ted as your daddy. I saw him in Glasgow and was amazed by his voice A lovely man who could play that guitar and sing. A concert I will never forget. THANKS
Some things aren't the perfection we think is needed. Instead they are rough at the edges but just magical. And so it is with the first track here. Play it when you can sit back and close your eyes. Pure magic.
Great album thanks for sharing ❤
Cheers! Used to have this on cassette! Xxxxxxxx

Saw him perform at The Shaw Theatre London, with him wearing his trade-mark black leather glove and a glass of water on a table by his side. Thanks to Radio DJ Andy for introducing him to me and others.
Still got this on vinyl.
with his voice , my garden brick wall just blasted down.. then with his melody - the bricks floated back up, arranging themselves in a beautiful pattern
Are you: English and on lysergic?
It could have the Bloombsberry Theatre not Shaw theatre. very pleased to have seen him anyway. I think he also gave a name check to Andy Kershaw. BBC -bring Andy back!!!!
Good!
Thank you for streaming this..... I found out about Ted in early 2000s and always wanted to see him live but of course life gets in the way of that & you make excuses not go do all the things that matter.... We all do it.... but its too late after they are gone but with him we have THIS... is it on a 45 record?
So glad I'm a country boy.
Back in the day Tower Records had listening stations in the store where you could sample new releases. This is where I discovered Ted (The Next 100 Years) and others. I thought of him as a tragic figure, dyeing just as he was getting some major label success, so I'm happy to find that he had a loyal fan base going back into "the previous 100 years."
