8-9 out of 10, which is the most common score, with 9 being more common than 8, is not “mixed reviews.” That’s overwhelmingly positive reviews, just not 100% universal acclaim. I know review scores are often a bit inflated, but come on, man. If it’s average was 6/10, THAT would be mixed reviews. Over 90% of critics gave it a positive review. Not a single critic gave it a negative review, only a tiny minority gave it mixed. Gamers are crazy. That’s not what those words mean. 9/10 is not “mixed.”

It’s that classic baffling quirk of “7 = average” that a lot of game reviewers seemed to have
RUclips needs to add a button that can blank out the video while still listening to the audio.
If you have an iphone with headphones or speakers you can swipe up while video is playing then turn off screen and unpause headphones or speakers. Or pay for premium account

man playstation can't release 3 games a year and nintendo drops 3 in 2 months
PlayStation released Stellar Blade, Astro Bot, Rise of the Ronin, and Helldivers 2, Concord, and The Last of Us Part II Remastered this year. And they still have Until Dawn Remake, Lego Horizon Adventure, and Horizon remastered releasing this year.

Why take shots at PlayStation? I have a 4090 PC, PS5, and Switch. Love them all and if anything I use the PC the least 😂

Yeah but that drags it down a lot. By the second dungeon, I'd say that half my playtime has been fiddling around in menus finding the right echo.
This desperately needs equippable favourites, like just let me equip echoes to an item slot/button like in previous 2D Zelda's and that fixes most of the issues.
But it takes botw/totk menuing to the extreme
Menu issue is not insignificant when it’s a major thing you’ll be interacting with because of the echo system.
The echo system itself also has some flaws that bog the game down a bit too honestly.

No koroks no buy…jk. I’m so glad I don’t have to hunt hundreds Korok seeds. Maybe Nintendo could add a bonus reward in this game for the people that found all the seeds in the last two games.

I loved even BOTW's divine beasts, i will play this for so long.
Honestly I didn’t mind them either. They’re great features, just not dungeons, the only thing they have in common with dungeons is the role they serve story wise.

It's a perfect day to relase a game from Nintendo in september 26 literally 2 days before my birthday september 28, there's coming Nintendo Switch Lite Hyrule Edition too, i'm so EXCITED and can't wait tomorrow going to buy this game after the workday as a BIG Zelda fan who LOVE a 2D Zelda games more like Link's Awakening I know my score is easily a 10/10 BEST game without even playing so The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom is looking AMAZING: This is Zelda game where you play as Princess Zelda herself and it's still not The Legend of Link Well EXCEUSE ME Princess! 😂😢

Those are two of the best games of all time let alone zelda games. So not surprising? We knew ahead of time the menu was bad but they didn't seem to fix that.
Scores don't really matter on the longrun.

to be fair, they overloaded a lot on the quantity of available options in the BotW on era. I think they need to relearn the lesson that "sometimes less is more."

You’re cherry-picking a bit here. An average of almost 9/10 is not mixed reviews, it’s positive reviews. Mixed reviews is when it’s like 5 or 6 out of 10.
It's a zelda game and many expected this to be the 2D Totk they were actually waiting for, but with real dungeons. So, only slightly above 85 seems a bit underwhelming.

The thing is yes FPS do are bad but if you forget about it and inmerse in the game it is totally enjoyable, and the map isn't that big, not feels that way, dungeons, they are good, but no real challenge

GAMEPLAY SPOILER ALERT: Can confirm, I've breezed through about 1/4 or more of the map. Completed two dungeons. Have spent about 5 hours so far. It definitely feels easier in terms of how simple the dungeons are. Using the echoes really shows you down. In my opinion, that's what takes a lot of the time. If you could hack and slash your way, the dungeons would be very quick. I'm still enjoying it and finding it addictive though. It feels a bit weaker than other top-down editions, but it's also quite a refreshing way to play. It's a very different game. That's not necessarily a bad thing either. Remember, BOTW was also quite a different experience. I feel like that was created towards hardcore gamers, whereas this is more accessible for casual gamers. Dare I say they've made a conscious effort to open up the game to the female audience. For what it is though, I'm enjoying it so far
My thoughts:
* Sounds like you can play the game in a variety of ways, and the reviewer at Eurogamer decided to kinda just brute force it.
* Nintendo needs to get rid of that eternally scrolling list. I don't understand their obsession with it. At the very least it should be a 2D grid, which would be 10 times better.
* Sounds like the the game should be capped at 30 fps. I'd rather have a steady 30 fps than to be fluctuating between 30 and 60.
* I look forward to playing it late tonight! Or at least starting it. Sounds like a game I'd really enjoy.

Now I know that Zelda transforms into a sword fighter in the game but in the game Princess Peach Showtime Peach also transforms into a sword figher. So there's one thing the two princesses have in comon. They both transform into sword fighers.
As a new gamer I appreciate that the dungeons and puzzles are manageable, at least for the first parts.
Based on this economy. Im waiting for BJs, Sams Club, Costco, etc. or Black Friday to sell it at a lower price.
*For those of you doubtful of getting mainstream games at a lower price at listed stores above. I got Mario Wonder back in March for 39.99 at BJs*

I’m at a stage in my adult life where I don’t have a ton of time to play games and a lot of the games I pick up o don’t end up finishing, so I can really only afford to start one or 2 big new games each year. I was considering picking this up, but honestly I’m not sure it looks like the kind of game where I’d have so much fun I can’t stop thinking about it while I’m at work, so I’m gonna have to pass for now. Maybe someday when I have more time it’ll be a game I go back and pick up.
