Yes I found a piece of labradorite right that showed purple on one end and the rest of the stone was a greenish, blue. I had it made into a oval cabachon into a mood ring...It's beautiful !
Really a nice, informative video, Brent. When I first saw that rough, I cringed... thinking the inclusions would really hamper your cut. However, your careful examination and a great job of cutting/preforming worked very well. That stone really sparkles, much more than I expected with such a low R.I. Your video revealed a lot of "tricks" that new faceters can use forever. Thanks for another great video, my friend.
I've really been enjoying your channel! I have a question...when you rounded the stone in the first step, how did you keep it perfectly rounded? I see that the dop angle is maintained, but even the slightest warp in the spinning lap would make it off-round? Do you just eye it up? Measure with calipers? Thank you!
I believe stuller and rio grande both offer training but im not sure of your location so it might not be feasible. . Look here for more info. www.riogrande.com and www.stuller.com. Those would be for setting gemstones and jewelry making. For learning to cut gemstones: There is the www.facetingacademy.com, and www.lapidaryschool.org.
That is a great chart, i received it from another faceter and i dont think its available anywhere on the web , but i think i can send you one by email. send me an email , look at the bottom of the video description for my contact email.

Hello, and thanks for watching. I dont need to measure it, i just use the sound of the cutting action and watch the gauge also.
@@tennpikr74 That's pretty amazing since you are rolling it on the lap by hand.
I'm looking for places where I can learn how to cut and set gemstones but I haven't found many, any you would recommend?
