  • We go through the two AK foil board ranges. Constructions, model changes, sizes, sweet spots and strengths - we've ridden it all and go through it all.

    Great reviews! At 85KG, I own the V1 74L Comact and the 66L Phazer. I have the 46L Compact on order. The worst part about these boards is deciding which I want to ride for the day. For me, the biggest deciding factor is how much shore pound I will be encountering. If there is a chance the board will roll in 4 foot of shore break, the Compact comes out. If wind is above 9k, then I will probably go with the Phazer if shore break isn't terrible. There is really never a wrong answer.
    You may be one of the 1st to really voice how mindless these boards fly. I think both are ultra intuitive when paired with the Plasma foil. I can resign most functions to the subconscious mind and hit flow state, even in the most chaotic conditions. Something about the way these ride. That foil just wants to fly right below the surface at the most efficient spot. If it breaches for a second, you hear the water gulp and then it rights itself. I have never experienced that with any other setup. 🤙

      Thanks for the kind words, yup they are great boards indeed - you are right about those plasmas, they are the only foils that I have breached and then had them reattach before you hit the deck! I've found myself wondering "how the hell I got away with that??" more than a few times, haha

    Do you think it is worth upgrading from v1 compact (85l) to v2?

    • @ktwo-surf
      @ktwo-surf  Год назад

      Thy are a bit narrower and they do take off earlier. It's not a massive difference though - if you did not try a v2, life with the v1 would be very sweet. Depends what appetite you have to scratch that itch!

    What foils have you been running on them? Any experience running them with f-one foils?

    • @ktwo-surf
      @ktwo-surf  Год назад

      sadly not a great deal of experience with f-one. We use shinn foils a lot and of course AK. The F-one will fit - and you can use shims to alter the angle if needed - but most manufacturers have settled on an optimum 90 degree angle off the board.. with exceptions for certain styles.

      I have pair ak compact 74L with fone sk8 1050 and 850 and it works great no any issues
      Now i order compact 58
      So far the best board i ever try
      I have sold my slingshot wingcraft v2 60L and 70L
      And i will stick with compact 58L with sk8 850
      One board one foil all wind conditions
      Me 76kg wing fone strike v2 5.5m

    Does it fit well with axis foils, or will I need to get a shim set?

    • @ktwo-surf
      @ktwo-surf  11 месяцев назад

      you should not need a ship - all boards are set up with 90 degree angle, same as AK, so the same rules apply. You can shim it is you want but the same pitfalls and caveats apply.
