Every AFI album is different.. Theyre such a diverse group. Been a major fan of theirs since the 90's, well before they got popular. Back when my friends and I were just punk kids. They've always been a huge part of my life and I can honestly say, not a single album has dissapointed me. I dont think they know how to make a bad song because I've literally yet to hear an AFI song I didnt like. Sing the Sorrow will always be my favorite but I love every album from answer that and stay fashionable right up to this. Even Blaqk Audio kicks ass. I never complain about them changing their sound because thats who they are and its what makes them so great. Theyre constantly growing and theyve always been able to capture that and present it beautifully through their music. They are true inspirations, not just as artists, but as people as well. By far my favorite band of all time.
Every AFI album is different. They have definitely evolved over time. They have put out so much music and stayed true to the craft. My favorite music is their early stuff, but I appreciate that they still make and put out music and continue to evolve as people and musicians. You cannot really put them in a box. They've inspired a ton of bands and have left a lasting impact on the scene and world as a whole.
Yet ANOTHER gorgeous offering from the ALWAYS incredible AFI. Their sound is one of the most beautiful and unique on earth....🌎 I sincerely thank Davey, Jade, Hunter and Adam as it is a privilege being able listen to their breathtaking music the four of you give us; music that seemingly originates from the heavens above!!!🌙💙💫
The first song I heard by this band was I Wanna Get a Mohawk. Loved ATASF, loved every album since then. These guys are my favorite band and I love how they've evolved over the years. I hope they never stop making music!
I love you. Thanks for NOT staying the same and for always reaching higher. Been a fan since I was a kid. Thanks for growing and always evolving with me. I never know what to expect with each album but I am always in love with your creative genius! This video was a breath of fresh air! Something different.
[Verse 1] Am I coy enough? Not boy enough? You wanted me in this dress Or nothing else you say I am I am not scared enough, prepared enough You wanted me in distress I've nothing left to fear I am, I am here [Chorus] I'll wait for you another night (As you like) Dressed in Himalayan white I'll wait for you some other night (Dressed as you like) Dressed in Himalayan white [Verse 2] Am I loud too much, and proud too much? You wanted me in this stance Or on my back, you said I am I am not red enough, in bed enough I've given up on romance I've nothing left for love I am, I am here [Chorus] I'll wait for you another night (As you like) Dressed in Himalayan white I'll wait for you some other night (Dressed as you like) Dressed in Himalayan white [Bridge] Who's to say when the cats are away? What they say, what they say We won't come back Who's to say when the cats are away? We won't come back What they say, what they say We won't come back Who's to say when we cats are away? We won't come back What we say, what I say I won't stay [Chorus] I'll wait for you some other night (Dressed as you like) Dressed in Himalayan white I'll wait for you some other night (As you like) Dressed in Himalayan white I'll wait for you I'll wait for you (As you like) Dressed in Himalayan white
Grew up with these guys in my teens. This is classical music for my generation. Sing the sorrow was big for some really dark times in my angsty years. funny how I'm back there now. much Love.
-knowing- this song holds so much meaning and relevance. I've always loved not just the sound but the deep emotion Davey's singing brings forth. thank you guys all of you be blessed :) -J-
The music video is so fucking stupid I love it! All these weird 80's style effects. To it a degree it did look like they were having fun while making it. Definitely something I haven't seen them do before and I'm excited for the album!
I've always loved daveys lyrics he has a great voice this is no different great song and a great return for the band hopefully they will have vegas on the map when they start touring
Remember them from miss Murder and love like winter days... damn I was 12-13 years old then.. just felt a need to check up and listen to recent music from AFI. I'm 22 now. I wish things were still so simple like they used to be.
Ok so I know we all miss the old AFI, I miss sing the sorrow as much as anyone else, but tbh I'm really digging this. Seriously, the talent of this band will never fail to amaze me. The changes in genre this band has gone through while keeping the same lineup since Black Sails basically is incredible. But somehow their progression through it was smooth and they still managed to make amazing songs on each new record. Props to them for still being able to be amazing at any style they've attempted.
I've loved them for 17 years, which was during the STS era, but I've also heard pre-STS many times and adore every album they've ever made all the same. Their sound evolves, but they always sound like the AFI I know and love.
They don't sound anything like the band I listened to in High School, They are a completely different band now - Black Sails in The Sunset, Art of Drowning and All hallows Ep (and even the 3 albums before that) - That was the AFI I knew in HS, I suggest you check out any of the above if you want the real AFI experience....
2:07 he looses his hand in the guitar. I love this song. People whining that hey have changed and all that... well get over it people change and most important they grow up.
Oh, also ... I just woke from sleeping, and my dream featured each member of this band as a sort of cosmic archetype in another realm within, yet sub-terranian to our own. My recollection grows spottier by the second, so forgive how disjointed this is. It was an odd mix of thematic tropes, with simultaneous timelines (a la, Cryptonomicon ... Thanks again, Jade, for having introduced me to storytelling as sublime as your own songwriting.), atmospheric settings that felt like Anne Rice spent a day in the effects studio for Harry Potter, and a Neverending Story kind of main plot, with a small group of protagonists puzzling their way through a series of otherworldly trials and mishaps. I can't focus my mind on much more than a few scant fragments, but here's a few that seemed especially odd. Jades guitar, in the "real life" side of things anyway, had no strings. Like it was a practice instrument to keep a noisesome child from expressing the obstreperous cacophony within. However, when played, it had vast and sometimes catastrophic effects in the alter-world. One particularly suspenseful scene involved a couple of real world side characters taking out the car it had been in, and as these rather detestable people sped through the streets, the silent guitar suffered jolt after jolt in the cargo area, with dramatic results, invisible to the initiators. Each band member had unique relationships with various elements of the puzzle surrounding the characters. Jades guitar altered the configuration of a vast network of gates, Davey controlled the weather, Hunter the lighting, and each piece of Adams drum set was connected to another subgenre of demigods unto their own. Each character interacting with the beautiful, ancient, and sometimes monstrous elements of the alter-world chose willingly to be there, and each had unique goals. The logistics are incomprehensible to me now. Somehow, these individuals existed in both worlds, yet in the process of travelling between them, they weren't granted any power super-er than their own minds. This bizarre dream is only one gift of many I cherish. Thank you, AFI, for continuing to grow, and offering me so much over the years.
This song is so underrated.

I think I am leaning in that direction too after 20 years

AFI has always been balls-to-the-wall, and this is no exception. Great artists then and great artists now. Pure bliss
I love you. Thanks for NOT staying the same and for always reaching higher. Been a fan since I was a kid. Thanks for growing and always evolving with me. My personal favorite song by Afi
I'm glad that music like this, has never died yet
The best
You can see how much Davey wants to jump while singing this, yet the way he expresses himself this time is what makes this video so engaging.
I love Davey Havok no matter what Davey Havok is, he's a Magician! 🤗
i love his voice
[Verse 1]
Am I coy enough? Not boy enough?
You wanted me in this dress

[Verse 2]
Am I loud too much, and proud too much?
You wanted me in this stance
Or on my back, you said I am
I am not red enough, in bed enough
I've given up on romance
I've nothing left for love
I am, I am here
[Chorus]
I'll wait for you another night

Dressed in Himalayan white
I'll wait for you some other night

[Bridge]
Who's to say when the cats are away?
What they say, what they say
We won't come back
Who's to say when the cats are away?
We won't come back
What they say, what they say
We won't come back
Who's to say when we cats are away?
We won't come back
What we say, what I say
I won't stay

mentalguy316 those are the keywords. You said it.
"80s style effects"...
It obviously has a reference to the style of music videos in the 80s.
AFI choruses have always been on point, from the early 90s to now.

Remember them from miss Murder and love like winter days... damn I was 12-13 years old then.. just felt a need to check up and listen to recent music from AFI. I'm 22 now. I wish things were still so simple like they used to be.
