Pure Imagination

Pure Imagination-Song Number 12 From My Living Room. I have always loved this song written for Gene Wilder for Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse. As a side note the Daddy Long Legs piece you see behind the piano was the original art work that went up in front of the camera for the opening titles of that film with Fred Astaire and Leslie Caron. I'll save my Johnny Mercer Medley for another day.

Beautiful -- you capture what's wonderful about the song as written as well as the crucial additions from Walter Scharf's original arrangement. I read in a book about the making of the film that the songs were prerecorded first to a piano arrangement and the orchestra dubbed in later... what I wouldn't give to hear those original piano tracks!
