Honestly Seiko should just make the SJE093 without the lume pip at 3, and give it a good bracelet and a good clasp. Regulate the movement to be a little tighter tolerances. And just make it a regular production model. I would buy it! I missed out on the limited edition and the SLA017, and I fundamentally just don’t like buying a limited edition watch because getting parts replaced/repaired for it will be super difficult down the line. And it doesn’t have a bracelet. Something Seiko and GS rely on too much is limited editions instead of actually improving their products. They fail to realise that there are people out there that want to save up and anticipate buying a watch. They want to be able to try it on before they buy it! That would be a much better experience, rather than brands just banking on FOMO and hoping people will just buy things blind.
@@JustBlueFish agreed. It’s really sad. People hate on Rolex but at least they’ve slowly iterated and made their watches better. Great bracelets and clasps, thin and reliable and accurate movements. Etc etc. Seiko keep doing half ass jobs at reinterpreting the same designs without actually improving anything. Or they just keep releasing “new” nature inspired dials and hoping it’ll get a quick FOMO sale.

I subscribed as soon as as you mentioned you think the dw5600 beats almost every watch ever made. I have two, one that I wear to work everyday and I work in construction so it’s taken a hammering over the 10 plus years I’ve had it but it just keeps on going. The other is a 90s original screw back with a light bulb inside instead of the illuminator. I don’t wear it much but it’s just nice to have the screw back.
Seiko could have been competing with Rolex and Omega? What are you smoking because I'd definitely like try some? It's embarrassing how they've pitched themselves against Hamilton and Tissot and are massively behind those brands in regards to materials used, quality, finishing and QC.
I’m down for a longer format video if you keep this vibe up. I listen at work and could easily go for a one hour video from someone interesting talking watches.

Yeah that's the format of my weekly Sunday videos, in case that wasn't obvious to you. It's a video about connecting with viewers, answering their questions, and covering a lot of topics.
I couldn't agree more about the 62mas. Such a classic and awesome design. Prbly SEIKO isn't willing to take it up a notch and compete with ROLEX OMEGA and co because.. it would be competing with their own GRAND SEIKO stuff? bad move nonetheless
Love my Seiko PADI turtle. The sunburst blue really pops in the sun. Feel like 2011-2021 was a real sweet spot for Seiko when it comes to affordable spec monsters. Love your channel, both longform and short!!!
yeah they made some real awesome stuff in that time range. Maybe not even through 2020 actually. They started pushing up their prices and pushing their product range up market by 2018-2019.
I did that on my g square. Super unsecure. The spring bars and adapters kept failing. Almost lost my g shock. Never again. Went back to the oem resin strap
Also, I think RUclips algorithms dont like you. You should have at least 100,000 subs.HMMM. I think they want RUclipsrs to put out more content and goofy thumbnails. The blue fishers need to share and like every time.
Guy, I remember some of those longer videos. I think I found your channel when you compared a fake Rolex Hulk to the Genuine just to see how close it was. I also remember when you started your Facebook group. What I like about your videos is your honesty. I would not pay 2000 dollars for any Gshock but I do love them and have about 8 of them ranging from 50 dollars to a little over 200 so they are all resin or rubber or whatever they use. I don't bother with Seiko anymore. I used to love the brand several years ago but most of what I see I think are overpriced by a lot. I remember when you could get a real SXK for 169.00. I also remember you could get many of their watches under 100.00 for the Seiko 5 models. I forgot to mention on your give away to keep your Submariner. You just never know when you may need emergency money and it is very easy to sell.
Thanks for the message Scott. WOW you saw that fake vs real Rolex video? I deleted that a while back because RUclips was banning people who had fake watches in videos. Even though they weren’t actively promoting them. I didn’t think it was worth the risk to leave the video up. But it did get over 1 million views before I deleted it.
just some honest feedback. i think the videos need to be a little more upbeat/fast paced with more cuts of different shots. many cut in shots of other scenes that corelate to what youre saying from shows, movies, other yt vids, memes, and maybe some music. the new set is a great modern update. i know it's a lot of work but as a yt fanatic, i noticed most of my favorite channels have similar formats. either way ive been subscribed and wish you the best and thank you for the content.
I tend to agree with some parts of your take on the 62MAS, but really, disagree as well. I do think they should have one main watch that brings the heat. Compeat against Tudor and Rolex? Might be optimistic, though. Otherwise, I think the new MarineMasters click most if not all your boxes. My SLA043 mostly falls down by being a limited edition and not having a bracelet. But, really, shouldn't those be criteria for a Grand Seiko?
What criteria should be for Grand Seiko? You mean the features I mentioned that I'd like out of a 62MAS? No I think Seiko can have a high end luxury diver at the top of its range. And I think that makes more sense than Grand Seiko because Seiko can still make tool watches, Grand Seiko doesn't really they make more fancy/refined watches generally. And the 62MAS isn't really that kind of watch.
I own the SLA037 and it’s a great looking watch, just wish they could have regulated it, it’s about 10 seconds fast a day. I’m a little hesitant to have someone mess with it, and also i will have to pay for something i shouldn’t have to on a $6300 watch.
Yeah the unregulated movements are a let down but I wish I had picked up the SLA037 when its as released, that's the one that came on the strap + had a bracelet right?
Good to see you back Guy. I hope your well being journey is rewarding. Working on the same issues for myself. I prefer the tighter, shorter format. I don’t have attention span for the hour plus format and the rambling is distracting.
$600 for a current production 62MAS? Sure I'd love that, but I don't see that ever happening. Plus if it was that inexpensive it would have one of their garbage entry level watch movements in it and that would be less than ideal.
I love watches, music and guitars. I’ve built guitars when I graduated high school for PRS guitars for a couple of years. Keep up the great work Guy can’t wait for the next review.
