I want to write a quick caveat here in that when I looked back on my footage I realised I should've documented more of my time with Chris. Turns out I was just having too much fun. I forgot how nice it is to have someone to chat with whilst you work!

First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANE! You have raised an amazing young man. Max is blessed to have great parents. Max you are doing a wonderful job on the van, and we all, but mostly you will be glad when you have Occy back, it’s like a part of you is missing. It’s also wonderful that you are blessed with Judy, she offers such positive encouragement. Your van is looking so good and I know that you are anxious to have it complete. But, we are all here and will be anxiously awaiting each and every video. Don’t put yourself on a schedule, it gets done when it is done. We will all wait for you. Thanks for all your effort.

Max, with all the work your putting into the van, ya man, having a couple days of rec is totally deserved, you should have atleast 1 day a week of relax time to do the things you love doing like hitting the beach with a board, or, hitting a beach with a board, or maybe, hitting some beach with a board, lots of choices, it's up to you mate : )
Nice to see you didn't Eamon the heater cutout! Too bad Eamon couldn't Max his cutting skills!!!! He could cut a straight edge crooked using another straight edge as a guide to make the cut, HAhahahaha!!!!

Max your craftsmanship and consideration of form and function and style is incredible. Obviously living in a van teaches you what you need and how to accomodate for your own personal lifestyle interests but It blows my mind to see how much you can fit into one of these vans and how convenient life can be on the road if you pay special attention.

Awe Happy Birthday Mom! Hold on tight to her cause they aren't around forever. I lost my mom May 31st and I miss her so much every day! Awesome video as well.
I definitely prefer the walkthrough layout over the garage and permanent bed/U shaped couch area it doesn't make it feel so cramped and you can just walk to the back without crawling over a bed or a U shaped couch! And yes Max, it really is all coming together now!

If it's not too late Max, make sure the tube is going down into the shower vent. If you forget to close the vent, you don't want water to accumulate in the hot air tube. I hope that makes sense...

It looks fabulous, Max! And hey, the time factor of having paint and putty dry, not to talk about the time it takes to sand it down, is something we all happy amateurs is missing on, These days I always add 30% extra time to my optimistic first estimates. And I am still wrong half of the times. That's why beer was invented :)

I've been watching your build with great interest but realise I don't have the skill or tools to do my own build, but you've introduced Chris' business into the mix. Solution found! I so badly want to get cracking on a two to three year lap in a van. I drive a VW 1972 9 seater Kombi. I camp in my bus as I'm short enough to sleep on the seats, but need a better option for the big lap. I have done a few decent road trips in the Kombi, no fridge, no heating, no air con but plenty of Kombi freedom. #theadventuresofbasilthekombi
I hitch hiked around Europe in the early 70's and one time I was picked up by a sweet English couple in a 1963 1300hp VW van with no pop top. I stayed with them for over four months through North Africa and Spain. It certainly gave me the idea of having my own which I achieved in 1988 buying a 1969 VW campervan with pop top in the hippie town of San Francisco. I drove this VW to the end of the road in North America and then to the end of the road in South America, put it on a ship to Europe and drove all over there the intention being to live in it for many many years but it was stolen after one thousand days in Seville Spain. On my return to Australia I bought another one and drove around Australia visiting various ports as a Ports and Shipping Photographer which paid for the entire trip. Max's new van is luxury compared to what I lived in but the freedom to travel and absorb cultures as well as the magnificent scenery and stunning architecture etc has left indelible memories for the rest of my life.

Highlights: Jane's 60th, happy birthday mum; getting to meet Chris and Brett and knowing you had some good van mate time together; seeing you get out to surf; that surfboard closet is a step up; your grandpa's jacket; the tension I feel everytime you cut into metal in the van; that putty/sanding/painting sequence; seeing your dad help and hearing Judy's encouragement; the fun with drawer hardware and E&B. I hope Victoria's lockdown doesn't affect Occy's return. New Mexico is tight with Covid-19 precautions. Question:. Did you weigh the van prior to beginning your build? Will you weigh it when you are done? See you next time.
Bloody am amazing work Max. One of the most satisfying looking stages getting through all of the planning and foundation work before final fun tweaks and fitouts.
I can see you pushing through this stage and the toll but it's a true testament to your skills and passion, keep it up!
