Plumbing in the van proved to be a real test of patience but I am very happy with the end result. I used John Guest fittings for almost all of my plumbing.

Mercy sakes, I felt your pain in the cold shower! I am once again amazed at your knowledge base. The labyrinth of tubing was impressive - with no leaking! Don't be hard on yourself about how long it's taking. You're essentially doing it solo and however long it takes will be of little consequence if you have everything just as you want it. Great news about Occy. I miss seeing your little buddy!

@@MaxLeeandOccy Just a suggestion...I have been a subscriber for quite some time and watched all your adventures together as a couple. Max, your content, editing and music is great. This channel has 484,000 subscribers and it seems a shame to at some point try to have people switch over to your separate channel where you have to start over again, with much lower numbers. I see that Lee has only posted the one video four months ago on her individual channel and it looks like things have gone into a dead end for her. I just wonder if there is a way for you to keep your platform here with the high numbers, rather than have it just go off into oblivion. Can't you just change the name of this channel and keep posting here? Just a thought...from a business viewpoint.

This has got to be one of the most professional van builds ever made! The attention to details and customisation is incredible... i am excited to know the full cost of this build including the van! i expect it to almost be as much as i small house build from scratch... I can´t wait until you are done to see the finished van...

@@lydiaernst1412 Max is flying to Canada to get him the last I heard. He said in his last video that he was trying to get tickets and if all went well he would have him in 2 weeks. That video was posted 8 days ago. He has posted no new videos so my guess is he is in Canada or on his way right now.

This is probably the first time I’ve gotten a really good perspective on just how much room there is under the van, not even where there would be danger of hanging low while driving. Veryvery smart and efficient to use all of that empty space rather than taking the straightforward route and just plopping everything inside your van.
So much space! Just gotta take time to figure out where it can all go 🤗
I've seen heaps of VANLIFE RUclips videos you're doing an awesome job, great storytelling, authentic, plus tutorials, B’roll - and great music. ✅✅✅✅✅ congrats.
I spend summers working with a youth camp and their adults shower situation is ...temperamental to say the least. One summer water was so hot it was scalding. Another there was no hot water at all. It really made me appreciate the access to a shower in which I can control the temperature. To run these showers - no knobs just a button. Water would shoot out for about 30 seconds and you'd have to hit the button again for more. Some times you'd get a warm blast, some times a cold one depending on if all the showers were running at the same time or not. It's water pressure also varied from shower stall to shower stall. Some had great pressure, others felt like you were getting jabbed with needles. It was definitely not my favorite place at the Camp. The kids have almost all new shower buildings with large stalls and knobs. I was quite jealous. I can't quite relate to the two years without regular shower access but I can understand your appreciation for such a vital component of living well. I think it affects a person's mental health more than we think it does. I certainly felt a difference myself in such a small change to my daily routine. So, I'm glad you're going to have that in your adventures to come.
Hey, Max. That gate valve you have on the drain of the gray water can get stuff stuck in the gate area that may not let you close it all the way at some point, as well as the gate mechanism is prone to fail with any corrosion. Best bet is to put a 90 degree shut off valve there instead.

As one of those taking notes, this is a beautifully articulated tutorial, and my husband and I have a very good concept of what and how and why for our own build. BAFFLES! We laughed so hard. When we installed our water tank in our overlanding trailer, we stuffed it so full of baffling material we couldn't even fill 50% of the water! Nonetheless, they really are essential, especially if you're towing a trailer. But the best news of all is OCCY coming home soon! We're very happy for you.
I have baffles in my waterbed. No sloshing noise and no waves!

With that pump I've had the same. The pressure switch is not watertight and splashes from the road wrecked it twice . So I put a latex glove end and some tape over it and it was happy.

once again i followed through the whole plumbing system without really understanding it (just like the electrical system)... but its still very entertaining! loving this whole build and cant wait for occy to join the fun!
Hey Max I would put rubber grommets where you go through chassis and some pinch weld on the edges where the pipes may rub against the body or chassis. Great to hear Okkie may be on the way soon.

Coming along GREAT Max!! I also just bought an Iveco to do a conversion, based on your recommendation about how Iveco's have a better chassis etc. Mine is a 2010 2.3 litre HPT version. Thanks for putting me on that direction and your van build series will be my van build bible!!! I pick the Iveco up this Sunday and the build starts Monday. :)

The music in this one is fire! I am always so amused because of the weather and the down under situation. We are melting in Germany with up to 35 degrees 😂 I am very impressed with your endurance and attention to detail. There are a couple of things where I would have been like “meh... I will leave this as is...” and not bother go the extra mile. It inspires me to be more patient with my projects. 🌻

@max&lee kinda stuck up here, but I’m not complaining. Just did a road trip up to Kuranda and now enjoying sunshiny days, hanging around the Whitsundays. Once borders are lifted you’ll have to try and make your way up here and get a dose of that sunshine yourself 😉

To say I was surprised when you flashed that Madcap bag of coffee would be an understatement. By far, my favorite roaster and I've tried a lot. They are about 2.5 hours away in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and we order online. So glad your coffee service includes such great picks!
Hubby is a plumber and he said your going to have a few issues with that shower. 1 the plug and washer is too small especially when you have long hair it will get clogged and 2. The way you ran the pipe in the bottom of the tank means it won't get any airflow.

Max I am new to your thread. Been following it for a few weeks now. Totally hooked on it. I am up to the 2 year trip to Peru. After watching this I have so much to share with you about transporting water in tanks with vans. My background is 40 years in the Window Cleaning industry and I have built or helped build many vans with onboard tanks from 20 liters to 200 liters. Sure wish I had seen this before you drilled into you very nice custom tanks. You will get leaks after time on any openings at the bottom of the tanks. It’s so much better to put openings at the top of the tank and use pumps to draw the water out. Also over time from the vibration the JG fittings will leak also due to vibration. Make sure you keep a good stock of back-up ones for the road. easy to replace but a pain in the ass to get to under the van with-out a lift. I highly recommend you make a drawing or computer cad program (there is some freeware apps for this) of the plumbing. Might be a time in the future especially if you are not on location for someone to fix the leaks. Also another thing over time that will happen with 12 volt pump systems is you get air locks. Due to small air leaks in the lines over time air lock will happen. The result is you pump will run but no water will come out the shower or sink. The best way to fix this is you have to force the air out of the line by forcing water through the lines. You do this by hooking up to the main water line with hose. If you need any help trouble shooting in the future I will be glad to help. Best way to contact me is text 865-310-0728 then we can FaceTime or google hangouts or Facebook messenger so I can see what you see. Another item you might want to add to the pump is what we call a flow control. What it does is controls the flow of the water from 0-100 PSI and also keeps the pump from drawing to much power from the battery from being over worked. It also extends the life of the pump. I can send you some RUclips’s on it if you like. Here is a video on a system I helped build for window cleaning. Looks great! I just finished our simple plumbing set up. We just used simple 26L jugs, 2 of them together under the sink. No hot water. And then an outdoor shower out the back. I used all Sharkbite EvoPEX fittings which were a dream to work with. I like the ability you had to remove fittings though. If you mess a SharkBite pressfit, you have to cut it out and start over so no room for error there. Looking forward to seeing the next episode and the progress you've made!

I'm struck about your comment about building all through the winter, your videos put the hemispheric facts together for me more solidly. Nice explaination of your plumbing work. I'm not a van-builder, nor am I just interested in the final product. It is the PROCESS and personalization that keeps me entertained and informed. French press coffee yes! Yay, Occy reunion soon.

Hi Max! Do you mind sharing a detailed video one day on what you had to do EXACTLY to move Occy to Aus? Specifically how much it ended up costing you (vet checks, blood tests, flight, mandatory quarantine facility placement in Aus etc)?
I am an Aussie myself and my gf is Canadian. During our extended road trip through the USA we have rescued the sweetest little girl Stella from Oregon Humane Society and brought her over with us to our home base in Canada. We were then planning on moving together to Australia to continue our travels, until we found out how difficult (and downright impossible in some cases) Aus made it for it's citizens to bring their pets back home with them.
