I feel your pain my dear sister. I am 67 and has suffered from depression all my adult life. I was just asking myself, how comes I am a born again Christian who love the Lord with all my heart and I am feeling so low and joyless. Christian are supposed to be filled with Joy, so how come I feel so empty. One thing that has helped me a little is 5HTP, it is a supplement that helps with depression. I wish I could find something to give me a boost. Now I understand why some people turn to drugs to alleviate the pain and suffering. Not that it works in the long run, so definitely not an option for me. Hope you feel better my sister. Please pray for me while I pray for you.

Wonderful message! I love how he says that medicine and doctors are a gift from God rather than something that diverts us and shows a lack of faith. So true.

I liked how he emphasized that depression will not go away just because you believe in God. That you will also need people and medicines. That throughout your battle, God sits with you. He is with you. Depression is something most Christians do not get. When people struggle with depression, they simply say go read your bible. Go pray. Those are very helpful. But the reality, depression gets overwhelming at times. It makes people forget about every good thing in life. The good news however, once you put your life in Christ, hope will always find you. You will be like the Psalmist in the passage; up and down but able to end his song with a praise.
Akay Valdez Amen. That has been my struggle. Learning to find my way in Christ and work through this depression. The church definitely don't understand. I've been told to pray and read my bible more, which is great, but the depression is still there. I didn't feel much relief until I got professional help.
I enjoy singing the scriptures and reading and speaking God's word. However, during a recent low period, knowing God is with me and is loving me unconditionally met my deepest need. No words needed.
I have been asked if I have asked the Holy Spirit to fill me. I am not a charismatic and while I know that these are well meaning people, I do not share their belief in the rapture, gifts of the spirit, etc. How can a person relate to others that way while believing they are decieved? I have no church where my views are shared and so feel I cannot speak, and am so depressed I cannot even pray.

A week ago Sunday, I dragged myself to church after having spent a soul-sucking week of dark depression--depression brought on my the gloom of the weather, the holiday season and a conflict with my daughter and her family over Thanksgiving where I failed in my witness of God love and grace. As I came into my church, I prayed no one would ask me how our trip to our daughter's house went--I knew I couldn't lie and say "ok". Long story short, I couldn't hide the depression and sadness I was feeling and some of my sisters and brothers came up to me--one here and one there--and they just loved me and prayed for me. There were a couple who "preached" a little--it didn't help, but I thanked them because I know they meant well. As the worship went on (I handle the overhead for the lyrics), I stood there just crying. Then God started working on my broken heart and as the worship went on, the pain started to lift. He reminded me of a time when I had a burden for something else and when I shared that burden, the burden was lifted. I got up and testified to the goodness of God--I told them about the depression and said "Yes, I prayed and, yes, I read God's word and, yes, I listened to spiritual music (everyone seems to think that's the "magic" cure for depression--especially people who've never suffered from deep depression), But I thanked God and them that I have this wonderful, loving body of brothers and sisters in Christ who do love me just as I am and who hold me up in prayer. The next week, I didn't suffer from the depression--there was peace and rest in the Lord. A burden shared, is a burden lifted--bearing with one another in love--rejoicing with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn--those help so much. Just please don't judge people with depression--love them, pray for them, hold them--listen to only what God would have you say to them. Blessings!!

I almost fell over when you said you heard of an incredibly sad story about someone who had friends who questioned if she was really trusting God because she was using medication. And I also love how you relate it to other medical conditions such as diabetes. What happened to this woman happened to me as well, and it is so so good to hear a pastor who knows the truth, that God channels His love through doctors as well! Thank you for speaking the truth! Hopefully others who need to hear this will have the chance.
9 years of continuous life disasters and I am starting to rebuild my life Jesus rescued me at rock bottom Yes I still struggle some days but he has kept me and when I look at were I was and were I am now I can clearly see he has been at my side every day ❤️
I am posting above my post of 9 months ago. Thank you to all that prayed with me. My relationship with my Heavenly Father soared, I felt Jesus at my side, and the Holy Spirit just wrapped me in a warm and secure blanket of love. My living situation (which at my age I can't escape) is horrid (emotional abuse). I have slipped right back into the dark pit again. Please pray for me! Your prayers saved me and I am so thankful. I need prayed again. I'm having a hard time taking my Grandson to church. Even the music makes me weep uncontrollably! I thank you for your prayers and if anyone out there needs prayer I would love to pray for you.

I'm a young adult that is currently suffering from depression for the third time, and when he said that Jesus is right there with you and not waiting for you to get up, that just made me burst into tears because Jesus is right there going though it with me, rather then waiting for me at the end of the hall. thank you Jesus
my pastor once said to me, "expecting yourself not to take medication is like expecting the lumb not to use crutches". that gave me so much peace, and i felt so understood , and it helped me stop judging my faith and myself for taking medication. I started having depressed feelings when i was 15 but now i can see that. I was always depressed in a very slight level, and i wasnt treating it because i did not know i had it. I started treating it when i came to the Lord when I was 29 with panic and anxiety attacks; my body just collapsed: hypothirodism, insuline resistance, overweight, and dispair became my friens. But the Lord started treating my soul. I started taking medication. Now i am 35, and the Lord has been restoring my whole life through counselling in church, personal communions. He has giving me so much truth after truth about me, my childhood, my wounds. He came to heal the brokenhearted... Sometimes i just stay in his presence and cry or stay silent and let him minister me through silence. It is in my deepest place where God has revealed to me. Glory to glory, thats His promise to us. It is time, faith, and patience. He is in control. Now I am suffering from chronic pain in my lower spine and ciatic nerve so I had to start taking antidipressants again. But it is ok, frustating to me, but not frustration to God. HE KNOWS. He sees the process completed. He is our peace and hope. We are his children. He wont forsake us. This pastor is so right, God has a to do list for us to receive from Him. I know His healing, i know His love, I know His restorarion, and He is not done with me yet. When I feel frustrated about still being like this after a lot of years, I just see myself a lot of years ago, I see His glory in my life. Depression is so complex, it is a desease of the soul. and God will not stop until He see us healed.
I felt the closest to God during the worst of my depression it really got me out having the feeling of Gods love and also receiving medical care and therapy

I relate to what you say here. I can get caught up trying to understand everything that is going on around me but I sense God wants me to focus on Him and His promises first and foremost.

Pastor for me it is a wrestling match. I had a severe breakdown at age 19. I am now 64. Yes a major part of it is biochemical. But with Him He has given me hinds feet that I might go up to my high places. But this tendency to at times be downcast is a part of my life. But He gives me the victory in the end.

This service moved a boulder in my soul. I love you all, and though I am depressed and could ask for you all to pray for me...I instead will give thanks and pray for you all instead. All of our stories come with huge obstacles and trauma, and we cannot change it. Sometimes we cannot even change simple things. But what we CAN DO, is help one another, look for blessings, pray for one another, and spread love. I love you all regardless of color or status...and If I love you, someone who's been through heroin addiction, abandonment, heartbreak, losing my best friend in a car accident...then imagine how much GOD loves you.

I battled despair for 7 years, no easy answers and no one could fix me but God, but some one holding my hand thankfully without no words (praise God) did wonders. Sending a card saying I am praying for you, was a reminder that i was not alone. A smile was a visible sign, its all ok today. We have to stop fixing people but support people, depression/despair is so hard to define, fix and understand. Today i am reminded of scripture that says I will never leave you. WRITE IT DOWN AND PUT IT SOMEWHERE YOU CAN SEE IT FIRST THING OF THE DAY, write the words Gods spoken to you, that you know are yours from him down, on your phone your hand your bathroom mirror your fridge. Pour your heart out to me PSALM 42 V 8, to help you. GOD BLESS.

I suffer with depression and I looked for information through RUclips on positive thinking and as a Christian it dawned on me to look up Bible based answers and this videos made me feel so much better. This legitely made me cry. I've suffered from depression for years, since diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and once diagnosed with Hashinotos 3 years ago, I've been almost fed ridden for weeks on end. Not seeing the day of light. Randomly I'll feel better but it gets super bad and my poor husband has to live with this..except he suffers from it as well. This video hit home and this guy gets it! It's not as easy as "just get up, just be happy" it's so annoying to hear that from family. I love his use of the Movie, Inside Out. I could relate.
This was so good! You described depression and all the feelings and all the things that people will say and do to "help" perfectly! I'm just coming out of yet another valley of depression, but I can testify that God did not leave me alone during that "dark night of the soul". Like Him directing me to this video--what a blessing!! He's given me scriptures and devotions this past week and a half to encourage me and lift me up and comfort me and He's given me the wherewithal to KNOW that they were Him speaking to my heart and soul.
My dad shot and killed himself on January 7th, but still I’m hopeless. I’ve got cystic fibrosis. Dad wasn’t supposed to leave me behind to deal with this without him. Please pray for me. I’d really appreciate it.

I wish I would of seen this in June. I work as a CNA in a nursing home in WA state during the Corona Virus. It crippled me into a fear and anxiety. To the point taking care of others, my life's passion, into shutting down and doing nothing but laying on a couch the whole month of MAY. No support from our pastor as she is not there is not a wells church close. The shut down of the church even made it worse. Growing up WELS and my sister and Brother in law reminded me about time of grace and how it helped their son. I started watching these one at a time and noticed this one today. I have a new mind set and new goals finding the 5 G's of life. What I want I need to know how to get educated to help others? I would love to be a Christian Life Counselor. So many of our nurses and doctors need this. Its been a tough time. Fear mongering, words of hate, killings and disagreement. Time for us to have God, Goals, Growing, Glowing and Giving. Can i find it and do it with the proper education?
If you play an instrument like guitar, for example; you can go to the psalms and make up your own tunes as you sing. I did that as a new believer teenager over 40 years ago, and it remains as one of the sweetest memories of just sitting & praying in song, while feeling the closeness of the Spirit of God. Being honest before God, asking and seeking, crying when you hurt, giving thanks & praise for all the things and people in your life. Find just one other person to confide in when you’re depressed & agree to pray for one another. But if you suffer from sustained life-altering state of depression...seek help. It may be hormonal, it may be the food you’re eating (go with real food, not processed). Change can be overwhelming though. When you’re really in a depression, all you can think about is staying in bed curled up in a fetal position. You can’t even get up to do just one thing. When I was at that point, I turned on (good) inspirational tv (or RUclips); put my prayer request in on certain shows (like Marilyn Hickey); and sent messages to several praying friends to pray for me. So thank you to these pastors at Time of Grace for showing compassion. The entire law is summed up in “Love The Lord your God with all your heart & with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and Love your neighbor as yourself.” Luke 10:27 I left “churchianity” for approx 23 years...still had faith but no church. Part of the reason is being married to a nonbeliever; part of it bc I felt I didn’t belong anywhere since I was raised Catholic, went to a nondenominational Bible school; but I felt very uncomfortable among “churched” folks, Protestant church culture & conservative politics. But God...who is filled with mercy & lovingkindness, ever patient, nudged me back to Him and gave me hope again. ❤️🙏 I am involved in a strong faith community with a focus on God’s Grace. I give thanks for all He’s done in my life-kids, spouse, mom, times of unemployment, EVERYthing (no matter how hard). I ask God to make me spiritually strong to be useful in service to others. I have more years behind me than I have in front of me now....that helps me to focus on what’s truly important. “Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. Life is hard enough. I always thought that if one trusted in God that He would heal His children but He has chosen not to and it is so maddening. He has the power to perform miracles but yet He allows His children to suffer. This has been a battle for me for 7 years since having a full hysterectomy and it hasn't improved much even with prayer, medication, quoting back bible verses out loud and telling God that I trust Him and yet other christians say that because someone is going to through severe depression and anxiety that they should question whether they are saved or not because the gifts of the spirit are joy, peace, love, etc and that if someone is depressed then they are also focusing on self. If I would have known that I was going to go through this after having the surgery then I would have lived with it until it took me. I use to enjoy life and living right for the Lord and work hard like we are suppose to only to go through this and bankruptcy with no support so I left that church and never went back after years of attending there. I still pray and listen to sermons but the fears that I have had since childhood and the torment are still there. I know that we are to lean on the Lord but I can't even retain goals in my mind anymore or be excited about anything. I am going to go to a hormone clinic and maybe that will help some. Better than the hell that I have going through.
I have friends and esp a close cousin, this really helped me start to understand the approach that helps more that the added lists of tasks I tried to have him take.

I also deal with a terminal illness while actually several terminal illnesses as my twin died unexpectedly 4 years ago while we were both taking a nap and she didn't wake up I could write a book of testimonies for 48 years worth of things that would probably blow people's minds and I don't mean that in a exciting way then again I'm still here today I'm excited to be here today and make it through everything I've been through and use my testimony to pay it forward and to help others because that's what I want to do even bedridden or when I can get up and sit in my recliner I call it recliner writed I live in the coldest state of the United States called Wisconsin with my mom and my kids are in Louisiana where my heart is and Colorado all three are no adults I miss him so very much and after I lost my flight attendant career I was forced to move back to Wisconsin as well I coach cheerleading and tumbling all star and I want to start a special needs team or just volunteer now I'm limited but on the days that I'm not I do what I can do and I find peace in it I think I'm the father for his well as I trust it and I have faith and everything and I will get through and I know
I've suffered with depression for the last 5 years or so, even though it's so much worse now. Someone that is very close to me downgrades me all the time, and it really makes me believe them. I quote God's word about what He thinks of me, but it's not helping. I'm tired of feeling this way. I'm tired all of the time. I have no energy. I need help!

Depression is something people joke about. But until you wake up every day with a dark cloud hanging over your head for no reason at all. Cause you have so much to be grateful about but yet no matter how many times you seek help nothing seems to break up that dark cloud for even a glimpse of sunshine. I know cause I'm here and it's hard. Every day I pray to Father for help me to battle the enemies lies. Praying and hoping this dark cloud will evaporate soon.

It's important, once you are out of your episode, try to get healthy then, eat vegan, whole foods, drink water, get outside, workout and you'll get better. It's impossible to do any of this, even pray, when you're depressed

I’ve been clinically depressed for most of my life. I’ve also been a baptized follower of Christ for a lot of it too. I’ve found that neglecting to read the Bible and praying to God leads to my bad general anxiety and bad depression worsening to heavy anxiety and severe debilitating depression. I’m typing this now because I have neglected to read the Bible and speak to God for so long that I’ve lost my job and am struggling to keep my friends from leaving because of how bad I’ve allowed myself to get. I’m not angry at God because I understand moments like these are being used to remind me to come back and worship and to be healed as a result. For everyone suffering with depression light to severe I can sympathize with you as I’ve been to the deepest pit. Just remember that returning to God is the only way you’ll find rest and healing. I don’t believe my depression will ever leave so long as I walk this earth; but I know with God I can still rejoice in his promises and the glory to come which will make all of my earthly suffering feel so small and insignificant.

But to live in anxiety and depression continually thats bc we are lead by the flesh, not the Spirit. Our walk with God is faith based in the completed work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Not our feelings. What is faith? Believing/hope in what you dont see, feel, or even understand. --- This is coming from a person who had depression, anxiety, hospitalized several times, suicidal thoughts...I was abused ALL my life!! --- Either you believe Gods word or you dont. You live in bondage by the whispers the devils tells you over what God word says.....THAT'S A SIN!! Because bible says devil is father of lies, no truth in him, so you believe the liar devil over God's word. Bible says "God not a man that He should lie" ...Numbers 23:19, God is good, God is love, God has no darkness. Demonic oppression comes from believing him and entertaining his lies. The devil snare "hook" if you pick it up he now gots you entangled on his hook. People Im telling you I was there! It took almost a year to get it in my head then in my heart and now Im free. I had to sit at the feet of Jesus daily and meditate on His word Children of God cant be posssed but they could be oppressed. If you need deliverance for oppression is bc Gods mercy , He had to step in and help, but if you dont get into the word and stand firm on His truth, devil gonna come again and mess with you. Bible says "resist devil and he will flee" Paul says to hold captive the thoughts that go against Jesus. He also said to think of lovely thoughts, pure, honorable things. Stronghold in the mind is when you believe a lie! Also unforgivness and continual sin will keep you in bondage People give to much power to the devil. Jesus already defeated him, walk in the victory through Christ Jesus .
Pastor, I was born with major depression, inherited from ancestors who came to Adelaide from London. I am now a few months short of 80. When I hear another uninformed person claim that we can ignore medical and scientific knowledge, when the author of a published Book of Prayers shares with God that psychotherapy is all quackery, I wonder how many depressed people he has met. Even faith healing cannot alter my genes. Depression does not discriminate. A minister of religion was so badly affected that he would occasionally spend a day in bed. He is probably worse affected than me. According to the World Health Organization, depression is now the major cause of lost time and productivity. "Counting one's blessings" to a depressed person, is like water off a duck's back.
I'm so depressed right now and to be honest I have been for a good few years on and off even though I know the Lord Jesus Christ and trust in His grace and mercy for the forgiveness of my sins but daily life can be such a struggle for me (as is the case for so many, Christian or not, because life is full of so much sorrow, disappointments and uncertainties. I know not to be led too much by my feelings (positive, negative or indifferent); but rather to trust fully in the word of God but nevertheless sometimes the struggle of daily life can feel too much for me because of the weakness of the flesh. I feel your pain my dear sister. I am 67 and has suffered from depression all my adult life. I was just asking myself, how comes I am a born again Christian who love the Lord with all my heart and I am feeling so low and joyless. Christian are supposed to be filled with Joy, so how come I feel so empty.
One thing that has helped me a little is 5HTP, it is a supplement that helps with depression. I wish I could find something to give me a boost. Now I understand why some people turn to drugs to alleviate the pain and suffering. Not that it works in the long run, so definitely not an option for me.

Wonderful message! I love how he says that medicine and doctors are a gift from God rather than something that diverts us and shows a lack of faith. So true.

I liked how he emphasized that depression will not go away just because you believe in God. That you will also need people and medicines. That throughout your battle, God sits with you. He is with you. Depression is something most Christians do not get. When people struggle with depression, they simply say go read your bible. Go pray. Those are very helpful. But the reality, depression gets overwhelming at times. It makes people forget about every good thing in life.
The good news however, once you put your life in Christ, hope will always find you. You will be like the Psalmist in the passage; up and down but able to end his song with a praise.
Akay Valdez Amen. That has been my struggle. Learning to find my way in Christ and work through this depression. The church definitely don't understand. I've been told to pray and read my bible more, which is great, but the depression is still there. I didn't feel much relief until I got professional help.
I enjoy singing the scriptures and reading and speaking God's word. However, during a recent low period, knowing God is with me and is loving me unconditionally met my deepest need. No words needed.

I have been asked if I have asked the Holy Spirit to fill me. I am not a charismatic and while I know that these are well meaning people, I do not share their belief in the rapture, gifts of the spirit, etc. How can a person relate to others that way while believing they are decieved? I have no church where my views are shared and so feel I cannot speak, and am so depressed I cannot even pray.

A week ago Sunday, I dragged myself to church after having spent a soul-sucking week of dark depression--depression brought on my the gloom of the weather, the holiday season and a conflict with my daughter and her family over Thanksgiving where I failed in my witness of God love and grace. As I came into my church, I prayed no one would ask me how our trip to our daughter's house went--I knew I couldn't lie and say "ok". Long story short, I couldn't hide the depression and sadness I was feeling and some of my sisters and brothers came up to me--one here and one there--and they just loved me and prayed for me. There were a couple who "preached" a little--it didn't help, but I thanked them because I know they meant well. As the worship went on (I handle the overhead for the lyrics), I stood there just crying. Then God started working on my broken heart and as the worship went on, the pain started to lift. He reminded me of a time when I had a burden for something else and when I shared that burden, the burden was lifted. I got up and testified to the goodness of God--I told them about the depression and said "Yes, I prayed and, yes, I read God's word and, yes, I listened to spiritual music (everyone seems to think that's the "magic" cure for depression--especially people who've never suffered from deep depression), But I thanked God and them that I have this wonderful, loving body of brothers and sisters in Christ who do love me just as I am and who hold me up in prayer. The next week, I didn't suffer from the depression--there was peace and rest in the Lord. A burden shared, is a burden lifted--bearing with one another in love--rejoicing with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn--those help so much. Just please don't judge people with depression--love them, pray for them, hold them--listen to only what God would have you say to them. Blessings!!

I almost fell over when you said you heard of an incredibly sad story about someone who had friends who questioned if she was really trusting God because she was using medication. And I also love how you relate it to other medical conditions such as diabetes. What happened to this woman happened to me as well, and it is so so good to hear a pastor who knows the truth, that God channels His love through doctors as well! Thank you for speaking the truth! Hopefully others who need to hear this will have the chance.

My living situation (which at my age I can't escape) is horrid (emotional abuse). I have slipped right back into the dark pit again. Please pray for me! Your prayers saved me and I am so thankful. my pastor once said to me, "expecting yourself not to take medication is like expecting the lumb not to use crutches". that gave me so much peace, and i felt so understood , and it helped me stop judging my faith and myself for taking medication. I started having depressed feelings when i was 15 but now i can see that. I was always depressed in a very slight level, and i wasnt treating it because i did not know i had it. I started treating it when i came to the Lord when I was 29 with panic and anxiety attacks; my body just collapsed: hypothirodism, insuline resistance, overweight, and dispair became my friens. But the Lord started treating my soul. I started taking medication. Now i am 35, and the Lord has been restoring my whole life through counselling in church, personal communions. He has giving me so much truth after truth about me, my childhood, my wounds. He came to heal the brokenhearted... Sometimes i just stay in his presence and cry or stay silent and let him minister me through silence. It is in my deepest place where God has revealed to me. Glory to glory, thats His promise to us. It is time, faith, and patience. He is in control. Now I am suffering from chronic pain in my lower spine and ciatic nerve so I had to start taking antidipressants again. But it is ok, frustating to me, but not frustration to God. HE KNOWS. He sees the process completed. He is our peace and hope. We are his children. He wont forsake us. This pastor is so right, God has a to do list for us to receive from Him. I know His healing, i know His love, I know His restorarion, and He is not done with me yet. When I feel frustrated about still being like this after a lot of years, I just see myself a lot of years ago, I see His glory in my life. Depression is so complex, it is a desease of the soul. and God will not stop until He see us healed.

Pastor for me it is a wrestling match. I had a severe breakdown at age 19. I am now 64. Yes a major part of it is biochemical. But with Him He has given me hinds feet that I might go up to my high places. But this tendency to at times be downcast is a part of my life. But He gives me the victory in the end.

I battled despair for 7 years, no easy answers and no one could fix me but God, but some one holding my hand thankfully without no words (praise God) did wonders. Sending a card saying I am praying for you, was a reminder that i was not alone. A smile was a visible sign, its all ok today. We have to stop fixing people but support people, depression/despair is so hard to define, fix and understand. Today i am reminded of scripture that says I will never leave you. WRITE IT DOWN AND PUT IT SOMEWHERE YOU CAN SEE IT FIRST THING OF THE DAY, write the words Gods spoken to you, that you know are yours from him down, on your phone your hand your bathroom mirror your fridge. This legitely made me cry. I've suffered from depression for years, since diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and once diagnosed with Hashinotos 3 years ago, I've been almost fed ridden for weeks on end. Not seeing the day of light. Randomly I'll feel better but it gets super bad and my poor husband has to live with this..except he suffers from it as well. This video hit home and this guy gets it! It's not as easy as "just get up, just be happy" it's so annoying to hear that from family. I love his use of the Movie, Inside Out. I could relate.

This was so good! You described depression and all the feelings and all the things that people will say and do to "help" perfectly! I'm just coming out of yet another valley of depression, but I can testify that God did not leave me alone during that "dark night of the soul". Like Him directing me to this video--what a blessing!! He's given me scriptures and devotions this past week and a half to encourage me and lift me up and comfort me and He's given me the wherewithal to KNOW that they were Him speaking to my heart and soul.

I wish I would of seen this in June. I work as a CNA in a nursing home in WA state during the Corona Virus. It crippled me into a fear and anxiety. To the point taking care of others, my life's passion, into shutting down and doing nothing but laying on a couch the whole month of MAY. No support from our pastor as she is not there is not a wells church close. The shut down of the church even made it worse. Growing up WELS and my sister and Brother in law reminded me about time of grace and how it helped their son. I started watching these one at a time and noticed this one today. I have a new mind set and new goals finding the 5 G's of life. What I want I need to know how to get educated to help others? I would love to be a Christian Life Counselor. So many of our nurses and doctors need this. Its been a tough time. Fear mongering, words of hate, killings and disagreement. Time for us to have God, Goals, Growing, Glowing and Giving. Can i find it and do it with the proper education?
If you play an instrument like guitar, for example; you can go to the psalms and make up your own tunes as you sing. I did that as a new believer teenager over 40 years ago, and it remains as one of the sweetest memories of just sitting & praying in song, while feeling the closeness of the Spirit of God. Being honest before God, asking and seeking, crying when you hurt, giving thanks & praise for all the things and people in your life. Find just one other person to confide in when you’re depressed & agree to pray for one another. But if you suffer from sustained life-altering state of depression...seek help. It may be hormonal, it may be the food you’re eating (go with real food, not processed). Change can be overwhelming though. When you’re really in a depression, all you can think about is staying in bed curled up in a fetal position. You can’t even get up to do just one thing. When I was at that point, I turned on (good) inspirational tv (or RUclips); put my prayer request in on certain shows (like Marilyn Hickey); and sent messages to several praying friends to pray for me. So thank you to these pastors at Time of Grace for showing compassion. The entire law is summed up in “Love The Lord your God with all your heart & with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and Love your neighbor as yourself.” Luke 10:27
I left “churchianity” for approx 23 years...still had faith but no church. Part of the reason is being married to a nonbeliever; part of it bc I felt I didn’t belong anywhere since I was raised Catholic, went to a nondenominational Bible school; but I felt very uncomfortable among “churched” folks, Protestant church culture & conservative politics. But God...who is filled with mercy & lovingkindness, ever patient, nudged me back to Him and gave me hope again. ❤️🙏 I am involved in a strong faith community with a focus on God’s Grace. I give thanks for all He’s done in my life-kids, spouse, mom, times of unemployment, EVERYthing (no matter how hard). I ask God to make me spiritually strong to be useful in service to others. I have more years behind me than I have in front of me now....that helps me to focus on what’s truly important.

Life is hard enough. I always thought that if one trusted in God that He would heal His children but He has chosen not to and it is so maddening. He has the power to perform miracles but yet He allows His children to suffer. This has been a battle for me for 7 years since having a full hysterectomy and it hasn't improved much even with prayer, medication, quoting back bible verses out loud and telling God that I trust Him and yet other christians say that because someone is going to through severe depression and anxiety that they should question whether they are saved or not because the gifts of the spirit are joy, peace, love, etc and that if someone is depressed then they are also focusing on self. If I would have known that I was going to go through this after having the surgery then I would have lived with it until it took me. I use to enjoy life and living right for the Lord and work hard like we are suppose to only to go through this and bankruptcy with no support so I left that church and never went back after years of attending there. I still pray and listen to sermons but the fears that I have had since childhood and the torment are still there. I know that we are to lean on the Lord but I can't even retain goals in my mind anymore or be excited about anything. I am going to go to a hormone clinic and maybe that will help some. Better than the hell that I have going through.

It's important, once you are out of your episode, try to get healthy then, eat vegan, whole foods, drink water, get outside, workout and you'll get better. It's impossible to do any of this, even pray, when you're depressed

I’ve been clinically depressed for most of my life. I’ve also been a baptized follower of Christ for a lot of it too.
I’ve found that neglecting to read the Bible and praying to God leads to my bad general anxiety and bad depression worsening to heavy anxiety and severe debilitating depression.
I’m typing this now because I have neglected to read the Bible and speak to God for so long that I’ve lost my job and am struggling to keep my friends from leaving because of how bad I’ve allowed myself to get. I’m not angry at God because I understand moments like these are being used to remind me to come back and worship and to be healed as a result.
For everyone suffering with depression light to severe I can sympathize with you as I’ve been to the deepest pit. Just remember that returning to God is the only way you’ll find rest and healing. I don’t believe my depression will ever leave so long as I walk this earth; but I know with God I can still rejoice in his promises and the glory to come which will make all of my earthly suffering feel so small and insignificant.

Depression for certain situations understandable . But to live in anxiety and depression continually thats bc we are lead by the flesh, not the Spirit. Our walk with God is faith based in the completed work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Not our feelings. What is faith? Believing/hope in what you dont see, feel, or even understand. --- This is coming from a person who had depression, anxiety, hospitalized several times, suicidal thoughts...I was abused ALL my life!! ---

You live in bondage by the whispers the devils tells you over what God word says.....THAT'S A SIN!! Because bible says devil is father of lies, no truth in him, so you believe the liar devil over God's word. Bible says "God not a man that He should lie" ...Numbers 23:19,

Demonic oppression comes from believing him and entertaining his lies. The devil snare "hook" if you pick it up he now gots you entangled on his hook.
People Im telling you I was there! It took almost a year to get it in my head then in my heart and now Im free. I had to sit at the feet of Jesus daily and meditate on His word
Children of God cant be posssed but they could be oppressed. If you need deliverance for oppression is bc Gods mercy , He had to step in and help, but if you dont get into the word and stand firm on His truth, devil gonna come again and mess with you. Bible says "resist devil and he will flee"
Paul says to hold captive the thoughts that go against Jesus. He also said to think of lovely thoughts, pure, honorable things.
Stronghold in the mind is when you believe a lie! Also unforgivness and continual sin will keep you in bondage
People give to much power to the devil. Jesus already defeated him, walk in the victory through Christ Jesus .

Pastor, I was born with major depression, inherited from ancestors who came to Adelaide from London. I am now a few months short of 80. When I hear another uninformed person claim that we can ignore medical and scientific knowledge, when the author of a published Book of Prayers shares with God that psychotherapy is all quackery, I wonder how many depressed people he has met. Even faith healing cannot alter my genes. Depression does not discriminate. A minister of religion was so badly affected that he would occasionally spend a day in bed. He is probably worse affected than me. According to the World Health Organization, depression is now the major cause of lost time and productivity. "Counting one's blessings" to a depressed person, is like water off a duck's back.

Great message. The problem for me is when church members and pastors are completely out of touch and are not trust worthy to be talked to.
I'm so depressed right now and to be honest I have been for a good few years on and off even though I know the Lord Jesus Christ and trust in His grace and mercy for the forgiveness of my sins but daily life can be such a struggle for me (as is the case for so many, Christian or not, because life is full of so much sorrow, disappointments and uncertainties. I know not to be led too much by my feelings (positive, negative or indifferent); but rather to trust fully in the word of God but nevertheless sometimes the struggle of daily life can feel too much for me because of the weakness of the flesh. Please pray for me. Many thanks and blessings in Christ Jesus to all who are struggling and watching this video.
