Wonderful video. Great tips about Exposure Comp., better dark shadows than blown out highlights. I use similar digicam Sony DSC-V3, but my lens not so wide as yours, well done 🙏
Nice camera. The trick with underexposing works nearly with all digicams :-). Have a tiny collection of older Digicams and use them for landscape photowalks. Have a nice time :-).
hey, i need some help as i just got the ricoh camera and what setting do u to as my picture is blurry whenever i take a picture or its too dark inside a room even though my exposure is at max
What this one does for you so the Sony Cybershot DSC-P200 does for me, although I have a sensor of whooping 7.2 Mega pixels!!! Really fun and a very discrete way of doing street photography (you look like an old lost turist) the only struggle is the little screen, particularly if it´s sunny but still a screen where you can do some corrections right away. Thanks for sharing!
I also have the p200 i got at goodwill for under 5 bucks. Works perfectly, even came with extra memory cards and tons of someones european vacation pics lol.
I have the DSC-V3, same sensor with 7.2MP, holy crap, best camera I've ever owned, bought in 2007 and been using it since, like a little tank and I've beaten it and taken it around the world and it's still working great.
That Ricoh is desireable to say the least - nice colors and love the round metallic button design! It's certainly a step up from the RDC-5000 that I tested. 😅
I use my Casio Exilim on my street photography. I really like the filmsy look that it gives me, especially the grainy texture and the color. Can you do a shoot with this camera? I would love to see you use it, hoping I can gain some insights. Nice video. Keep it up!

Really nice set of stills, bravo! Yup a hidden gem in old Ricoh's digital p&s. I think the R1 is the last Ricoh p&s with a viewfinder and for this very reason, i had to cop one and had luck to find my grail: a black one...this thing sounds off is street perv af 😂 Love this little guy, always have it with me with its little bro CX5 (which is another hidden gem imo)
Great Video, I've been looking for a R1 for a while now and I'm having a really hard time finding one. Do you have any idea of where I can get one? Thanks
Hi, good video. I have a couple of the later Caplio models as well as some other old low megapixel, ccd cams. Even when underexposing the shot it can be challenging to maintain highlight detail in harsh light. For me this is their biggest drawback, but it just means you need to be a little more selective or careful with your scene selection. These old cams certainly do have character. Thanks for posting.
Hello David... have you experimented with the manual focus shooting specifically it's snap and infinity focus.. Does it's snap focus works the same with the Ricoh GXR and Ricoh GR series(I,II,III) cameras which is one of Ricoh GR's best feature for street photography? Does it has the same feature with the Ricoh GR which you can snap focus by full press or you could assign the snap focus on a certain function button so you could toggle from auto focus to snap focus in single button? Hope you could make a run through with your experiment of this feature.
Hey Bob, generally speaking, the autofocus on the Caplio R1 is pretty reliable. The other focus modes (MF, Snap, Infinity) I haven't tried. Manual focus is a bit of a gimmic as you have to judge focus on the TFT monitor which is nearly impossible. Snap focus I think is set to 2 meter and cannot be adjusted. I should give that one a try.
To make digicams skyrocket their prices
Just bought one for 22€ 😉
Find cheap digicams at thrift stores today, not ebay, prices are insanely inflated on ebay.
Digicams go hand in hand with street photography in my opinion nice and compact also you feel discreet and stealthy! Great video man 📸🤩
discreet sure

Are you using Lr for color correction or is it the original image?
Watch the video and find out bro

Not as extreme, but I've been using a Fujifilm XQ2 and really like it!
Can I ask what SD card you use? I get a card error when trying to use my 64gb SD card
Hi. I just bought a used R1, everything looks fine but when im going to take a picture the screen and picture is just black. Any info about this?
Love the fact that you also don't like to edit your pictures that much. Straight from camera/film for the win!
something tells me you cant edit

I have the same feelings towards an olympus ir-300. I finally got new batteries for the camera and love the look. Happy shooting.
I want this camera so bad but I can’t find it anywhere 😢
Google the name of it, then click shopping! I found some good options for around $100-$150
I've just purchased the Ricoh RR430 and to date can find no information or reviews on this camera, but quality of colours and pictures looks great
im completely addicted to old digicams, i already have 2 and im waiting for another one to arrive
I just bought a Samsung D760 7.1MP retro digital camera for cheap, i hope it gives for the same vibe as yours :)

Which mode did you shoot it on?
The camera is not important : the most important are the EYES of the protographer and his SKILLS.
where can i buy one in EU?
Can it do videos?
Coz you can
