There was a very high tide in the morning of December 8th, 2023. One of the popular waves at the La Jolla reefs had some 5-7 foot face waves coming through. Even though the little bit of wind swell mixed in was making the wave a little wonky there were still some in between gems. Typically this wave is just a shoot the barrel type of wave. When the swell doesn't line up right it can add some more sections for turns. Local surfers such as Ozstar DeJourday, John Maher, and Sophie Alex were all in the water hunting for some barrels.

You got that right! Yeah it was a very high tide that morning so it was kind of swamping the reef a little. Then the tide started to drain mid morning and as you can see it was a little wonky on the reef, so I think that kept some people from paddling out. Although its days like this that are really fun out there cause you can get a good wave count.
