I hope that gravity sketch is paying you for making these tutorials, because i would have never been able to find out all these things myself. Before you started the course i thought the program was quite useless
Your tutorials are gold. Bought Tilt Brush and Gravity Sketch because of these. Of course, my first modeling project I am giving myself is recreating Disneyland...
That is amazing! I love cross-app interaction, because sometimes I get tired of exporting things into Substance Painter and would rather have a quick prototyping method like this available. Awesome. :)
Recently played Color Space on the Quest -- it's wonderful! So relaxing. Both myself and my daughter love it :) Was a pleasant surprise to see those scenes in this video.
Can you 'paint the roses in red' in Color Space? I'd love to be that card soldier painting all the roses in red - because they planted the white ones by mistake
@@TheSpatialCanvas Hey man, thanks for the video. Would this file work with the Quest 2, as well? I really could use this brush-stoke, sub-D, technique. Would save some time.
This course was awesome. I have a Vive coming tomorrow and now I can't wait to play around with Tilt Brush and Gravity Sketch. You really make the whole process seem very approachable.
I'm glad to hear it! Please note that my GS tutorials are about a year old now, so you'll find some fresh features in there that I didn't cover, but the fundamentals still hold true, and they have been very consistent with their UI. Have fun! I'm busy with classes, but hopefully I can update my series this winter :)
@@TheSpatialCanvas My Cosmos didn't work out, the platform has too many problems but I'm switching to a Quest 2 and wanted to let you know I did grab Lucid Trips and it's a tremendous experience. Looking forward to playing it with functional tracking!
It’s nice for me where some games have map making for the game in the same device. Like Slowp. An underrated vr game let’s you make maps which is cool.
Color space looked awesome. Had to wait though as I had just picked up 2 painting programs, but I'm sure I'll get it in the next couple months, so thanks for the showcase. 😎👌
Throw in a few short tutorials for absolute noobs regularly, and you will be the Bob Ross of VR art ;-) I don't see a link to your Patreon is the description? (Hint hint)
Wonderful Danny! Do you get any impression that the Gravity Sketch team might be willing to bake such a feature into one of their future releases? Many thanks, you have all of our backs.
Great tutorials! Where do I get the texture files you have in the video? I thought I saw a link here before to download them, but I don't see one now for some reason. Thanks, would love to see more videos! Nevermind, I found it on the first video. I knew I saw it the other day.
Dude great tutorial but I was wondering if I can in Gravity Sketch apply a cutout opacity layer to a set or hair card I imported into the Gravity Sketch environment. I just truly do not know where to place my Normals, CutOuts, AO or anything else apart from the regular color texture. If there is a plugin or anything please let me know and thanks...
Hi! I have a quest 2 but my desktop is a Mac, cant install objects from my mac, can I download the required docs/objects library into my Ipad GS app or from the oculus app then into headset or strait into the quest 2 headset? thanks.
I understand your perspective, but the GS team is made up of about 20 people, all who work hourly to make that software, which they update monthly. I think we're very used to buying software from corporate giants who have millions in investor funding, so it's easy to feel cheated with a subscription, but this is an independent company that survives because it's a subscription. I also would like to point out what has happened to Tilt Brush, which is owned by Google. Without a constant stream of revenue, the Tilt team hasn't received much support from Google and so they haven't put out an update in a while. In the early years of VR the Tilt team pushed out updates like crazy because everyone was buying it, but now everyone already owns a copy, and unless they switch to a subscription, it doesn't bring in that much money. Teams that depend on investors of company money lose creative control, and the freedom to keep working on their app full time, and the whole community suffers.

Yeah, solid overview here. SouthernGFX has some good 3D modeling in VR content as well.
It's a bit silly that 4 years later, this video is still relevant

I've been using seamless textures in GS for a while. It's a clever way to fake the ambient occlusion, well done👍🏻

@@TheSpatialCanvas Thanks for the reply, and my headset just showed up a day early! Appreciate all the help, again, and enjoy your semester!

One hidden gem you should play from the early days, "Lucid Trips". It's the best I promise.

How did you make the little balls and blocks?
I imported the palette but there were no gradients :-(
I just got a quest, it seems you are using the PC right? How would I import the gradient options?
Hey this is gonna sound like a dumb question but how do you fill stuff in on tilt brush?
I'm high as shit
How to make an CUSTOMHOME..?? META
Its a shame that You have to Pay a subscription fee - 30$ to have more options in GS, escpecially that software costs 29.99$
